This is the first map of the PC game crysis edited by the sandbox2 editor from crytek.

It represents not the real framerate of the game with my computer system.
I made this video just for fun on one rainy day.
The real framerate without rendering was around 0.2, that means every 5 seconds a picture in some parts, so its not playable in realtime with this amount of barrels in the year 2008.
To get this smooth video, i recorded each frame and processed all pictures to a 30 frame/sec. video

kalmah - Moon Of My Nights
I ask the producer of Kalmah, to have the the copyright to use it in this video, but i never get any answer so i had to respect the copyright of the original atrist and deleted the original song for not getting problems with the law
I remember the first time I saw this was in 2008 and up until then I had not known much about PC gaming. Then this video was shown to me by a friend and I was floored by it. I couldn't believe the level of fidelity in the visuals, it was insane. Still is actually
Fancy seeing you here! Thought you were a fake jacksepticeye at first, until I checked your channel 😂
Lmao
Me either! It's been 10 years since this video came out and I still can't believe these graphics/physics! My 2013 IMAC pro could never do this!?!*

Ayyy what’s up, Jack?
I flipping love your vids! :)
Ah good old Crysis, the only game where it is possible to get negative frames per second.
I beat this with 1gb ram
@@guydoug2935, my mate bought a computer with 768Mb RAM and it spat out a german error saing you need 1Gb; guess you were the minimum.
We have all been there though, when command and conquer 3 came out I was using an ATI card that could barely process UT2004 at max @ 1080p can't remember the card now.
@@gameshark528 lol i have Samsung S19A300B from 2011 and it has 8gb ram
The graphics of this game are still up to date. This is a piece of art
well, the game was ahead of its time in therms of graphics
@@NoirPooperBR And ahead of every PC
I still cant run it
That physics is so powerful.
This game still has good graphics even though it was made in 2007. I love this game!
Who cares about graphics, its the gameplay that counts ^^
***** Because most of the Times, a game has only one of these two
***** But still, to me gameplay has a much higher priority than graphics.
decom70 "Who cares about graphics, its the gameplay that counts" - Typical reasoning of console fanboy, based on my observation not only in this site but also on various gaming forums whenever they argue against PC owners.

Yeah! I agreed with you, If this was made in Today's Game Engine or Physics Engine (Because they poorly optimized it).

This was the video that led me into the binge watch that helped me discover Garry's Mod. I was so jealous of PC gaming for the longest time. I was like 10 back then. Holy shit I feel old.
Same here, thats the first video i remember-also how i discovered GMOD :)
10 back then and you feel old ? Get outta here lol.
+Ned well, I mean 20 is kind of old. Especially compared to the Internet, which hasn't been around that long.
It is not old lol. You might think so, but it's definitely not.
Same here. I was so awed by the physics and graphics of this video back in the day, I still don't understand why this kind of fps can be replicated now with "next-gen" consoles (it's actually seems to be worse).
Aside from that, I also was impressed by the modding, but especially aspects like weapon customization, FPS player shadow, player body, and rag doll physics. I even remember one time trying to buy Crysis Warhead when I still didn't fully understand the concept of "PC only games" as if my PS2 could even run such a thing (I was like 11)
I also remember gameplay footage, back then I thought Nomad was some sort of mercenary one-man-army fending for himself, I still get those vibes even though I know that isn't the actual plot. It is incredibly weird to think that such an advanced and entertaining game was made so long ago!
I recently picked up the console version of the original Crysis (2011 remastered) and I love the game to death! They need to make another remastered or I won't let my PS3 go!
this video is what got me really started in pc gaming. it completly fried my brain on how computers from back in 2008 could pull off something like this
Even though I've been primarily a pc gamer all my life this video showed me what PCs were truly capable of even back in 2007 and it blew my mind.
Aww, the original music is gone. This is literally the video that got me into Kalmah, and subsequently into metal! :(
Me too, "moon of my nights" in this video was the first time when I heard Kalmah
I'm still playing Crysis while listening to Death/Heavy/Nu metal :'D
Crazy how far we've come since this, and this still looks good
We didn't even move an inch from that time in terms of physics fidelity, in fact we are regressing. Today's games have barely ANY physics at all. They are an empty static shell.
@@AdiiS What about the videos recently of people messing around with the physics in Starfield? I thought it was pretty impressive the number of objects that was being simulated without glitching and also individual shadows
The stuff in Tears of the Kingdom also comes to mind of well built physics and object interaction systems
@@notbriann Starfield is crap in comparison to Crysis from 2007. Crysis has waaaaaaay more movable objects in the visable enviroment. Not even a contest lmao.
@@notbriann
Starfield has barrel empty levels and not a hint of destructible environments. Meanwhile in Crysis 1 you can cut nearly every tree in a jungle, blow up small buildings, destroy fences and crates, pick up nearly anything on the ground and throw it.
This guy should remake the video on Crysis Remastered with 2022 RTX technology and see if he can look directly into the explosion. I was always baffled at how this sandbox video was made back in 08...like this guy must've stolen a computer from NASA or something.
It's not that he can't see the explosion. But because "Cool guys don't look at explosions!"
Hello from 2024, it still looks impressive!
I remember, this video made me get a summer job to earn enough to build a PC that could play Crysis...and to this day it's still my favorite FPS
The fact that the game engine was powerful enough to show the barrels falling so smoothly really is amazing. If you try to do this in Garry's Mod for instance, source is insanely choppy regardless of the hardware you're running on.
I know this is taken at a very low framerate and sped up, but with source the object collisions usually glitch out regardless of the speed you have it at as well.
the way to do this in source is record a demo, then startmovie and then you'll get a bunch of jpegs
back in the day you were able to encode it to avi tho but those days are long gone
2021 and it's still a gem!
Can't wait to relive this in crysis remastered
F
This is the reason why games should never hit cpu limits when old cpu can do this
This is a Q6600
yea but not realtime framerate, in reality this wouldve been at like 1 fps
No Kalmah? What a shame...
This video was one of my favorites growing up, and the glorious song just completed it. This new song just doesn't belong.
One reason why copyright laws are being taken too seriously and too far.
I know right - I fell in love with Kalmah and metal 100% after wtching this video, and sometimes its good to look back. I remember he even had the start of the solo match up with the actual full on explosion too. It was epic!
I will simply download the video and change it back to Moon of my nights :D
I remember when the music was kalmah that's the video that introduce me into this band
+NeonKnight same for me
yep, shame it's still not on it, nostalgic nonetheless
Ye, withouth Kalmah this video is just meh.
Same here! it was actual this video (with Kalmah) that introduced me to extreme metal in general!
Kalmah great and underrated band !
FOR ALL WHO THINK THIS IS THE REAL FRAMERATE LOOK IN THE DESCRIPTION PLS.
I miss the olden days of PC gaming.
Too many console ports nowadays....
Pc gaming is way too overpriced, a laptop from 2005 costs over a thousand dollars when I can just get an Xbox for just 300 or 500.
@@fungusamongus9686 where are u shopping lol. and its not overpriced pc's are just better so they're worth more.
@@fungusamongus9686, except even a mid specced laptop could play it; mine could and was around 600 - 700 dollars AUD; I also used it for 7 - 8 years with no issues.
Just keep it uncluttered and reformat each year and it was golden, basic maintenance; like how people are supposed to look after the console instead of stuffing it into a TV cabinet where it cooks itself and then have people crying over it not lasting long.
Try chucking a microwave into an area where it's own heat will come back to cool it down and let me know how long it lasts :)
@@fungusamongus9686
PS4 has specs of a mid range 2012 PC with a crappy 2008 level CPU.
Xbox One has specs of a PC with a mid range 2011 GPU with a slightly better CPU that the PS4, but extremely slow memory.

This video introduced me to Kalmah back 7 years ago, where'd it go? D:
Copyright ruined another classic memory. I actually went and opened the original audio in another tab just for old times sake
ME TOO
Same here lol
NICE! I calculated it out and this took you over 10 hours to get those 4 minutes at .02 frames a second. Thanks for taking the time!
One of the first videos I ever watched before I got my first custom pc. That was 6 years ago. Thanks yo
1 frame every five seconds. 30 frames a second, so 2.5 minutes to render 1 second of footage at 30fps. 2.5 minutes * 240 seconds = 600 minutes = 10 hours of frying your computer.
i think.

These graphic are better than most games today (2015)
This is my second account :D Hi PAST ME (2023)
Jesus, this was the video that made me buy an 8800GT all those years ago. Coming from a 128MB, I thought I'd be set forever with that 512MB beast.
Top of the line cards for about 300 euros.
And even then it seemed expensive considering that was most of the cost of a console. I miss those non-crypto bullshit/less price-gougey times 🤣
ThAt was 1 of the coolest vids I've seen regarding crysis , awesome stuff man. Very fun 2 watch.
good old times
Jesus christ do people even bother to read the description or even the god damn upload date of this video? This was six years ago for fuck sakes. Not something recent. And all of the info about his PC (back then) are posted in the description.
Core 2 Quad + 8800 Ultra
It was my dream at that time
Madman had a PC capable if running Crysis in 2007.
Oddly satisfying
I want to know if newer hardware could handle the 3000 barrel explosion? Is there a file I can download to try this or do i have to stack all of those damn barrels myself... I'm to lazy for that.
Copy paste
a few years later
still can't do it cus game is very unoptimized
Who is watching this in quarintine?
these kind of videos was what got me really into gaming the first time i saw some of these mass physics videos i didnt even know that crysis was even a game at all thought these were some kind of tech demos or something!
It was a game made for a promotion of cryengine

YES! Thank you!
Nah fam it was kalmah- moon of my nights or something like that.
U mod makers r crazzzzzzzy😅
gta iv physics is shit compared to crysis.
🤣🤣 15 years later. and still the best Crysis Video out there 🤣🤣
Crysis has fps drops to 30 fps with alot of ai soldiers fighting me on i5-4670k @ 4 GHz and gf 1070 @ 2Ghz :D
I also have a gtx 1070 and confirm that
Yeah Crisis 2 and 3 are much better optimized.
I remember when I saw this when I was a kid. Real nostalgia.
But yeah, the song is a different one
Wow, I remember watching this when I was 7, and even almost 10 years later, this video is still pretty damn impressive.
Does anyone know how to recreate these barrel mods? It's 16 years later, I'm an adult now with a NASA computer, and one of the first things I want to do is this. This is like the father of all PC building inspirations. This is my declaration of independence lmaooooo
3:13 "cant look at the explosion for more than 2 seconds or my system will crash"
*raises eyebrows mischievously in 2020*
After so many years, I've finally found this again..
lol, I love the panning and zoom shots with the screamo in the background. Absolutely hilarious.
"It represents not the real framerate of the game with my computer system. …"
which begs the question of how much can be done with today's graphics.
From what I've seen, a top end system today is about 13 times faster than his rig [in the video]
He only got 0.2fps with his rig, so a new rig with an i7 5960x and a GTX 980 ti by my rough estimates, you'd be able to get 2.6fps. :)
Imagine going to all of this effort and then uploading it in 480p
and then you realize the year is 2007 and hd would've costed you way more time to render
When I watched this video as a kid. It still had Kalmah - Moon of my Nights as musictrack. Guess youtube copyright got into it.. Still epic video though!
This video is awesome this just shows how far ahead PC gaming was this was the last game of the golden age of PC gaming.
Because of this video I discovered Kalmah. It's my favourite band now. Thank you for that!
This was the video that made me get a gaming pc and buy Crysis back in 2007
Perfect combo, lots of explosion and sweet music! Cant get beter!
This makes me quite nostalgic for some reason, 2007 was a great year for PC gaming.
Apparently whoever made this video in 2007 worked at NASA lmao, I was lucky to get over 30 fps during normal gameplay, and I had a pretty decent PC at the time
"The real framerate without rendering was around 0.2, that means every 5 seconds a picture in some parts, so its not playable in realtime with this amount of barrels in the year 2008.
To get this smooth video, i recorded each frame and processed all pictures to a 30 frame/sec. video"
Just got into this game last month. Haha a little late but better than never. I cannot believe what i missed out on! Very playable to a high degree, and 2007 doesn't seem too long ago with this game. Timeless.
Hello from 2020 during the COVID-19 PANDEMIC. WE ARE STILL ALIVE.
i just love how you can pick up / throw your environment ^^
This is the video that led me to begging for my first gaming PC and ended up getting one for Christmas., good times I'm 25 now I was 13 then

Awesome! I'm impressed by how you recorded it, it looks very good!
i really miss the level editor ! that thing was crazy easy to use and you was able to make your own level
they had that? hm that makes more sense
A fine example of video game art, this is just insane :-) well done on the 5 Million views too!
Lmao he needed to take time rendering each frame. That's some dedication.
whyd this suddenly resurface in my brain after like ten years.

2021 still beyond impressive I even think crysis 2 is still perfect
I would love to see this replicated on computers today.
its just so sick that the grapichs are sooooooo cool and realistic
The video that introduced me to Kalmah and for that I love the video on that basis alone.
holyshit, this still looks amazing by now
Incomprehensible power.
Just want to come back to this gem as a internet classic. But I am pretty sure I remember the original video using the song Moon of my Nights from Kalmah but maybe that is just me
It was!
wtf what kind of computer must this guy had back then to pull this off
Nothing special.
You could do this even on a potato PC of the time as long as you could run the game.
With a few console commands, you can make the game render a single frame at a time and save it, it will be extremely slow but it won't crash.
Then at the end you can turn all those frames into a video that plays smoothly.
@@GoldSrc_ Crysis also just let you render videos in-engine like you were using Blender. They were really proud of the engine.
Crysis still looks effing amazing even in 2011. It really was way ahead of it's time.
