I'm thinking about rooting my k1c mainly for KAMP. After it's installed does it just automatically use it instead of the default full bed leveling or is it something I have to enable in the slicer?
I didn't know there were any cons... well JK there are a few and I've had a couple of them, I'll think about it and see if I can fit it into the schedule.
My pleasure, I've tried to give you just the info you need. I found it hard to find anything good when I did this a few months ago for the first time and walkthroughs are usually so long and, well boring.
@@philipershler420 It works really well, I was going to show that part in the video, but decided that I wanted to keep it as short as possible. I've only had one problem with rooting, and it was because I also installed Guppy on my K1, when I did this, it set my printer's IP to 0.0.0.0. but it wasn't actually that IP, I had to login to my internet provider to find the real IP address and then I was able to connect. It hasn't happened since and I don't know what caused it.
Thank you for the walkthrough! I have done this and now setup Cura to be able to print directly which makes me very happy considering my other printer is an X1C and it was quite annoying having to save the G Code and then upload it to Creality cloud... My question though, Creality Cloud I checked the box for AI detection... how can I ensure that it still does that now that I'm having Cura send it straight to the printer?
Great video, easy to follow along! Quick question. Where can I find absolute zero in machine settings? Upgrading to a machined aluminum tool plate and it's 3mm thicker.
I am pretty sure Creality is working on a color printing method. they have most of the components in place to do it, maybe use the USB on the front or the extra slots in the board. If we could even get one more color I'd be happy with that! After printing with color for some time now, I have gone to using only 2-3 colors and they're usually only in on the first layer or in one small spot on the model. Color is too expensive and too time consuming... unless maybe you're running the Prusa XL with multi-heads!
had to root my k1 max to disable fan check, my printer worked completely fine, at some point I started getting key 109 error, I disassembled printer, checked all my fans, and all of them worked well, I researched the internet, and many people claimed that replacing fans or even board, may not solve the issue... So..... rooting, and disabling check for throat fan helped
Thanks for all your help. This worked for me. It allowed me to connect via Orca and print remotely. But why did we install 1 to 8? I don't quite understand.
The installation isn't just a single set of codes, it's separated, you don't need to install all of them, but there are some features which won't be activated unless you do. It would be nice to have the install do all necessary programs at one time, but this is not setup for one printer, not to do just one task, someone more skilled than I am could explain it better, but you may want to add/remove certain parts while other parts are unaffected.
@@KealTR No worries, most of it is beyond me as well, some of the features beyond 8 are also pretty neat, but they're getting more advanced and it's good to just start with the basics.
Thanks for making a straight and to the point video. I followed both this and the guide from Guilouz and the only issue ran into is im not able to access my camera. Do you know if theres a work around for this yet? the error its throwing for my k1max is "you have the new hardware version of the camera and its not compatible!"
I got everything running it seems. However, I cannot see my K1 Max Camera in the devices tab. The window just isn't there. Am I missing something obvious?
If you wish to change the printer's default ssh password, you can do so using the "passwd" command after logging on to the printer. Leaving the default password can be risky, as it's like leaving the keys in the lock. Anyone can connect to your printer if they have access to the ssh port (22) and because it's basically a linux computer, they can do a lot of stuff.
Well... That's the problem x) I don't know if it is possible to display it on the screen. 3D printing the password would be a solution so you can keep it on the printer just in case it is forgotten 😁. If you don't want to change the password, you can start by at least changing the default ssh port. Thank you for all of your videos on the k1 max, super helpful! UPDATE: Resetting the printer will also restore the password

You're very welcome, I know that when I tried to do this the first time it wasn't so easy, after a few times you get the hang of it. I thought a quick video might help a few people.
followed the guide and worked for me. question though, the after the root the z axis stepper motor doesnt shut down anymore after auto leveling and gets a bit hot. do you know of a fix?
So what are the main benefits of doing this? Like does this improves print quality? Does this improves it's average print speed? Are there any negative sides to it? Thanks
It allows you to access all of the files on the printer, which means that if you want to get more advanced, you can do that. It allows you to install KAMP, which is a better way of probing, which is more precise and efficient, it allows you to use Orca slicer which is better than Creality Print by far, or other slicers and send directly to the printer over WIFI, you'll have a better interface with your printer using Fluidd or Mainsail as well. There are many more reasons, but that's just what comes to mind right now. No you don't need to, but if you want better results and more control, it's a good idea. The GITHUB is constantly being updated as well to simplify it and include new features.
Tried rooting my k1 and when I enter the script i get a message for "Fatal too many arguments" any idea how to fix this? I am stuck and hoping I didn't make an irreversible mistake

I assume the extra file clashes with a command in the Kamp folder, so assume I need to disable something in Kamp to do with input shaping. Does this sound right and ant tips on what to do? I have also seen another clip where they were able to add different camera's configs to adjust brightness etc. Are there options to activate these in your root files that i am just unable to fine?
It may not be released yet from Creality, there are some changes to the printer which might cause them to want to wait on that. The motors for XY are smaller and run smaller timing pulleys and that's supposed to reduce the VFA issues (It seems to work) aside from that though it should be pretty much identical from a firmware standpoint. Does yours have a filament runout sensor in the extruder now?
@@NeedItMakeItNot that I know of, I only see a filament sensor at the back of the machine. I just finished installing the root access and most of the features, only one I could not do is the camera settings since it says I have an updated version of the camera and it is not compatible.
@@alannguyen5050 I think there is some info online about the camera, I believe I've read about it somewhere while I was doing some research. I did this tutorial and fluid is asking for a user and password. How do I fix this? mainsail will not load either, I did a factory reset and tried again but got the same thing.
We have a K1C, do you think this info will apply the same to this printer? We are interested in Rooting the printer but wonder about the obstacles, being a newer model.
I'm not sure that they've released the firmware to allow it to be rooted yet, do you have an option at the printer to select ROOT? If not it will be available soon, and it will be the same process All of my newer Creality printers are done the same way. The KE was rooted recently as well, works really well, I just really prefer having a Klipper setup and the ability to have full control.
@@NeedItMakeIt ok thank you! We will check that to see if root is an option. Do you have a K1C yet? I run an A1 and my son has a Frankenstein 'd Aquila C2 so we are still learning..

Hi there, apologies, I didn't see your comment come through. They keep changing the website as they do updates, I've re-linked it. Are you still having some issues?
Yes, there is a factory-reset utility, you should be able to google it, you need it connected to your WIFI and then you'd type your IP for your printer, it will revert it back. I've done this several times and it works well. It will put it back to how it came to you, including the IP address, you'll need to do everything again.
@NeedItMakeIt So i have KAMP installed and everything enabled in the slicer. I went through and configured the settings for KAMP I am getting a proper KAMP purge directly next to the print but no matter what i do it seems to keep meshing the entire bed. Thoughts?
@@FPVPreacher Very strange indeed. I'm going to go for the solution that my IT guy would use first, as silly as it might sound. Have you restarted your computer? I say this because I've had some trouble with Orca and other slicers when I switch between printers, sometimes it doesn't seem to do what I asked it to and thinks I'm still on a different printer... when the K1 thinks it's a Max... very bad things happen. My only other thought for you is to uninstall KAMP, and then reinstall it, perhaps we have a case where one of the files was not modified through the helper script.
@@NeedItMakeIt of course. Unlike many people. My pc actually doesn't stay on over night. I definitely think it's something in the configuration on the K1 because I have a hotrodded S1pro and it works with KAMP just fine.
@@FPVPreacher I had something similar but it was completely my fault, when I installed KAMP the first time I did it manually, that ended up being a mistake, when I found the helper script... they did not get along and it cause a lot of problems. I ended up resetting the printer to factory, re-rooting it and then installing KAMP and it worked perfectly afterward. That was my dum-dum mistake though, and not having experienced it before I didn't know exactly what to look out for. Creality Print also has exclude parts now, can you try through that slicer to see if there is a difference?
Doing this is made possible by Creality, however they also have warnings about affecting the warranty. The issue with rooting the printer and their concern with it is that you will now have full control to change anything. That means that you can change things that you may not yet understand and bad things can happen. I believe that is why they have the warning message appear. I have so many printers now and I haven't had to use a warranty claim for anything yet. if there is a problem I can usually fix it myself, but I can't really say I remember a time when I've had something fail. I'll have to think about that for a while, but I don't think there has been a case yet.
There are other software options, I think someone in the comments asked the same question about a month ago, what you're looking for is SSH for MAC, you should be able to google it and find the equivalent.
Your Terminal app on your Mac is exactly that, maybe a bit simpler version. But it supports SSH connections natively. I did not try this on my Mac (yet) but should be pretty much the same as on this video
Hi, I have problem with K1. It's changing IP adress whenever I turn it off and on. So every time I want to use OrcaSlicer for example I must firstly check new IP on the printer and then type it to Slicer. It's super annoying, the printer is connected to the router via WIFI. Can you help with that?
I have this on occasion, I bet there is a way to set the IP to be static, but it's a bit beyond me. I think you can do this through your WIFI. I can see that being very annoying and I find it annoying and mine only does it once a month or so. It must be related to the IP address being taken by another device.
It sounds like a connection problem, you can do the old restart, it seems to be related to the WIFI connection with the printer. It could also be the IP address. Sometimes the IP will change since they're not set as a static IP and this could be part of the problem in your case, it has happened to me on occasion.
@@NeedItMakeIt I see, so what do you suggest doing as without this problem being resolved I can’t root my printer and then level it as shown in your other videos
@@Rolman3D I'd go through the root process again, double check your IP address as well. If you can't SSH into your printer it's related to the IP/WIFI or whether you've accepted the conditions of Rooting on your printer. You're stalled until you can get that part sorted out. It should be fairly straight forward to sort out by ticking each of those things off of the list one at a time. You may also consider, disconnecting from your WIFI and then reconnecting and re-checking your IP address as well.

Good lord I'm out of my element. Onn the first install it loads the script, but if I want to reload and access the main menu can someone help out and direct me how to do that?
You're welcome. It looks like the creator has made some upgrades to the process as well, which is one of the nice things about this setup, you can always be up to date.
You can simply type your printer's IP address into your search-bar, if you haven't rooted yet, it'll bring you to Creality's UI, if you have already, you'll need to add :4408 to the end of your IP address, or :4409 depending on which UI you prefer. Let me know how it goes.
FYI, the procedure with a K1C is very different. Constructive criticism - this was a very difficult video to follow since you cut scenes so quickly. I appreciate you keeping it short, but at a major loss in usefulness. at the end you don't even talk about how get to the web UI's. so now I have to go find another video for to figure out the last steps to use it.
The machine should already been rooted or have an option to do so with a press of a button. There's enough memory in the machine to do it. Ceality is just being dicks about things.

thank you for creating some amazing videos. i have a k1max. if i root the device would i still be able to use the accessory side mounted cooling fan when slicing with creality slicer. i have noticed some where else that there were some issues when rooting. sorry if i missed this info in any of your ealier videos. thank you
I'm thinking about rooting my k1c mainly for KAMP. After it's installed does it just automatically use it instead of the default full bed leveling or is it something I have to enable in the slicer?
Do you have any advice for access denied after entering passed the password screen?
Would love to see a video of the pros and cons of rooting K1 max/K1.
I didn't know there were any cons... well JK there are a few and I've had a couple of them, I'll think about it and see if I can fit it into the schedule.
Thank you so much my man I’m gonna try this later today!!!🎉🎉🎉
My pleasure, I've tried to give you just the info you need. I found it hard to find anything good when I did this a few months ago for the first time and walkthroughs are usually so long and, well boring.
One comforting addition, even if the rooting goes astray, one can easily restore the original factory code and start over 😅 or forget it.
It hasn't happened since and I don't know what caused it.
how do i do the mainsail ip part it asks for a port
Thank you for the walkthrough! I have done this and now setup Cura to be able to print directly which makes me very happy considering my other printer is an X1C and it was quite annoying having to save the G Code and then upload it to Creality cloud... My question though, Creality Cloud I checked the box for AI detection... how can I ensure that it still does that now that I'm having Cura send it straight to the printer?
Great video, easy to follow along! Quick question. Where can I find absolute zero in machine settings? Upgrading to a machined aluminum tool plate and it's 3mm thicker.
Great content man!! Really made the whole process easy!!
Do you have any video related to filament (PLA) not sticking into the table? Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Is there a way to reverse this if the printer needs to be returned under warranty?
they dont care about that
Thanks for the video. Just got my K1 and going to root it now. Which slicer do you like best for the K1?
Thanks for your awesome videos, Any chance you could do a video on root the Ender 3 V3 KE please?
It would be nice if someone could get bamboo AMS to work with the creality k1 max and k1
the ams requires a cutter in the print head, else you will purge even more material
I agree
had to root my k1 max to disable fan check, my printer worked completely fine, at some point I started getting key 109 error, I disassembled printer, checked all my fans, and all of them worked well, I researched the internet, and many people claimed that replacing fans or even board, may not solve the issue...
So..... rooting, and disabling check for throat fan helped
@@NeedItMakeIt Thanks for the explanation. I installed all the packages anyway, I don't understand it yet, but I hope I will learn it in time.
Hi do you know software compatible wit mac computers please thank you..
Lidar works after rooting ? With klipper on mainsail ?
I got everything running it seems. However, I cannot see my K1 Max Camera in the devices tab. The window just isn't there. Am I missing something obvious?
th-cam.com/video/s1Os-_35eRQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n-Jb09P4xkJtlHw4 this video will show you how to have the camera it has to do with Crowsnest
Using Fluidd - You have to add a camera from the settings, afterwards you go to "adjust dashboard layout" and add the camera tab.
Good point, do you know how to have the new default password display on the printer screen, just incase it is forgotten?
Well... That's the problem x)
I don't know if it is possible to display it on the screen.
Hello, Thank you for your video, i was able to root K1 and using Fluidd macros I am trying to tune up k1 input shaper. So far I have made much progress, especially levelling bed with mesh visualizer however I'm hoping you can help clarify something, what is the difference between Auto tune shapers, belts shaper calibration, input shaper calibration, input shaper. Do I need to run them all when setting up printer after fresh root?
Hi , I am having great difficulties with my K1
When i use extrection/retraction. The filament flows perfect .
But when i start printing a benchy after 1 min. The flow is going to increase.
And i don‘t know why.
Cheched everything but can‘t find any problem .
My 2e K1 is running perfect on the same file .

Great guide, thanks!
You're very welcome, I know that when I tried to do this the first time it wasn't so easy, after a few times you get the hang of it. I thought a quick video might help a few people.
yeah , was getting errors , but just cloned the zip ,on pc and created the folder, in X server, then just manually uploaded it
followed the guide and worked for me. question though, the after the root the z axis stepper motor doesnt shut down anymore after auto leveling and gets a bit hot. do you know of a fix?
Congratulations on this content, thank you.
I'm in Brazil, can I replicate your teachings in Portuguese?
I will make reference to you.
I have a K1C and after the modification, the head goes beyond the limit of travel and hits against the walls of the printer, how can I correct this?
Can I do this for the Neptune 4 max and if so do I just follow the same direction's.
Great info, thanks!
Tried rooting my k1 and when I enter the script i get a message for "Fatal too many arguments" any idea how to fix this? I am stuck and hoping I didn't make an irreversible mistake
I have got everything installed as in the video. Went smoothly, but can not get printer to link up in orcaslicer, i get an error code about octoprint being required?
Hi. Love the clip. i know this clip was posted months ago, but hoping to get some help. Followed everything to the t and it works great. I do have a couple of questions. I am trying to get my x and y to do separate input shaping test as per this clip th-cam.com/video/d_8ngUsQ8kI/w-d-xo.html but when I install it all and add the include command it goes nuts after save and restart to the point where i had to reset back to factory and root it all over again.
Many thanks for this simple guide. I can't access the camera view, via orca. Am I missing something?
Silly me. needed to add 'printer' to webcam page.
When installing root software I dont see it for the K1C, do I just install flr the K1?
I thought they were showing a filament runout sensor for that printer in the head, but maybe it's not there. I think that could also be the Ender 3 V3 newest Ender (Metal frame) that has the runout sensor in the head.
@@NeedItMakeItYou might be right, that Ender V3 is amazing, it has an automatic belt tensioner so its almost maintenance free. That machine is incredibly solid for the price.
A friend very recently obtained a K1 C and it definitely has the run out sensor on the back.
Hello. In fluidd - my k1 max camera - working well. When i am switch on maisailOS - my camera doesnt work. Maybe i need to instal some features from helper script??
Thanks for the video😍💪💪💪
Thank you very 🙂
I did this tutorial and fluid is asking for a user and password.
@@travismostrom7510 I'd like a K1C, but I have so many printers and projects on the list I don't know if I could even fit it in. The K1C isn't too far from the K1, but has a few nice upgrades. I'm curious about the extruder, it looks like they've updated it again.
I'm still on the Ender 3 KE, I have a linear rail upgrade coming in the next few days for anyone with the same issues I was having, but I also want to try out the new Ender 3 V3 Metal Frame, it looks like a nice unit, and I like that it matches the K1 styling and color combos, a more pro look and less black which is kinda hard to keep clean.
Lots to learn and it never stops, there is a lot of development in this field, I'm just wondering what the next big thing is going to be. We're getting some printers with a MAG-LEV style of motor, no belts so I guess that means no VFAs?
@@NeedItMakeIt 10-4. Well, we are excited to keep learning and evolving. There is a root menu on the K1C so we may try to root it and rewatch you videos and try to see what this printer can do and adjustments we can make. May be asking some more questions soon. 😂 Thank you for answering my questions!
@@travismostrom7510 Okay that's good to know, if there is a root menu, there should be a website that Creality has that corresponds to that, if it's too early the walkthrough might just be the Creality one, but it'll work fine, it just might not be quite as simple as the K1.
Let me know how it goes and if you need any info, I'm happy to help where I can.
Github is completely different now. Updated script to 6.2.0 so have can you follow this?
Thank you for the video. Does any of this prevent me from upgrading to newer official firmware?
You might want to revise the video, as of March 10th the Wiki completely changed and now the script is called Helper Script (V. 5.0.0)
Pretty sure you have to factory reset your printer and redo the process for firmware updates.
I need only fluidd, I not want more. It is possible to install only the first step?
You'd need to install Moonraker and Fluidd, I suppose it's possible that you can do those installs and see where that leaves you. It won't be full-featured since there are some extra functions which become available as you do the other installations down the list.
did everything to the t and nothing happends. i installed 1-9 and 14. says there installed but cannot connect to either port. and your link is difrent now please help
Hi there, apologies, I didn't see your comment come through. They keep changing the website as they do updates, I've re-linked it. Are you still having some issues?
how do you access the new web interface?
nevermind lol i guess i should have finished watching the video lol
Cr-10 se?
I didn't find the link where I go to copy the commands and paste them into moba!
I would like to know if the procedure is reversible? Can I go back to the original? In what way ?
Yes, there is a factory-reset utility, you should be able to google it, you need it connected to your WIFI and then you'd type your IP for your printer, it will revert it back. I've done this several times and it works well. It will put it back to how it came to you, including the IP address, you'll need to do everything again.
@NeedItMakeIt
So i have KAMP installed and everything enabled in the slicer. I went through and configured the settings for KAMP I am getting a proper KAMP purge directly next to the print but no matter what i do it seems to keep meshing the entire bed. Thoughts?
Yes, you need to enable Exclude parts and label parts if you have them. Which slicer are you using?
@@NeedItMakeItI have them enabled, its orca slicer. I have even used exclude object a few times when i had issues on a big print.
Is doing this fully supported by Creality? Doing so wont affect warranty or anything?
Doing this is made possible by Creality, however they also have warnings about affecting the warranty. The issue with rooting the printer and their concern with it is that you will now have full control to change anything. That means that you can change things that you may not yet understand and bad things can happen. I believe that is why they have the warning message appear.
I have so many printers now and I haven't had to use a warranty claim for anything yet. if there is a problem I can usually fix it myself, but I can't really say I remember a time when I've had something fail. I'll have to think about that for a while, but I don't think there has been a case yet.
Is it possible to root the K1 using a Mac. MobaXterm isn't available for the Mac.
Looks like the install helper is Gone. Getting a 404 error when trying to open the link
They keep updating the site and the links are changing, I've updated it again, please give it a try now.
Have you notice any high CPU usage? Even on idle I get around 70-80% CPU doing nothing.
I can't say that I have, I'd have to go back and check to be sure though.
I've just tried to follow your tutorial and can't seem to root my printer "ssh: connect to host ~~~.~~.~~~.~~~ port 22: Connection timed out"
It sounds like a connection problem, you can do the old restart, it seems to be related to the WIFI connection with the printer.
@@NeedItMakeIt I’ve made sure on the printer to enable rooting, I’ve checked the IP over and it matches the printers IP and my Phones IP, the wifi that I’m using is a student accommodation wifi network so maybe that’s part of the problem. It’s more than likely to do with my windows 11 instillation on my laptop itself though
has anyone got the factory camera to work once rooted?
Hi. i believe you have to go into the settings tab in fluid or mainsail and add the camera. i use fluid and the setting tab is 2nd or 3rd from the bottom on the left. You then go to camera setting and add camera. just choose device camera (i think) and give it a name a its done. i am trying to figure out how the get the extra camera feature like brightness adjustment etc.

@@lelolwlp No worries, the other issue can be that your printer isn't close enough and has trouble connecting. This is a common problem for me as I am in my workshop/garage and it isn't the best connection.
Any way to set the ip address in orca? Mine always dissappear when I reboot my pc
That's not normal, it should keep it. You will probably need to reinstall Orca. I've never had to re-enter the IP because of it being empty. On occasion my printer's IP will change and I'll need to re-enter that.

i press enter but dont get any message
I assume you're talking about when you've SSH'd in? If so, I'd restart your computer, mine was playing games like this as well.
I can actually use the stock command prompt on my pc, idk why 😂
I couldn't find the webuis to put my ip address.
I appreciate you keeping it short, but at a major loss in usefulness. at the end you don't even talk about how get to the web UI's. so now I have to go find another video for to figure out the last steps to use it.
you can just use Command prompt..
The machine should already been rooted or have an option to do so with a press of a button. There's enough memory in the machine to do it. Ceality is just being dicks about things.
I agree, there is no reason that it couldn't be rooted from the beginning.
@@NeedItMakeIt I consider the k1 junk. The lideor sensor has no point. Except for getting in the way of taking the printhead apart. After replacing the extruder gear set and seeing how cheap the electrical connections are in the printhead. I was thinking to myself they know that this is going to have to be taken apart by the users eventually so let's make the electrical connections as small as f-ing possible.
I'm using a pei sheet for ender 3 Max neo. Which is 10 times better than a piece of crap that came with the machine. The small cheap shipping bolts , two were bent and one was completely broken off.
The suggested settings for material is like a 5-year-old just making up ship because he has no clue on what he's talking about.
The more I use it the more I keep thinking this piece of crap is better off on eBay.
Muito bom, me ajudou muito ❤
