Thanks for the presentation Mark. Hope Aldi has it over here, too. Especial thevadditional features are interesting. And if it won't last forever, for this price it's okay. If I buy a bag of buns for the family it costs more in the backery.
Hi Dirk and many thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment! I would expect that Aldi sell these tools across most of their stores. Yep, I would not expect this to last a lifetime, but at the price, it's worth having around the home for those little jobs that crop up every now and then. It's dome a great job of soldering LEDs for my latest Tamiya, so I'm very happy with it. Have a great Sunday, my friend!
Cheers Barry! Yeah this iron does so well considering it's only 30W. It really did do well on those test jobs. I have had some great bargains from Aldi in the past and hope this turns out to be just as good 👍
Looks great, I like the details with sponge and crocodile clips. For £10 I guess it’s an excellent deal! Thanks for sharing the review, maybe Aldi in Denmark has them too
Hi and many thanks for watching, my friend! Yes, it's a great deal and works very well, I bet Aldi in Denmark has them too! All the best from Mark... :O)
Thanks, Craig, you could do a lot worse than this little soldering iron! Honestly, it did a great job and I'm really impressed with it, and that's coming from an ex-telecoms engineer with 20 years experience! Well, that was me in another life! All the best, mate! :O)
Awesome deal, Mark! And a nice presentation you did of it. I have a cheap one I got off Amazon, the kind with a power supply you can regulate the heat, but I found for 10th scale RC car purposes, I often just use the one that plugs into the mains directly!
Cool, thanks for the kind words, Mads! Yep, I know what you mean, for a little job it's nice to just plug in and go! Of course there are better irons available, but not at this price-point. Take it easy my friend! :))
For a full featured little kit for that price is really great. Good that it can do the larger wire too as it is really frustrating to sit there and cook wiring forever to find out it did a half way job in the end. This one looked like it did a really good job of it.
Hi Addam. You got that right, trying to "cook" solder onto a connection is never a good thing! I really am impressed with the heat up time and power of this iron, it's already doing a good job of soldering the LEDs for my Escort build, so I'm pleased with my £10 purchase! Cheers!
Great find mate, I don't blame you for picking that up for a tenner. Lots of weird and wonderful stuff shows up in Aldi from time to time. Nice review too showing how effective it was with those two examples. Looks like a top product pal..🙂👍🏻.
Thanks dude! I have bought so many Aldi tools that I have lost count - always found them perfect for occasional use and awesome value. The odd one or two that failed have always been replaced or refunded with no quibbles - can't argue with that! Cheers my good friend! 👍
Nice one Mark , if Aldi has this in Australia I'll get one . Some things Aldi has are great and the price is good to. Everytime I have to solder I've got no go to the garage and use my big soldering station. This would be a handy little machine. I finally bought an optima, eBay had a few I was about to buy for $550 but they had a sale ,$499 with a $100 off coupon. Then my sees a Top force evo and says doesn't this look great and I need to get it . Told her that things a beast of a thing and everyone wants one. She's got expensive taste but yeah the top force is a beautiful beast. Can't blame anyone for liking these.
Hi Peter and thanks very much for the always great comment. Oh yeah, Aldi are good at getting the price point right and offer some good deals for the hobbyist! Great to hear you got an Optima and a good deal on the price, too. It's an awesome buggy, for sure. Oh man and a Top Force as well? Now you have the cake and can eat it!!! Have fun, mate! :O)
Hello, Mark - oddly, I have exactly the same unit. The station has a slight tendency to fall over, dragged by the weight of the mains cable, if I don't take care to prevent the cable from falling off the table, but otherwise, as you say here, it's a really good piece of kit. Goodness knows how Aldi does it for the money!
Hi Del, that's blooming amazing that you have the same one! I agree, the cable is far too heavy, but as it plugs directly into the mains I suppose it has to be, for safety. I have bought so many Aldi tools that I have lost count - always found them perfect for occasional use and awesome value. The odd one or two that failed have always been replaced or refunded with no quibbles - can't argue with that! I don't know how they do it either! :D

Hi Mark, this is a decent soldering set. Best part is the alligator clips, essential for soldering connectors. I’ve never purchased an expensive iron. I find for the rc car hobby moderately priced gear is good enough. Take care 👍🏾
Yep, this iron is not too shabby! Agreed, those clips make each job so much easier, as you say, essential really. And I too have found that you don't need professional grade gear for the occasional hobby job! All the best to you and your family, Paul. :)
Nice little iron Mark, all these years the RC industry has been telling me I need at least a 60w iron, this just shows I don't. Awesome tool and cheap too, cant go wrong with that. Long gone are the days of building your own battery pack so this should be perfect in today's RC world (how's work for soldering wires onto a motor?). ATB my friend, you know the drill.... LOL
Right on, brother Bob! Yeah, this proves that 30W is enough for most jobs, I tried soldering a motor cable and it was a breeze!
