    I am a disabled golfer playing with only one hand. This club was my saving grace to playing better golf and being able to compete again. Due a freak accident, my fingers on my left hand were amputated 7 years ago and I didn't think I would ever play again. Now able to play and compete off an 11.5 handicap using only my right hand

    I was not having trouble getting out of the bunkers, but several of the guys in my men's club got the C3i and I figured why let them have an advantage I don't have. Well, I got the wedge (actually TWO wedges) and I must say that it's made a big difference in my sand play. Now I'm no longer looking to get out of the sand. Now I feel as though I can go for the flag and I'm getting up and down a lot more.

    Great video, honestly pointing out the weaknesses and the strengths of a 65* C3i wedge. I play with a 65* XE1, and believe these clubs should be called, 'Par-Savers.' Any miss of the green within 100 feet, this club can put the player in a position to save the par.

    I have only been playing golf for about 8 months and recently purchased the C3i wedge. With my limited knowledge of the game, the C3I has helped me a great deal with chipping and hopefully will improve my knowledge of the bunker shots. I like the club very much and your video is very
    informative. Thanks.

    Excellent review! I am a 5 handicap and I play one of these and it immediately cut stokes off my game. Learning which situations to use or not use the bounce is key but these types of wedges are secret weapons in my opinion.

    • @topneorej
      @topneorej 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 5 handicap already knows how to chip pretty well, so it's absolute bullshit he won strokes with this club.
      A 25 handicap can go to 22 or something, but never a low single handicap.

    • @adrianjones5521
      @adrianjones5521 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      topneorej There is a big difference between a 5 handicap going to a 3 handicap and shaving a couple strokes off per round. Yes comparing my stats with the club there was an immediate 2 to 3 shot improvement in my scrambling and bunker numbers. The shots launch in the shot window that I like to see my pitch shots come out of and I have enough swing speed that it is a one trick pony club because I can hit the 65 degree 95 yards with a towering trajectory. The 15 rounds that I have played with the club showed immediate improvement and should go a long way to me becoming a 3 handicap or better in the long run.

    Another Alien copy, I have two Aliens a knock off and the one they sold 30 years ago (Pat Simmons). If your starting out in golf these are really helpful around the greens but as you get more proficient in the game put them away and use a decent sand wedge, you can do a lot more with it. The Alien/C3i Wedges have limitations that get a better player in trouble.

  • @PkGam

    I came across these at a used club store and set up to see how it was. I was stunned at just how much bounce they had, lol! Like, they had these really firm carpet squares so it looked as if it hovered over the ground at address despite laying on the ground. I looked it up later and found it's 12 degrees of bounce, which wouldn't be an issue if the sole was thinner, but this one is really wide. Delofting it to get it under the ball may be doom to the ones they are marketing it to as the whole idea was to set up square and center to take out the variables and make it easy. So they may have overdid the bounce angle.

    So, recognizing that such a club is intended to make the game more enjoyable, particularly for the weekend warrior, I decided to pull the trigger on the 59* model (which requires finding the right customer service rep at Golf Tailor). I used to play a LOT more golf in my younger and less married days. As such, my wedge game is still pretty decent, with the notable exception of bunker play. Not too many courses in my area have traps and those that do vary widely in sand quality, consistency and maintenance. I had room in my bag to play around a bit and added a Tour Edge 1 out last year. I've been very happy with the club, as it has proven useful on a variety of sand conditions. I've used it in the fluffy sand of Florida, the grainier stuff in Myrtle Beach, and the shale infested stuff that passes for sand in N.E. Pennsylvania. The club almost never disappoints. It's also been very useful from heavy rough. That all said however, its been less than stellar from tight fairway lies, so I still carry a 58* lob wedge for those. I pulled the trigger on the C3i primarily because they claim it doesn't engage the bounce on tight lies until AFTER the club and ball have fully met. My understanding is that this is because the bounce is located at the rear of the sole plate. After listening to Troy's accounting however, I'm concerned. My intention is to replace my 58* lob COMPLETELY with the C3i. It's due to be delivered in 2 days, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I will update after a period of testing.

    Purchased the C3i to help me get our of "normal" bunkers, bunkers that are not to dry or too wet. Having problems! Should I make contact in the sand an inch or more behind the ball, or play it like a normal chip shot. If I hit behind the ball, the ball stays in the bunker most of the time. If I hit it like a normal chip/pitch shot and strike the ball first it comes out hot.

    A good review. I bought one and spent ages playing round the practice area and bunkers. As the review states. no good out of hard sand and tight lies. It only has one standard shot, square everything up and swing away. However my 58 degree does exactly the same shot by opening the stance slightly and swinging along your feet line. After 30 days I sent it back because the club is so heavy my wrists ached after 20 minutes practice.

    I took the c3i out today for the second time. Not so good the first time, but today was great...guess it took getting the feel of it. It got me out of the bunker every time, first shot, except for one time. It DEFINITELY saved on some strokes as I usually struggle in the bunker. I watched as my playing partners took 3-4 shots getting out. So far so good...

    It's a pretty club and I'm not saying that it won't work, but it actually cost $20 MORE than the CBX Cleveland wedge that I just bought new! The Cleveland also comes in a variety of lofts, this thing is only 65 degrees. I also think that it would lead to a lot of thinned shots, especially on tight lies, due to the fact that it sits high off of the ground.

    Thanks for the great review! If I'm practicing the "Rule of 12" for chipping around the green, is it a safe assumption that this club would NOT be used in the rule of 12 equation? From your video, it looks like your chipping from close to the green was to get it close to the hole and let it bite for than roll. Hope my question makes sense. Thanks!

  • @kymstock1852
    @kymstock1852 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have to disagree with the reviewer about hitting the 65 C3i on harder surfaces. Simply use more forward shaft lean and use a chipping motion and you can lift the ball out of hard pan bunkers. Inside 45 m from the pin this club will hit the green. It is great for down hill green chip shots when you have to lift the ball over the mounds near the greens when you want the ball to stop. It isn't that accurate up close for chipping uphill unless you use forward shaft lean to de-loft so you can get some run towards the pin. My 56 wedge performed better, but the same situation downhill, the 65 stopped the ball closer to the hole. In summary, the C3i is going into my bag to replace my 60 degree lob wedge. I will use it in difficult lies, but in other lies I will revert to my 56 degree.

    • @kymstock1852
      @kymstock1852 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@USGOLFTVshow At the time I wrote the above comment I had the C3i about 3 months. The video is very balanced in its viewpoint, not an advertorial. The C3i is not ideal for hard lies as stated ( a 4-6 degree wedge is better) but you can use it if you have to. I carry my C3i in winter/soft conditions and if playing a course with grass bunker ( long grass in a depression near the green). A variety of wedge lofts and bounce makes sense for varied conditions. I use a 54 /10 bounce for chipping and medium soft sand, 58 /06 bounce for hard lies and firm sand, 65/? whatever bounce the C3i has for soft sand and long grass ( grass bunkers) or muddy lies.

    Enjoyed the review..!! I bought one a few days ago, and played around with yesterday. I love it. Does everything the review here says. But, like he said, it takes some getting use to, in other words the more you use it the better it gets. I had shots out of the bunkers and ruff that I made with ease, but struggled with from my old wedge. In fact the guy I played with was so impressed by it, and after I let him use it once he's going to get him one. It takes some getting use to, or it did for me, but all in all, I love it...!!! Skulled every single shot out of the green side bunker today using the C3i. And I hit 5 of them. Ball carried another 10-15 yards past the pin each time. Oh, then chunked it short of the green from the rough on the way back. But the good news is I was able to do it with a squared stance. From their website: No digging. No blading.
