I got an 2010 model as my first big bike, own it since 2021 and I love it, yes it feel heavy, changed the tyres to michellin road 5 and its a diferent bike. went from UK to portugal on my first big trip. at any point felt the bike had lack of power fully loaded, I can do 180 miles and the fuel light comes on, only the comfort can be an issue with sore bum and the knees cramped. I find the throttle very predictable. and yes it can sing at high revs.

Consider wearing ear plugs to cut back on wind noise if you don't wear them already. Nice review!

Thanks for posting. I felt the same when I bought mine after a Honda 599 but with a better exhaust and high revs it's great fun. If you rode it more you'd give it 7 or 8/10 not 6. You just didn't ride it aggressively enough 👍

I am 5,11” and this bike feels small and tight… but way better than aR3

This bike ia advertised as beginner bike but take care it has more kick at start than R1.

I own a 2013 fz6r found handling is subjective depending on who you talk to , for me be smooth put good tyres on it and yeah 😁

Hey nice review! Looking in for this bike but i don't know if I'll be down with 2 feet. What's your height? Mine is 1.70cm for comparison! Thanks a lot!!

im 5.6ft without any boots or taller shoes. with me scooted up to the front of the seat i was able to just barely touch my heels down. I would say if need be a 1 to 1.5 inch lowering link should be more than enough to compensate for it. jsut make sure to lower the front as well to not mess handling too much!

Is it a good beginner bike to learn on?

I would honestly say yes if you're looking for a bike that you wouldn't grow out of. It does have more weight than a traditional starter bike but its all up to the rider to respect and understand whatever bike you want to learn on.

I bought the 2013 model after passing the msf with perfect score on a suzuki dr200 and let me tell you it’s heavier but so powerful also if you’re a strong person you can balance it easy

No I'm pretty sure not, the fz8 got it 2013+. These were produced more as budget bikes 👍
