...and then the Cornhuskers fell apart in the NCAA tourney, as always. That collapse was the start of the fall of Danny Nee, despite the fact that he made NEE-braska respected.
Give Hoiberg a chance. He's been at NU only 3 years. Their last two regular season games were upsets over tOSU and Wisky. Trev Alberts says he's giving Hoiberg a fair chance. NU could have had Damon Stoudamire as coach, but he decided to stay at the U. of Pacific, thinking Sean Miller would be fired over at Zona. He left for the NBA, instead.
People around here in Nebraska bitched about Nee while he was here, I did not understand, they were competitive. I watched all those years. Just saw 93 upset over KU recently. They mention he beat Kansas 6 of first 7 years. After he was gone, were they happy. ? , Nebraska regularly beat Kansas, Oklahoma and the other good teams of that era when he was in Lincoln. Otherwise, the guys older than me on the radio pointed out years ago that Joe Cipriano had some success, died young of cancer, but thats about it for NU. Hoiberg just led them to wins over #6 Wisconsin after #1 Purdue earlier. Fred is giving me hope. I think he totally gets it, press asks questions. Get in the NCAA, and get a win, they'll put retired jerseys etc everyone associated with this team in the rafters, and a statue of Fred out front. He guards against it when they talk Tournament, lets not put the cart before the horse 😉
Nee was good, but Hoiberg is also a good coach. NU's late season comeback in 2021-22...including upsets over ranked tOSU and Wisky..is proving he deserves a fair shot. You gotta give The Mayor a chance. Still holding hope he'll turn things around next year. NU has improved this year...by 3 games. Hoiberg is improving each year.
Nebraska chose Fred Hoiberg over Gonzaga associate head coach Tommy Lloyd...who is now Arizona's head coach. How good would NU be had it chosen Lloyd or Damon Stoudamire instead of Hoiberg? NU chose Tim Miles over Tyronn Lue.
@@nighthawk20011 That's what they said about UM, UF, Baylor, AU, Bama, Tenn, FSU, Miami, UND and other football powers. Look what happened. Each of these schools made it to the Elite 8 or better (UF won 2 NC titles and UM and Baylor won one, too.) Someday Neb will get a grand slam hire and that guy will open the floodgates for Husker b-ball.
@@davej.meister5421 someday maybe. Not in my lifetime. After the last Creighton game my 80 year old dad said that he wants to see Nebraska beat Creighton at least once more in his lifetime, but they are quickly running out of time. That hit me in the feels.
Brooks, Randy and Scott Sutton had a hangover. Drinking Captain Morgan. And Bud Lights. Fred Burley was definitely on the Wacky Tabacky. 100% guarantee
I miss ol' Phillips 66. I enjoyed those Saturdays

Danny Nee was the only time Nebraska was even remotely decent. It is hard to believe it's been 25 years now.

Nebraska would suck no matter who the coach is. It's what makes Nebraska Basketball.

Where's Chubick now?
Omaha South.
@@slimmer37 Is he coaching? Is he any good? Maybe NU needs to hire a HS coach to be its next coach.
