Cairo is actually just like any other big city...life is going on all around. It reminded me a lot of India to be honest. Lots of traffic on the roads, so many little shops and marketplaces. Beautiful, big hotels are there too. It's modern but there's a strong sense of antiquity to the entire place...that "dharti" has seen soooooo much and you can feel it when you're there. We didnt get to go to Luxor or any of the other cities in Egypt...definitely gonna explore it all deeply on my next trip to Egypt.

I am in Nigeria. I am planning to visit Pyramids during my layover around 19.30 hrs at Cairo on my way to India. Your blog has covered all my questions. But, I would like to know 1. whether you have hired Adam separately and how much you have incurred for car hire 2. How many hours back we need to come back to airport for immigration clearance (to get the passport back). Waiting for your valuable comments. Thanks in advance.
Hello Sandip ji. Thank you for watching and thank you for your appreciative comments. Now to answer your questions; 1.No we had not hired Adam separately..a representative of Egypt Air approached us when we had just landed in Cairo and were going thru immigration. Adam's guide service was included in the Egypt Air Package and so was the car and driver. I have given Adam's number in the description section if you wish to contact him individually. You can tell him you are contacting him after seeing him in this vlog. Through Egypt Air we paid approximately $20USD PER PERSON. This did not include the entry tickets to the Giza Plateau. 2. The entire tour takes approximately 4 hours if you dont stop for shopping and eating etc. The airline will let you know by what time to be present back at the hotel. You just have to make sure that your guide brings you back to the hotel on time for the shuttle to take you to airport. Adam is very responsible when it comes to that. He made sure we were back even before time. And it's the usual 2-2.5 hours prior to flight that u need to be at the airport. Everything goes smoothly, there are usually no hiccups. You just show your receipt and papers to the Airline desk and you are given your passport back without any hassles. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Sejal!!! Entry in to the Giza Plateau (Pyramids & Sphinx) is 200 Egyptian pounds. You can go INSIDE one of the small pyramids with this ticket but if you want to enter The Great Pyramid then you have to pay an extra 400 Egyptian Pounds. *This does not include the charges of the tour guide and driver.*

Hi i am travelling on 15 Dec next flight is on 16th at 4 PM . i have booked flight from Egyptair only but they haven't provided me any Hotel room for stay .how did u apply for transit visa and stay in Hotel also can you tell me about the layover Tour if u have any info but looks like u were booked business class . nice vlog.
Thank you! If your layover in Cairo is more than 6 hours long then Egypt Air will automatically provide u with hotel stay...at least that is what we have learned. Once you arrive in Cairo they will ask you to go to the "transfers" section where all legal formalities will take place and you will be given an on arrival transit visa. Your passport will be kept by them but in return they will give you transfer documents along with the hotel vouchers for your stay and meals. After that, the Egypt Air personnel will lead you outside to where the transfer bus will come to pick u up and take u to the hotel. You can speak to the Egypt Air reps only to arrange a tour...that's what we had done. They told us it would cost $40 USD (for 2ppl) for 4-hour trip to Pyramids and Sphinx, including guide and car...and once we agreed he gave us Adam's number to coordinate (our tour guide). I've left Adam's number in the description section, you can try contacting him directly if you wish. Once the bus takes you to the hotel, you just show your papers and you will be assigned a room. It's quite a simple procedure. Hope this helps!
