Hornwort Shrimp Tank

Hornwort is an excellent aquarium plant for a shrimp planted tank, since it allows shrimp to perch on it and graze any algae that grows on it. Hornwort can be floated in the water, and does not require any substrate or soil to grow.
In addition, hornwort is a fast grower and adds cover and shelter for shrimp. This makes the shrimp feel safer so that they will be more active and venture out into the open.
The hornwort plant, when properly grown, actually does not shed much needles at all. We rarely need to clean up needles from the hornwort plant, and in any case fallen needles can also be food for the shrimp and snails. From time to time, the hornwort plant needs a good trim, which we also show in the video.
