    Anand, you were fantastic. 5 years of a fantastic world chess championship. Magnus, you're also fantastic. It's brutal how they have to give these press conferences after a tough loss which normally they can avoid, especially people not used to losing, under scrutiny of the world. Congrats to a great 5 year run, and congrats to new world champion.

    Carlsen is extraordinary at 22, we'll see if he burns out or not.

    Magnus you are magnificent!! - a great young man with a fine attitude. I am amazed at his poise, good taste, and elegance. He is humble ( what an odd idea in this era of blow your own horn till it sickens you) All the best. You have a mission in this sorry world of ours. You can really make things happen. And that all this would come from a great northern country - the country of my ancestors. Why should it matter which country? I don't know but it does!! I am proud to be of that origin, proud of my Norwegian ancestors.
    Heartfelt congratulations - it is a new era, I hope -

    I think the play-by-play commentary was executed very well overall. I liked the explanations GM Susan politely provided, teaching chess concepts through orchestrated demo moves on the analysis board to include beginners so necessary to expand the game's appeal. I liked how GM Ramesh probed for various ways to help chess-playing viewers improve their game in asking his colleague her opinion while sharing his. I liked how GM Gupta shared his views sparring with Lawrence while filling in during Tania's absence. I liked how IM Tania laughed and smiled at times to jokes Lawrence had made about a particular game. I really liked IM Lawrence's restraint and unwavering professionalism in not retaliating on-air toward the snide attacking jabs Tania made toward him such as suggesting being a better player than he or feeling comfortable playing black in this position against him, admonishing him for not waving, etc. (I'd pay to watch both IMs play each other after hearing the smack she dished out which struck me as unclassy to be honest which has tainted her outward physical beauty personally-speaking)
    Criticisms I had were how the Indian commentators sometimes interrupted their colleagues mid-sentence or mid-thought despite no move at the champions' board and the rapid speaking made it tougher for me to follow their thoughts.
    Talking for hours yet trying to remain fresh, informative and entertaining takes skills which one may not readily identify with chess players in general or among experts for that matter. Kudos to you all for a job well done!

    Tbh, every chess enthusiast in the world, knew Carlsen would win this championship. An ageing Anand was never going to win, but that doesn't take away his exceptional skills as a player when he was playing with the Kasparov's, Karpov's, Kramnik's, etc.
    Viswanathan Anand is one of the greatest ambassadors and lovely men in this game. He really is a talent among millions. I really thank Anand for being my role model for chess. Without his play, I would never have played chess, let alone learn how to be a good human being. Anand at his peak would smash Carlsen anyday. Unfortunately Anand is a bit old for it all now and I think he should retire and keep his image intact. But ts his choice to try and recontest for his championship,but only time will tell.

    • @nouahlevi
      @nouahlevi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dont think he wouldve smashed during his peak. Carlsen isnt the best player randomly. Also their ratings tell me that Anand during his peak wasnt even close to carlsen during his peak.

    Wow. The commentators dropped the ball again, at the end of the game. They were answering a tweet, while having one of their incorrect analysis lines on the analysis board. Meanwhile, Carlsen and Anand were blitzing out a totally different line and the game ended with everyone stumped as to what had happened. Oy. I certainly hope that there are more focused commentators for the 2016 WCC.

    • @spamwithrice
      @spamwithrice 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      For almost all of the lines in most of the games, the commentators usually predicted the correct lines.

    Susan Polgar talks too much. Hogs every bit of airtime she can.She's too self promoting. Also the four of them kept making the (important) point how they weren't using a chess engine (which I like) but at a few key moments during the match Polgar would make give remarks about which player was ahead in a game according to a chess engine. Someone was tweeting her this information I suppose. But in the spirit of the coverage this wasn't good. The other commentators did a good job.

    Personally the winner should get more acknoledgement that he is the winner and has won the match. If i was not listening carefully you could not tell who the reall winner is. I mean i know chess was invented by indians but the player who wins the game is what the tournament is for not for crediting the maker of the game so in my honest opinion carlson did not get the credit or get to say that he has was clearly the triumphant winner and to let it be seen that he is the champion. I mean after the match the looser played it like he was the actual winner and even after at the interview carlson spoke last and was ignored for the first ten minutes of quesions. To me that is unfair and its kind of looks wierd and unapreciative and if it looks like he doesnt care i would do the same thing after playing so many games and still being treated like your not the winner. Sorry! Be real next time tell the truth and make shure you can tell who won and who lost and accept your defeat.

      The interest in chess among the young, especially in Norway, probably has skyrocketed since Magnus' prominence on the world stage.
      I have no evidence to support your hypothesis of "match fixing" regardless of reason. Unless proven otherwise, racism will never disappear completely around the world; neither will disease sadly. I'm not a pessimist, but a realist.
      It's a shame everyone cannot embrace the beauty of a diverse world comprised of different cultures and practices. Such a world inspires travel for me, never detracts from it..

    Anand could not even hold upto 12 complete games. Worst competition ever. He will be remembered as "Vishwanathan Anand - biggest loser of all time in World chess championship history."
