Also, to add to the point about sonic being real important now compared to when everybody was back then. I dont like how the resistance struggled against Eggman without Sonic, like YALL HAVE SHADOW, KNUCKLES, AND SILVER IN YOUR CORNER BUT YOUR TELLING ME THAT THEY DIDNT PUT UP MUCH OF A FIGHT??! Even if you say those 3 aren't equal to Sonic, it still doesn't make sense that those 3 with the rest behind them couldn't do much without sonic😂😂
Shadow went into hiding for several months when he heard that the guy he had previously humiliated, got a power up... And only appeared to defeat an illusion (A.K.A the only enemy he was sure that he knew that he could defeat).... I think they need sonic more than you think... 💀 But I do see what your getting at here, they were just fighting a basic eggman robot threat so silver, knuckles and everyone else (not shadow) could have definitely done something useful
The thing with Shadow is that: 1. He was upset about Eggman returning and was fully blaming Sonic, so he wasn't in the right headspace to listen. 2. Shadow was made to cure viruses and literally thought the metal virus was an actual disease since absolutely no one was saying "actually they are nanobots that affect living tissue". 3. Shadow had no way of knowing if he could be infected either way. Sonic was able to burn it off with speed, so why wouldn't a being with a direct connection to Chaos Energy? 4. Post-Shadow 05, Shadow absolutely would value saving dozens of people over his own safety. Shadow would fight against the horde to give time to others, regardless of if he can get infected. (Similar to how Knuckles handles his own infection towards thr end of the arc.) If Shadow ran away, it would be EXTREMELY out of character. 5. Shadow was supposed to take off his limiters and make a big show of his sacrifice. Mandates forced a "Nah, I'd win" attitude. 6. After this arc, Shadow cools his head and is allowed to be himself without mandates due to backlash. 7. Ian Flynn wrote the Shadow Generation shorts, so you know he can actually write well and see how much Sega controlled early IDW.
See all that is cool but non of these points are shown to be the case in the actual comic. Albeit due to mandates or whatever sure, but I don’t see a reason to try to defend the scene like this. It just comes off as coping. Yes shadow would do xy&z but it wasn’t conveyed that way in the comic so it just seems irrelevant to me personally.
@@LocalTrapTV It's more just saying Shadow WOULD have done "A" but due to these various factors, he ended up doing "B" instead. Either way the result is the same. It's basically like solving a problem with an unintended solution. Again, either way, Shadow would have fought the horde no matter what based on every facet of his character so the end result doesn't matter much.
I think the only thing truly different about Amy is that while she still loves Sonic, it doesn't dictate her every action now. In the Zombot arc, she got thrown into a position of leadership that she didn't want, but somebody had to step up to it. Personally don't think they thew out her personality for a more "girl boss" trope. She even tried to hand the "boss" role over to someone else, first chance she got. And nah, you ain't the bad guy for having your own opinion.😂😂
Man the way these comments be looking sometimes it seems that way 😂 but yea I see wym but idk I just don’t think the whole resistance thing does anything for her or anyone’s character tbh and I like the direction her character is going in the arcs after the metal virus a lot more
@@LocalTrapTV I think it’s how it was present to us and, the theme of video and many of the conversations had in your community lol, the execution not being the best. Because they agree with Yung in that Amy didn’t go “I will step up because I am girl boss strong woman hear me roar” type shit. She was put in that position because SOME particular knucklehead basically was like “here, I’m going home, and Amy being the Amy we all know can’t just abandon people in need and her desire to help others. I think the problem lies in that both she as a character and us as the audience are thrust into it and there’s really no time of “oh this was put on Amy, not something she wanted to do to “prove” herself” and because shit hits the fan so quick there’s no time for her and us to breathe to a Accept get being the commander of circumstances. It also doesn’t help that the resistance itself is just kinda there? Like it gets better later but first impressions are big and it feels more of a hindrance to Amy the gang rather than something more fleshed out and aiding them as characters.
Man looking at this again before Shadow Gens is kinda crazy now that we gonna get good writing with Shadow 😂. It really was the execution that made so Shadow bad in Metal Virus which Ian has already admitted to and he would do differently. Shadow thinking he would be immune to the virus given the purpose of his creation (which we’ll see more of in Shadow Gens) is honestly not that bad or out of character for him. It’s the “cowards run, I win” shit and him being RECKLESS (which Rouge points out) and not being focused and calculated like he usually is was the entire problem imo. If he’s himself and still gets taken out that’s fine but him getting taken out being reckless and dumb was so bad. 18:40 Also what you said about Amy here is so funny cuz I used to hate her as a kid 😂 but now I MISS that Amy cuz yeah some of her lines and jokes didn’t age well but at least she had spunk and attitude that made her stand out. Now they just made her strong nice girl which she always was but now without any of her quirkiness. They just needed to clean up some of lines and USE her more, not stripe away her spunk.
In terms of "funniest scenes in idw", my personal favorite happened early on, because of how simple it is Soni, after fighting like 4 cities worth of robots, pauses and says "i need a break." And then he just stands there for a moment, then going "alright, good enough". Like, its not absolutely hilarious, but its so simple that i love it
In the games we don't tend to see into sonics head much, just his knee jerk reactions to situation, the philosophical stuff is usually saved for other characters or us the audience.😊
Shadow as the ultimate life form is supossed to be immune to all virus and diseases that exist. Because the name is metal virus maybe he thought he should be immune to it. Which should've been expected that's the reason he probably didn't escape, his pride as the ultimate life form was on the line.
Urban Warfare arc is about when people started talking about Sonic Movie 3 again and its clear that even before that point Shadow Generations was already in production From the way Shadow stands in those issues you can tell things have shifted since his last appearance before that and i hope you enjoy how he is in them
33:58 I can be mad at the fact that he waited around for 6 months without contacting the resistance and sharing about the phantom ruby but considering the 6 month thing was added in later it’s likely they just forgot to account for that or something.
I'll be the one to say it for you local. See we know sonic is fast and because he is everything inside his body that works is also faster like his cells or his systems and you see the cells that take care and kill the bad bacteria bacteria in his stomach are faster and because of that they tend to automatically kill the bacteria before they do much or slower the process of spreading which is why the flash and sonic can't be drunk and stuff like the flu or sicknesses aren't really common to him.
Sonic: "hey shadow, Sega's making a new game! your going to be in it right?!" Shadow: *praying to his chaos emerald* "depends, will the game have anything to do with space colony arc and/or doom?" Sonic: "well no, but a new game is the perfect opportunity to break out of those 2 story arcs and really make a new name for yourself! Not to mention you get to go on a new adventure that will keep fans refreshed!" Shadow: 🤢
I still stand by my stance that i personally don't think idw shadow is that bad. Imo he's always badass whenever he shows up. Noy everything needs to be about " character this or character that" just give me cool stuff and I'm good. Hell shadow wasn't even all that " edgy" here
You’re right he wasn’t “edgy” but I personally don’t see him going out sad due to his own arrogance as something cool. Just makes him come off as stupid
The thing is, Archie Shadow is a different character to Mainline Shadow. The people who point to Archie as proof that Ian knows how to write Shadow are basically admitting they don't understand Mainline Shadow at all. Some Archie fans understand this & don't think it's right to erase Mainline Shadow because they played his poorly translated game, or a non-canon comedy spin-off, or a comic that claims to be canon but can't do anything interesting because it's constantly fighting in a losing battle against the games for control. When I play Forces & then read IDW, I do not see the same character. One is cold, antagonistic, calculated & able to cooperate in missions above his pay grade and the other is a bumbling idiot. There's a reason people had no faith in Ian's ability to write Mainline Shadow. Dark beginnings is the first time he's shown promise & even then a lot of his habits hold him back (I expect the same from X Gens). I think it's good that Ian gets to collaborate with Sonic Team. Hopefully they rub off on him to let old habits die.
