Hi Wade. Glad Steve (AKA “ The Creator “ ) liked your video, I gave him the link because you did such a great job on this video. I have many stoves and my fleet of FireBox 🔥are my favourite.. ya fleet one 5 inch, two SS Nano’s and one Ti Nano With X case.
The FireBox Nano & the bigger one are certainly the best sticks stove on the market by their impressive versatility and most important to me Steve the creator and innovative designer is such an awsome guy double by skillfull and talented outdoorsman. This Guy put a lot of his experiences and testing into his stoves and accessories along with the fact that he listen to his customers to always come up with new ideas to improve. That said your breakfast looks so yummy that I ma now hungry 😉😋😋😋
That food looked delicious. Great review on the stove kit as well. The ability to use wood or alcohol is great and the small footprint saves space in your pack. Thanks for sharing. ATB.
Too many comments to see if this has been said before but another option is to turn the four pieces around so the triangle face of each piece rests in the corner of the stove. and the hole in the middle is formed by the rounded edges forming a star in the center to put the tinder into. Great review. I have the same setup but with an original Nano and burn with the Trangia set in the bottom is just as good if not better as long as you do not need to use the simmer ring.
Excellent suggestion Ray. Yes I agree that method works better. The Nano with the Trangia is my go to quick coffee setup! Take care and thanks for watching!
When you broke out the pan and started cooking I got a little fired up. Outstanding job on the review/demonstration of the xbox-firebox combo! You created a great ambiance and backed it with a calm smooth presentation. You are so rocking it! Stan
My summer...bad subject lol...actually i have driven into several house projects that have been lurking that finally couldn't wait any longer. So i'm taking 4 months or so off from backpacking and bushcrafting trips so that i can get these projects done. I'm sacrificing the summer so that i can hit the woods hard this fall! Our summers are too hot anyway to enjoy the outdoors unless it involves immersion into water. I've added a great axe collection and actually have a question for you on one of them, in due time though. I'm so fortunate to have just become debt free as well. Huge accomplishment. So i've been looking around for some land to buy so that i can my own outdoors. We have 5.5 acres where we live but no woods. I'd like to buy about 30 to 50 acres. Too much info...but in a way, i'm foreshadowing!
That's awesome my friend, I hope you find your acreage it would be great to be able to do whatever you want on your own property! Keep me posted, talk to you later! Wade
Fantastic video and great looking breakfast! I have the same setup and absolutely love mine! Firebox in my opinion too, is number one for twig stoves! Amazing products! Thanks for the great review!
Awesome review Wade :) A sweet little stove indeed and the case is a neat addition!! Defiantly double up on the cheese...… that looked lovely :) Have a great day brother..... all the best, Mark.
Can't beat the Nano's , I 1st got the stainless one and a short time later got the Titanium one. The stainless is in a day bag and the titanium is in my UL Backpack. Two things i like about the titanium besides being lighter cools it down faster then the stainless. I wish they offered a X case in Titanium that would make a nice combined outfit. Like you I put the carbon fiber under the X Box as a precautionary safety measure. I also have the individual flame guard that slide over one side of the stove and can be used as a additional pot support. When used as a partial pot support it helps to keep the pot handles a lot cooler and away from the fire. When I split the wood and then use it like you did in the video. I have the point of each V shaped piece with the point of the V in each corner. The rounded parts are facing the center of the Nano.
This thing is the thru/day hike special man, and if you wanted a bare bones, light/small as possible kit that you wouldn't mind carrying at virtually all times the Ti model would probably be a first pick for me, but for most overnight camping trips, deer camp etc I really kind of prefer the 5" G2 or the Freestyle kit, more versatile, can burn without being babysat a better, and really isn't an enormous burden weight/size wise for packing in to a designated location...but I wouldn't want either of those for a PCT (or Appalachian) type hike where 15+ miles a day for weeks at a time would be normal.
Another great vid Wade. Seen these stoves a bit, i think that's the first time I've seen the Swedish Torch method used in one. Never would've thought to do that. Picked up a Gomboy 240 recently, cant wait to try it out this weekend.
I just got on to the Swedish torch, actually it works pretty well. If you do grab a stove one day I recommend the case too. Have fun with the 240 my friend! Wade
Swedish torch method is the only way to fly with these smaller stoves. Gives you a good consistent heat and less having to tend to the fire while cooking.
Woodswalker 1965 Looks like a little extra work at the start saves you more work on the back end of things though. I've only had the fuel stoves like the msr pocket rocket, etc. But honestly after this one I may really look into this stove with the case because using the swedish stove method is very easy cause I already carry the saw and knife. This would eliminate carrying a full canister. Just bought a new osprey pack, and shirt from Shawn James ☺️ so maybe in the future.
Wow awsome video love this kit u have sold me I’m gonna invest in a nano and x case soon as I can afford them thanks for sharing mate finally made up my mind as to wot I won’t and need 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks brother! I actually have owned the Solo Stove and the Toaks small stove as well. I no longer own the Solo, I use the Toaks occasionally but always carry the Nano! Take care my friend👊!
Thank you for sharing this stove..im getting ready to order one..AND..showing the Bromwell pan in use on it. I just got one and was wondering if it could be used on this stove...have not seasoned it yet but will soon
I am putting together a woods kit with a Maxpedition Octa versipack. Would use a rolly polly to hold water bottle and GSI cup. Reason for Octa versapack is so I can fit it in my travel bag to be checked on a plane. That way I can have some thing to take hiking after work when I travel for work when days get longer. This Firebox Nano would fit with plenty of room to spare in the back zipper pocket of the Octa versapack. I think I should get one for sure. I even have a Trangia stove to fit it. Nice review.
@@Woodswalker1965 Week before last I got an email from the Pathfinder Shop on a special they were having on the Firebox nano in the x case. The special also included the same Pathfinder cup with lid that you used for coffee in this video and a mini inferno tin. All for $40 plus $10 shipping which seemed like a good deal so I ordered it. I took the day off last Friday after a fresh 6 inch snowfall to try it out. I brewed a pot of coffee with the Firebox Nano and Trangia next to a frozen lake in solitude. I did see a deer. Such a nice piece of kit. Plan to try wood with it next weekend.
Great video and I just sub'd. I'm a stove-a-holic and have been looking at the nano x case. My concern is that the hot coals from a sustained torch fire or back to back torches would warp the case and perhaps make it no longer close tightly. I love the these smaller stove and they are high maintenance if used for other than torch fires. Hence, torch fires back to back to back at times. What are your thoughts on warpage of the case when the bottom shelf is in the up position. Thanks! Now to catch up on all your other vids! D.
Thanks for the sub and the kind words! I took another look at my X Case and there is no warpage at all. I have never done back to back to back torch fires but I have had fires in the Nano for over 30 min with the ash pan in the up position with no problems. Top quality stuff, I wouldn't be concerned. Take care!
