They’ve done a lot of really good promotion stuff for this movie but they still haven’t really given away too much of the movie. They put out a video today showing that when they were filming the first time Maika Monroe saw Nicholas Cage for the first time in the makeup and everything her heart rate went from 70 something bpm to 170 bpm.
I saw it last night. Im a horror buff, i would not recommend this film. It was the most satanic film ive ever seen, i felt like i had invited the evil one into my life after watching this. Wonderfully made, it did everything right and perfectly. It was just too good that as a catholic 28 year old man, it felt sooooo evil. It was excruciatingly evil. Be careful.
ngl I don’t think you’re criticizing or complaining about the movie, I’m just confused by you saying you wouldn’t recommend the film, you almost sounded as if you were implying that this being “the most satanic film” is a fault while simultaneously acknowledging that this a horror movie that genuinely felt really creepy to you, especially as a catholic. That just means the crew nailed it! This is definitely a horror movie that was made with the intention of disturbing/provoking fear in the audience by using that satanic panic fear and dark imagery, like it really troubled me and I’m not even religious lol. If there was a reason I wouldn’t recommend the film, I’d say to avoid it if you’re someone who really hates ambiguous endings or endings that don’t fully deliver
@logan-pe4rm that's the thing, man- I WANT to recommend the film because it's amazing and it did its job well! I WANT to. But it hits a little too close to home, for someone who's atheist or agnostic, or another religion, I still wouldn't reccomend due to my belief that, even though it may not scare you in the same way it did to me, I believe it's a perfect representation of evil. Pure evil. The only reason I'm not pushing people to the theatres to see it is because I do believe it may impart evil in your life. That's how good it was, Ozgood Perkins directed this masterclass with such finesse that, in my personal opinion, it can invite demons into the lives of the audience. It's not because I don't care about the film, and I do think it should be preserved in film history, I just wouldn't want anyone I care about to view it without a lot of spiritual fortitude.

Osgood Perkins and Mike Flanagan are very good at instilling terror in the viewer!

Osgood Perkins joins the masters, like Ari Aster, Mike Flannigan and Robert Eggers. The modern horror creators who know there stuff.

The promotion for this movie was top tier. But they kinda shot themselves in the foot with that since for some people their expectations were to high.
