No one sings this like her ... it's almost perfection ! I've listened so many versions, but nothing compared to this ! It's so precise, light and it looks so easy in her voice !
Oh, wow.... that is the craziest version of "Twinkle, twinkle" I ever heard! :) And the French words are adorable -- what a cute little love song. With the brilliant flautist and pianist, and Miss Parcells, -- it doesn't get too much better! Thanks for posting!
this was one of the first recordings of Beverly Sills I ever listened to, years before I worked with her. While this is good, I would opt for the professional recording by Sills. It must have been difficult to have lived during the same time frame as Sills. Lovely instrument.
Let me start out by saying I absolutely love Beverly Sills, especially in her prime! In my humble opinion, no one could touch her then! But I personally knew Elizabeth Parcells and actually was her accompanist once. This is a very bad recording, probably recorded on a tape recorder by someone in the audience. You need to check out some of her other recordings. There are many of her recordings which are in much better condition. I think all these recordings on her TH-cam channel are simply whatever her family had and wanted to share with everyone, to help keep Elizabeth's sublime talent alive, after her untimely death one day after her 54th birthday. And although the time frame of their lives did cross each other's, they lived and performed in quite different time frames. Beverly was born in 1929, where Elizabeth wasn't born until 1951. Elizabeth started her professional performing career right about the time Beverly was ending hers. Beverly retired in 1980, and Elizabeth, after winning the Met Auditions, moved to Europe in 1979 to begin her career. Cheers!
It is the same melody, but the original melody comes from a French children's song called "Ah vous dirais-je maman". Adolphe Adam just used the same melody/lyrics and expanded upon it to make it more operatic. :)
Angel voice. Very, very beautiful. ❤❤❤

This is sublime.
I prefer this version for now.
Totally perfect version. Bell-like voice. It reminds me the Frieda Hempel version, which it is the most accomplished version of all.
Great singing, absolutely.. And what's more, her French is PERFECT !! Is this lady French-speaking ??? Brava !!
I've never heard this. Amazing.
(another version here... )

@breton2 Yes, her french is very close to perfection... May she rest in peace...

Loved this. Even though my favourite version is Amelita Galli Curci.

Theres a moment where she sings the bass instead of the instruments
