It's painful to think of just how important dimple was to mob. He was not only living proof that spirits didn't have to be evil, but this scene was possibly the first time Mob truly had someone who understands the burden he had to shoulder for so long. Who truly understands just how powerful he really is, and therefor how strong he has to be to not only manage that power, but to stay humble and human while doing so. Only for Mob to immediately lose that person, and be cursed with never knowing what happened, only that they're gone and it hurts. This show is top tier in every way
While the scene is very touching, Dimple also created this situation in the first place. If he didn't use the tree for his religion, it wouldn't become so powerful. If he didn't cause Mob to go 100% trust, Mob could destroy the tree on his own.

Not gonna lie, I was tearing up during this entire scene. I was trying to hold them in, but I was sad. It made me realize how much I loved Dimple as a character, and I really enjoyed his time in the show. Goodbye, Dimple.
We all liked dimple because he was honest. He wanted to become God and use mob to help him achieve it,.. and he did. He achieved what he wanted and it wasn't for the reason he first wanted. He changed once he became a God. He knew that to shigeo (mob) he was still a little puff of smoke compared to mobs power.....
It's crazy to think that when this character was introduced he was a crazy cult leader villain who was disposed of by Mob like a throwaway baddie. Now look at him. That character arc was quite a ride.
1:14 That look on Dimple's face says so much. Satisfaction over finding a real friend and realizing how much that friend means to him, pride in that friend for having come so far and being able to witness that growth firsthand, and sadness over having to say goodbye to that friend just after they'd come to a true understanding.

The visual of psycho helmet staring down dimple in the background is so haunting. Shigeo being able to feel its presence through the brainwashing gave it an almost cosmic feeling. Dimple finally got the power he wanted while everyone he controlled watched. It being under the circumstances of his death adds weight to the sacrifice making it feel tragic

What really gets me is the fact that Dimple chose to have Mob perceive him as his blob form while under the effect of the hypnosis. He wanted the last time Mob saw him to be as his friend and not some gaudy god figure.
Dimple became more than just a friend to Mob he was literally family at this point. Him choosing to sacrifice himself for him shows this. The concept of “not knowing what you have till it’s gone” really hits hard here. It’s heartbreaking to know he’s gone for good.
The fact he brainwashed mob so he wouldn’t worry for him anymore, and also shown himself how shigeo always saw dimple makes it even more heartbreaking, he was a bad spirit at first then left as a good one R.I.P Dimple
This scene really did make me sad, especially once I realized Dimple used his brainwashing to make Mob see him as the way he wanted to, not as a god, but as a friend. His Ole familiar look, to make Mob feel at ease.
We can clearly see from the beginning that dimple just wanted a friend, someone that he can talk to, when he realized what he truly wanted, he wanted to protect it to the last breath, no matter what so he can be sure that Mob is safe and unharmed.
Dimple really is a great friend to Mob- Yes he makes mistakes. He will argue and fight with Mob. But he is fully honest with Mob and cares for him. And in the end he will always have Mobs back no matter what.

You'd have to be heartless to not feel something from how Dimple showed himself as the little green fart cloud to Mob during the brainwashing. He may have looked ugly on the outside with his goofy lips and blush marks, and he sure had one awful personality at times, but deep inside, he was not ugly.

But Mob was never like most people. There's a reason he states, "I could never understand this guy". But he HAS to understand Mob in order to properly manipulate him, so he tries. In the process he learns everything about what is important to Mob, who is important to Mob, and why. He comes to understand Mob like a true, attentive friend would. He uses that information to save Mob from Mogami, and he uses it to _hurt him_ in this arc. Dimple is also very intelligent, so every challenge given to his own worldview forces him to change his way of thinking, little by little. He's self-preservation first until Reigen forces him to realize that Mob's too valuable an asset, and that sometimes big risks are worth BIG rewards. He thinks that powers can accomplish anything, until he feels the raw might of Musashi by possessing him. He thinks he wants to rule the world until Mob says, "I'll listen to you, I will acknowledge you, as your friend." Dimple had already lost the instant he chose Mob as his target. His ambitions were doomed from then on.
While I'm glad they redeemed Dimple, I'm torn they killed him. This was so sad; especially knowing Mob doesn't know what happened, just that his friend is never coming back and all he could do at the end of this episode was cry. This is such an incredible show

This is why ONE is going to go down in history. His works hold not just an incredible level of creativity, with Broccoli being one of the most terrifying and sincerely disturbing designs I've seen in ages, but they have a sentimentality to them that refuse to care about whether or not something is "silly" or outlandish. All that matters is that it meant something to the characters and to the viewers.
The Psycho Helmet Broccoli was made from Dimple’s lingering feelings of ambition. So he literally fought who he used to be to protect his friend. The fact that the final form the Broccoli took was a big, green, muscular form like he was when he fought Mob? Poetry! Exquisite!
We learned in the Yokai episode in season 2 that evil spirits can be created through belief and strong emotions. Dimple used the broccoli to start a cult and gain followers, but if you think about it, no one was ever worshipping Dimple, they were worshipping the broccoli. I think that since Dimple had such a strong connection to the broccoli and was constantly absorbing its energy, that an evil spirit never had the chance to manifest, but as soon as Dimple detached himself from the broccoli, it quickly gained sentience because of how many believers it had
Man... The Week where this Episode was aired, we lost someone else and not only Dimple. Kevin Conroy, the Batman's Eternal Voice for many years. A Fictional Character like Dimple who feels so human and real in this Anime, I didn't spect that it just broke me in tears so hard. And what eventually happened to Kevin. We had Two Unfortunate Lost in that week. God Bless these guys. They finally in peace. Knowing that his job in life wasn't in bane. Dimple... You were the Hero that Mob needed... 🌻 💚 ✨

Man, I hold my tears back utmostly but still cried at the end. The only thing that Dimple wanted was to be recognized and he succeeded; then realized the only thing that he wanted all along, was friend. And he gave up over things he wished for, fır mob and his wishes... Brooo why do i cry for Dimple, im laughing and crying.
I bet that what dimple did to solve the issue he created, was to fuse himself with psychohelmet at the moment psychohelmet tried to absorb dimple. Then this new spirit as result of dimple's will decides to abandon the city. I imagine it to be the same as the sacrifice done in Tron legacy, in which the main villain gets fused back with his creator, destroying everything.
I actually didn't like Dimple for the first two seasons. Then I watched this episode. When Dimple tells mob to leave I immediately started tearing up. Goddamn this show is a masterpiece
Dimple's control over Mob was good enough that he didn't hesitate at all despite the sound of combat. Mob still looked back at him twice before leaving, though. I feel like that kind of implies Dimple made him look back so he could wave goodbye at the end...

The audio of them fighting once Mob begins to walk away brings me to tears every time. He's giving it his absolute all. Just for mob. For his friend.

This is one of the few times I've actually truly cried at an anime. Dimple's sacrifice truly made this my favourite anime.
Man... The Week where this Episode was aired, we lost someone else and not only Dimple. Kevin Conroy, the Batman's Eternal Voice for many years. A Fictional Character like Dimple who feels so human and real in this Anime, I didn't spect that it just broke me in tears so hard. And what eventually happened to Kevin. We had Two Unfortunate Lost in that week. God Bless these guys. They finally in peace. Knowing that his job in life wasn't in bane. Dimple... You were the Hero that Mob needed... 🌻 💚 ✨
We also lost the green ranger this week... what a hard hitting week.

These wounds still hurts and it's unbelivable, but there wasn't anything we could do. We don't need to worry anymore. Cause' both can finally be in peace. Free of any of any pain of this world. They were guiding their Souls to the Valhalla now. And they gone as our Héroes. Those Memories of them will still be with us. Just like Dimple. Man, I hold my tears back utmostly but still cried at the end. The only thing that Dimple wanted was to be recognized and he succeeded; then realized the only thing that he wanted all along, was friend. And he gave up over things he wished for, fır mob and his wishes...

I bet that what dimple did to solve the issue he created, was to fuse himself with psychohelmet at the moment psychohelmet tried to absorb dimple. Then this new spirit as result of dimple's will decides to abandon the city. I imagine it to be the same as the sacrifice done in Tron legacy, in which the main villain gets fused back with his creator, destroying everything.

And also sad fact : At the end of episode when Mob is back home he cries in his bed because he understood the death of his friend

I actually didn't like Dimple for the first two seasons. Then I watched this episode. When Dimple tells mob to leave I immediately started tearing up. Goddamn this show is a masterpiece

Dimple's control over Mob was good enough that he didn't hesitate at all despite the sound of combat. Mob still looked back at him twice before leaving, though. I feel like that kind of implies Dimple made him look back so he could wave goodbye at the end...
