      @@-xirx- The XT60 connector is rated for 60 amps continuous and the ESC is rated for 120 amps continuous. It's just undersized. If you're running it with a really low power motor and a light car you might be able to get away with it but I wouldn't recommend it. I go XT90 at least

    I was drooling over this the day Hobbywing put it up online and I pre-ordered it the first day the option was there. It absolutely rips(!) in my 2wd Rustler that has a 3800kv 3660 motor. I would say the Mamba X is the ultimate 1/10th ESC, but this is not far behind. And it's 1/3 the price of a Mamba!!
    (Also, the program port can be used to run a motor fan.)

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey that's cool about the programming port I didn't think about that! Yeah it's hard to argue with the value proposition of this. My main reason for buying higher end ESCs has always been to get the high voltage BEC but now that this has it as well I really can't justify spending more. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos a sub is appreciated!

      @@demarco1531 Do you mean the mamba monster x? I don't think the Mamba x is 200 amps continuous. That being said this isn't competing with either one of those at 1/3 the price.

      @as-ifif-as3081 SC8 and Max 10 SCT were both very similar. The main difference being that the Max 10 SCT had more tuning ability and a 7.4 volt BEC. Given that this has that same tuning ability and 7.4 volt BEC I feel like it's more similar to the old Max 10 SCT but really it's very close to both. Thanks for watching!

      @@204_mod_shopmy Hobbywing Max 8 G2S was ready to go out of the box, but I can't say for 100% that this ESC doesn't need to be programmed. Maybe watch one of the official Hobbywing unboxing videos and you'll probably find out that way.
      Or join a forum for the brand of RC you're going to run and ask the question on that forum, after searching for the question, because it's likely that someone already asked that same question, and people might get a little upset if you ask a duplicate question. On the Arrma forums I get an answer usually within 20 minutes of posting a question. Depends on the time of day. Good luck.

I have two of them on sensorless motors and I like them because they respond very well but they also easily allow creeping without blasting the cricket noise when driving the locked rotor. • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's just the port for the ESC fan but generally speaking you would plug the motor fan into a free spot on the receiver. Only really Horizon has been putting a port on their vehicles for that purpose. Most other vehicles don't have a specific motor fan port.

    Thanks for the review. Please share info on whether you were running 2s 3s or 4s battery and what spec motor size and kv. That way we will know how hard you were pushing that ESC. Bashing with 3s vs 4s puts different kind of load on the ESC.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely. This ESC is definitely not ideal for that vehicle. I was just trying to push it to its limits and if I put it in something that it's completely appropriate for then I probably wouldn't find those limits.

      @alexp6409 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Single XT60 plug has handled everything my 6s bricks can throw at it with MMM V2 ESC and long can 1800 KV Steve Neu motor geared to the moon. A shame to lose the G1 sensor ability. That for $46 was an open mod 1/10 scale racing esc winner.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Might be able to get away with and XT60 and that kind of power but it's far from ideal. The XT60 is really only rated for 60 amps and even this system far exceeds that. At the very least you're losing some performance to heat in the connection.

    • @noname-yb5jt
      @noname-yb5jt 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Xt60 is actually rated for 60a continuous and 120a max but can handle more if used with 12awg wire. I've seen over 130a on xt60. Obviously ec5 would probably be the better option, but for 99% of applications, xt60 will be fine on this esc. @DoRC

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @noname-yb5jt The rating is technically correct but the 10 BL120 is rated for 120 amps continuous and something like 900 amps peak. Also the wire size doesn't alter how much current the connector it's attached to can pass.
      Can you get away with it? Maybe. Is it ideal? Definitely not.

    • @noname-yb5jt
      @noname-yb5jt 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DoRC 12awg wire technically will pass more amps than the connectors are capable. It would take a fairly large motor with a heavy car. Possibly mud or snow. This Mojave isn't damaging an xt60.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah like I said you could probably get away with next you 16 but it certainly not ideal. It is going to be a high resistance point and could cause voltage sag under heavy load. The connector itself probably won't fail but large ripple under heavy voltage sag could kill an ESC.
      Ultimately a 120 amp continuous rated ESC should not be using a 60 amp continuous rated connector.

  • @empotem7436
    @empotem7436 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thermal cutoff is not esc's fault, it is because of dirt and debris, just use other power source other than the auto fan heat detection. When esc is cold and not running, dirt and debris are gathered in the fan and when heat builds up and the fan needs to run it will get stuck so thermal shut down occur. Just what i experienced.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. I've run quite a few different ESCs with fans that turn off and on automatically and I've never really noticed an increase in debris getting stuck in them. It seems like debris going to get in there whether the fans on or off but I suppose it is possible.

Some spectrum do and Traxxas ones do as well. Whether or not your motor wires are going to reach will just depend on what combination you have and where they are in relation to each other on the chassis. Some motors have pretty long wires and it won't be a problem and others might be too short. I would say maybe one in five setups that I do require me to do some sort of extension. Are you sure the ESC is plugged into the receiver the right way around? Have you tried plugging your old ESC back into the receiver to see if it works? Do you have another receiver you can test with this ESC?

      @DoRC i don't have other esc the stock one died , on the rlaarlo OT happend , but my question is on the motor doesn't say A B C for wires , do you have an ideea if is that a problem? ( i tryed other reciever and it's doing the same think ) the reciever doesn't give back signal ...

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ArnoldKrT with a sensorless motor it doesn't matter how you hook up the three wires from the motor to the ESC. The worst that will happen is the motor will run backward and you'll have to switch any two of them to get it to run forward.
      Have you tried it with just the ESC and the receiver connected nothing else connected to the receiver? If you have and you're having a problem with two different receivers It sounds like it might be a bad ESC. It's rare to get a DOA one but it does happen.

    So my machete has the 150a 6s version of this And I can contest to its waterproofing My machete accidentally went into a creek yesterday it was submerged for at least 5 minutes completely I pulled it out it was still running shut it off disconnected it dried it up Best I could let it sit overnight Friday today everything works perfectly

      I don't like doing links for two reasons. The first one is that they are pretty much constantly going stale and keeping up with updating them is a logistical nightmare and the other one is I don't want you to think I'm trying to sell you anything because I'm not

    Question when AliExpress sell hobbywing ESCs are they real

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my experience if it appears to be a hobbywing ESC in every way and is just missing the brand label it is genuine but I can't guarantee that for every situation.

    Great video man. But I don't think that ESC is it continuation of the SCT 120. I think they are two totally different models. Your ESC is much more suited for something like a light 8th scale buggy. Your ESC is from the Quicrun line. The SCT 120 is not.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hear what you're saying but the Max 10 SCT has already been superseded by the SCTG2 and I think this G2 ESC has been designed to kind of fill the gap left by that happening. If you look at the specs this is nearly identical to the original Max 10 SCT with actually a few better features.
      I think as the ez run line moves more upmarket The quicrun line is starting to as well. I believe this is the first one in that series that has HV BEC capability.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The plugs capability has nothing to do with the voltage and everything to do with the current. This ESC is rated for far more current than the connector is rated for. It doesn't matter what voltage you using if you're pushing 120 amps through a 60 amp connector your overloading it.

    These Hobbywing systems are slow unless you use boost and turbo, then they will melt your battery terminals. Hobbywing sucks, I feel sorry for anybody who buys this crap.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I guess it might depend on what you're doing with it but I've run these systems in many different vehicles and especially for the price they are awesome! If you are melting battery terminals then there's something wrong either with you or connectors or with your soldering as the battery connections should always be able to handle the full output power of your battery.
