Baby Lasagna was my favourite too and delighted that Croatia came second, albeit not the win. I think the strategic public voting for Israel also played a part in the outcome.
I think, ultimately, the reason why Baby Lasagna lost this year (and why Käärijä lost last year) is a side effect of televote-only semifinals - because semifinals are televote-only, delegations and selection juries for both internal selections and national finals choose songs that they think will appeal to televote in order to qualify - which, to their credit, does work - but the end result of this is that there are too many televote-baity songs that all steal votes, and therefore points, from each other, and there are so few songs that appeal to juries and the criteria they use to so score entries (like France and Switzerland) that juries are left with essentially no choice but to give those entries massive landslides. I will admit, as a Nemo fan, that they shouldn’t have landslided the juries as hard as they did (I thought Bambie, Silvester, Marina, and Teya weren’t done justice by juries), but given the composition of this show and the riskiness of Nemo’s performance, I think they deserved it.
I haven't seen it like that. Because the semifinals are televote only, the grand final songs are only entries that appeal to the televote which makes it so that there are little vocal heavy performances so it ends in a landslide. Which is exactly what happened with Sweden and Switzerland. Makes sense!
Other analyses stress that as well the jury than the public votes wouldn't have been withdrawn as much from Switzerland, than distributed differently between the other competitors. Why don't you agree? But as you said, The last minute disqualification of Netherlands wasn't good for no other participant. The result can't be reconstructed, but that would have been that, and no guessing about if and whens. And in the end, the effects of the new wars, in and in the vicinity of Europe are multiples. I'd say that the perturbation of the ESC, is one of the smaller pity of those messes. When ESC management messes up, people are hurt in there pride, when Governments do, people get hurt in there body and dying.
The answer is simple. Croatia did not want the organization of the ESC for many justified reasons. Switzerland was predetermined as the host country. Accordingly, Nemo was selected from among several offered performers. The song was written for the jury. In the end, the jury agreed and sent the ESC to Switzerland. Croatia won televoting, which is great for Marko's future career.
It's simple. I went into the contest as a Baby Lasagna bitch. He did everything he could do to win. He was simply beaten. It's not a jury thing. It's not a televote thing. (It MIGHT be an Israel televote thing.) He is still my winner. He is what I listen to. (Sidebar: Ireland is what I'm watching.) Congratulations to Nemo. They are a deserving winner. Any suggestion otherwise is plainly and simply sour grapes.
Finally a honest and sincere opinion. The Swiss came third some years ago, but none of their fans acted so full of hate and anger like some croations here. This is a pity, because I love Crotia: the country and the people. I never thought that such spiteful reactions could be possible. And please relax: it is a music contest, not a war
It is not Israel televoting thing. If you exclude Israel completely from the results, final ranking would be basically the same (televote and jury meaning).
I blame Jurys. Did The Code deserve to qualify, yes, did it deserve a 12 points and/or a spot on the left side of the leaderboard, maybe, did it deserve 22 12 points, no Not even Fairytale and Euphoria got that much 12 points(with more countries even)
There are many theories as to why BL didn't win. The real truth is that he was "too normal". The story that he can't sing is nonsense, because he got a lot of points from the jury. If it comes to singing, Silimane is far...far ahead of Nemo. This Esc was supposed to be a fight between Marko and Joost, because the audience chose it that way..but they made sure to kick him out😪. And in the end, the audience (the people who pay for it all) turn out to be irrelevant..sadly. it's all a game of the organizers. In the end, I am glad that this "parade" will not be in Zagreb. Marko won anyway❤️
Israel & Eden Golan supporter: I think Croatia was robbed of a win. Netherlands would have probably been top 5 and it's the only song I still listen to. The thing that confuses me the most about this year's competition is what the heck happened to Georgia. Me and my friends thought she was going top 5 lol. I think Croatia didn't win because the jury had an agenda and grouping up to have Switzerland win. They were great but it was obviously something strange going on. I heard rumors of some chat group of country jury members where they had joked around like "So how about Zürich 2025?" and things like that.
Yeah, juries pushed Nemo to win. But disqualifying Netherlands actually helped Croatia. Both songs are similar, have similar support groups, so when Joost was disqualified, it boosted Croatia.
@@romanlelek2808 Ah, I didn't think of if like that. Why do the juries do this though; pushing for certain wins? Seems like Sweden last year and this year Switzerland.
@@wastedmalice Normally, they don't. I did research on jury's voting in last 8 years (with new system and open data results) and distribution of points by juries was pretty normal. Last year there was a huge spike in favor of Sweden, it was rumored that juries favorited Sweden because of 50th anniversary of ABBA win. Personally I think it was combination of a good singer and sure bet from juries. This year is kinda mystery to me. It is quality song and Nemo is pretty good singer, but the difference between first and second jury result shouldn't be that obvious. Truth is, nobody knows why this situation happened and I repeat, it's the matter only last two years. Could be coincidence and for the sake of Eurovision I hope it is.
In recent years, as ESC gets more international and the production value of the stage shows increase substantially, it does seem a bit rigged that only counties with the funds to put on a good show win. Switzerland is just a continuation of a trend. The only exception might be Ukraine.
"Why didn't Croatie win 2024?" well... it got less votes than swiss, so that's probably why, just guessing here... but i'd assume that the youtube channel "Eurovision 365" understands how the Eurovision works, so this is kinda disappointing
If Nemo were a representative of a poorer country that could not afford such a performance, I doubt that such a Nemo would be able to see the final regardless of his voice. One fact is generally not mentioned about Nemo, and that is that this performance of his was allegedly one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive performance in the history of the ESC. If the song was enough to win, then why did it go to such an expense? Probably because Swiss TV could afford it and they went all or nothing to win. Because for several years in a row, Switzerland has been aiming for victory. I could never listen to Nemo's song to the end. It just doesn't suit me and it seems I'm not the only one, because it was only fifth in audience votes.
Because Marko is a straight, white male. Who has fiance, he is relatable. He is a Christian. And he is normal. But you know judges dosen t like that no not one bit. Sooo because they are "profesional" so they decided that they will going to give a trophy to someone who is "special" and who has identitiy crisis. But everybody in their right mind knows that Marko is the true winner of ESC 2024. And that s the truth.
No they gave Nemo that many points becaus ethe song was difficult to sing and the performance was original. I also have the impression, that they collectively voted for one song to prevent Israel from winning, because they knew they‘d get a lot of televotes. This is not some sort of woke conspiracy. Why would some eastern countries and Azerbaijan participate in that? It makes no sense. Also last year Loreen got a ton of jury points, and she is in a straight relationship and her performance had nothing to do with LGBT.
@@lzzyfromlux you also forgot that last year was 50 year anniversary of popular Sweden group Abba and Lorren is also from Sweden. Coincidence? I think not. She only won because of Abba not because she was the best.

Should we be thankfull that LGBTQ persons are privileged at the ESC? And we cant even say or write that, but we have to be happy and keep quiet? Otherwise, you become allergic?
I'm happy that we didn't win, because I wouldn't want to see a circus like the one in Malmö in Zagreb. And I was very relieved that Nemo took that win. If Nemo was a representative of a poorer country that could not afford such a stage performance, I think that such a Nemo might not have seen the finale.
@DramaQueenMalena you really are a drama queen. Not listening to BL because of the people who support him is so stupid and childish. BL was robbed.
