I had one of these in the late 80s for 5 years , was the envy of my mates at the time , just happened to get it on the day of my 21st birthday , went everywhere in it , clocked up must have been nearly 100,000 miles but by that time it was getting very tired and rust starting to show. Traded it for a Rover 216 GTi.
@@gillerssinbad I had it as a company car and was on a work policy but from what I remember it wasn’t to bad , is was just a bit before the days of the days of the insurance hikes for youngsters and by the time I got rid of it I was of an age where my insurance went down.
I was offered 2 of these about 18 years ago for £50 each,both white,one had was a E reg with the cylinder head off,very tidy,the other was a D reg that had been sat under a tree for some time,my mate got that and done loads of welding on it then sold it on.
i had a mk2 fiesta and made it look like a xr2 so was cheaper insurance because was only 17 loved that car looking around that one brings back many memories of that first car i had
Good old times buying these for 50 quid of people's driveways and gardens ... Half of the time oil gallery blocked other half was trackrod ends some owners never had a clue ..got some right bargains 20 0dd years ago
A car is original just once and it would be wrong to repaint under the bonnet, what it really wants is a detailed under bonnet valet and perhaps the odd bit of touching up but nothing else. Fr originality alone this car will fetch good money.
The nice bits would be even nicer if they were not filmed with an early camera phone or is that the whole point get us in a nostalgic retro mood very clever selling method
A captive audience kicking themselves for not putting one or two away to pull out now and cash in haha! like crack cocaine to a crackhead these 80s and 90s hot hatches have never lost their appeal even in an era of super fast super easy to drive hot hatches the allure or the originals still shines. I had a 89 mk2 1.1ghia lowered on Pi springs, pepper pots after totalling a Nova and a MK3 fiesta ran into the back of my fiesta which led to my first MK1 golf gti, good times. Mates mk2 xr2 was a fantastic driving car, great fun over a back road, I'd actually love to own one now but I'm knee deep in a vr6 golf addiction 😎👌
