And that's why it's called hunting. Sometimes things don't work out, this was a great video among so many other vids that only show a harvested animal. I've been there too. This was as real as it gets. You were right there, perfect setup. Thanks for posting. Good luck with your next hunt.
Hey buddy, while I was watching I was thinking...camo up the bow a bit, definitely more "earthy" colors to your arrows, and quickly cut some leafy branches and stick them in the ground around you for a little extra break-up. I that situation....I would have set up tighter to the cover. Good stuff man, enjoyed it!
Yep, I think this was about the time last year when I started messaging you for tips lol. The hunting arrows I've built for this year are much more subdued and I've gotten some bow camo wrap to experiment with.
@DIYSportsman please know I'm seeking to understand, not knock down. I've harvested 152 birds in my life all with shotguns. Retirement and engineering...drives one to take up challenges with primitive weapons. I really enjoy your independence reviews. Flet ching for example
Wonder if some camo netting in front of you would be beneficial? Ive not bow hunted turkey but im thinking it would break up your outline and possibly help to get drawn back easier. Good luck and keep putting out the content.
Thanks, I actually did experiment with it a little. Both the stake style and a nukem pyramid shaped mini blind. The problem was, I could never guarantee a perfect setup and control where the bird would walk in. So while the blind material would give good coverage at some angles, at other angles my movement would still be exposed, and it was one more thing to carry. I think learning to shoot from a very low position, like where the bow is closer to horizontal and just a little off the ground would help as well.
Obviously that's the way the cookies crumble, are decisions sometimes we get tweeked, but it's a high only us traditional toxopholite warriors understand as a successful hunt and a never forgotten experience and thats what keeps us coming for more and when it all works out Hallelujah to the lord, singing and dancing time for the Ultimate victory celebration for the lord's kindness 🙌
What brand are those bright arrow wraps? I use subdued arrows for turkeys because of their ability to see color, but I would love those wraps for squirrel hunting. Im still working on getting one with a bow, too…
Please go vote this year! I heard a very concerning statistic that a large amount of hunters and fisherman don't vote. If you don't vote this year and vote Republican, you won't have a gun much longer to hunt! Oregon already wants to make it illegal to hunt, fish, or have farms.
Yep, sometimes it seems like you can get away with color if you don't move. But if I had arrows set up specifically for turkey hunting, I'd definitely ditch those bright crestings, and probably remove the antler overlay limb bolts on the bow at a minimum.

Loved every second of your video! Great camera skill!
I would think fletching color might be an issue hunting birds....
I agree. It didn't seem to matter much if my bow was still on various hunts but the instant you move its like waving a flag

Enjoyed this. Add to your challenges: poking around to setup cameras. Great job to get one that close. Looking forward to the next video.
This is epic! So close man, great video
Awesome video! You are getting so close to getting one with the trad bow
Dude you can't move, tuck in and just wait him out, don't call because he will be looking for you, good luck next time.

He sure did.
@@DIYSportsman You'll get him next time!
Almost time for the compound!
Fun to watch, been busted as well, but it sure is a fun time!!
Well done! I am trad-only.....means something to get a bird in stickbow range...shot or no shot

That was a nice hunt.

They are Black Eagle Instinct.
They are crested directly onto the shaft, so not a wrap.
AMAZING !
So close
What brand leafy suit u using?
Novritsch.

Turkeys see in color 🤔

They actually can see in UV scale. Our eyes can't do that.
Their vision is incredible. Makes it hard to get drawn with a stickbow.
