Hi guys, in British Columbia we call that log that you are cutting, cotton wood. Our Aspen had smooth white bark. Cotton wood has a sticky pod that sometimes sheds and will stick on your car, out hair ( or beard ). The ones that stay on the tree will germinate into a fluffy creation that looks like cotton, and the leaves are much larger than Aspen. Love your videos.
You have quite a following, guys, Innsbruck Austria, Cluj Rumania, Limpopo, NZ (me), Denmark, Lincolnshire ... even New Hampshire! Wow, there are global folks like me, enjoying your channel. So nice. Hi, global folks!
You sure do have some good supporters; sending you gifts and songs. It is always good to see you. I hope the kitties find a good home. That log pretty much maxed out your blade. It is to bad that it had some rot. I hope all is well with you. 🤠🤠🤠🤠
It's early Tuesday morning, a great way to start the day. A video from my favourite channel. The new teeth make a significant difference. I machined 36 metres of Oregon yesterday for my bedhead project, which was very therapeutic for me. Keep on keeping on!!
Great video Mark and Eddie. Hope you're both keeping well. Those new teeth in the saw blade cut nicely through the log and leave a smoother finish. Take care.
In my neck of the woods, Alberta, we use aspen (poplar) for a cut of lumber called oilfield plank. 3x12. 16' long, used in the oilpatch here forever. Poplar are our most abundant hardwood we have around here.
I was in the back yard with my dog not too long ago about 25 feet from the house. All of a sudden a skunk came walking beside the house from the front yard. It was a I could do to keep my dog from exploring and wanting to play. Disaster avoided. Glad those were just kittens. Bill

Hey Mark, Eddie, ZZ what's up, just to let y'all know that I have been a long time sub to your channel for a long time I absolutely enjoy your content, the sawing and your methods of such, the display of flags, tags, and signage. Also the nicknames of the sawmill parts, I wouldn't change one thing about your channel, #1 I too am a sawyer of sorts, it's an experience, I also watch Eddie's channel, in fact I think I'm around #20 of his first subs I cut my teeth on a woodmizer LT40 my company is small its called SSS Sawerx, as in Sweat,Sawdust, &Steel, lol, my name is Mike Shadrick, And would appreciate a shout out. If you don't mind, thanks lots from Rockwood, Tennessee.
HI MARK U sound alot better than what U did be 4 I sure hope what I toll U about did help 2 get rid of that cold mark I already see the difference the new saw bits have made there is a smoother face on the logs now 😊 zand the the sawblade is sawing alot better now 2 it looks like it is sawing butter now mark its amazing what a new set of new saw bits will do or a new chainsaw chain also a new sparkplug the gas in anymore is no good either U have 2 use a file 2 clean a sparkplug 2 get the carbon off and a wire brush and a safety pin 2 clean the inside of the sparkplug out most of the time after U clean them 4 times they are ready 4 the trash can the sparkplug current is suppose 2 be bright blue 😊 OMG 5 8 2O23
I think your right Mark. That does look a lot like poplar. Not aspen. Poplar is a very water logged wood. And while sawing it, you could see a little water coming out of the log.
Mark I am so glad to have found your channel, it's how I unwind every night, before bed. I have a question, If I order a boom sign will it be signed by your crew?
I watched one on TH-cam the other day at sawmill that had the edger ahead of the blade on the on the sawyers house and every time he saw block a slab the edger would he pushed that you're up there and it cut the hedges off from it and they didn't even have to mess with it like a pretty good deal

A couple of reasons - 1) to true up the face (sometimes the cant bends and /or twists from internal stresses), sometimes bark gets underneath and tips the cant. 2) Sometimes to get the rest of the cant to a multiple of 2", 4", etc. thick.

Mark I am so glad to have found your channel, it's how I unwind every night, before bed. I have a question, If I order a boom sign will it be signed by your crew?
thanks Chris , we can sign more.
Almost certainly Cottonwood or Carolina Poplar.
Cottonwood sound right. I was gonna say, that's not aspen like I know it.
Cute kittens 😸 😊
thanks Evan.
These are the nicest size
perfect size.
What do you do with your scraps. Pellets maybe?
Cottonwood
Bigtooth Aspen is what you've got on the deck there.
that's what we thought , it had the green look to it.
I think it is Aspen used to work with it a lot in veneer Mill The bark look like it
the kittens are doing well.
Can you explain the edger ? How do you choose the width, or is it as simple as wide of full board would get out ?
Sometimes your trying to make a certain grade so there is a wane limitation on grade lumber
When you take your “man glitter” shims, is there any deflection of the blade or do you get a true square cut?
it squares it up .
Boom, cats and dogs
good one!

Aspen doesn’t have a brown heart like that. Either a cottonwood or a balm
You never mentioned the RPM of the saw blade. I love to know the optimal operation of machines as envisioned by the engineers who designed it......

thanks Atremus , never heard of that.
i dont get to watch as often as i used to i have to ask. where is ZZ Mark?
he is working .
kinda big for aspen, maybe cottonwood
given the bark and you were getting water out as you cut
big tooth aspen.
Those trees you just cut are black poplar they give off the fuz in spring
Never saw a cottonwood in PA....White Poplar or Tulip (Yellow) Poplar
yah hoo I saw Mr Laser
yes!
Tuxedo Kitties Love them wish I could take them......please get them out of the sawdust, they can breathe it into their lungs, not good.
the mother cat put them there to keep them warm , all's good.
seems that the saw is showing more teeth marks on the boards
that's a very nice cut.
The dogs on your mill carriage must be modern and progressive. You said that they are "woke". Smiles
you got to wake the dogs up lol!
What John said.
thanks Jerry.
Hi guys what is Aspen Like
Junk basically!
P.S. Question; after your intros when all say we better get to work, do you all walk away from the sawmill instead of toward your work stations? LOL.
Cool video today guys.
thanks Kevin.
Uh-oh.... 420
Just a FYI this is not poplar it’s cottonwood…….
Off bearing timbers that size will make a man out of you, an old man.
yes for sure.
Put a Muffler on top of that air cleaner and you will quiet that hog up
