Is the dissolution of a salt like NaCl in water a chemical reaction? How about the precipitation of an ionic compound out of solution? Would that be a chemical reaction or a physical change? Thanks.

dissolution of salt into water would be a physical reactions because you are still left with salt and water even if they are not separate.
