Very nice video. I just found a whole article in my "Flying" magazine about these Icons. interesting. The Angle of Attack gauge is central to flying and landing the aircraft. That is why it is front and center.
Just got this little gem. I can't seem to keep it from bouncing up and down on the water, and on the runway as well when taking off. Any suggestions, yours seems smooth:) Thanks, and great video.
Thanks for your comment. You have to be very gentle with the Icon. ;-) Avoid PIO (Pilot induced oscillation). Regarding water don’t use real time weather for practice; use manual weather instead to practice water landings and get used to it, and set wave height to about 0,2 ft. If you got used to it, you could slowly increase wave height or switch over to real time weather. Regarding the runway, I don’t know. In this case it‘s like a „normal“ aircraft as any other comparable aircraft. In general: have a look in the manual to check take-off and landing speeds for ground and water.
… one more thing: be sure that you have activated the "experimental flight model" in general X-Plane settings, as recommended by Vskylabs manual for the Icon A5.
smjj08 2 things, the water rudder is only usable below 10 knots. Also, the A5 turns on the ground with differential braking, not the rudders, so make sure you have controls assigned to toe brakes. :)
As said in the video description this Koh Poda Island in Thailand. It’s part of the Krabi4XPlane project, an amazing free scenery you can find at the .org forum.

Fantastic video! What addon do you use for the water? It doesn´t look like XP default water.
Thank you! Oh yes, it is indeed X-Planes default water. But you have to set reflections slider in graphic settings to maximum.
What is your scenery for this area??

They need to vastly improve the water landing effects cause right landing on water is pointless. Even in FSX it was better over a decade ago.
