A tip related to slowing down - I did competitive rubik's cube speed solving for 10 years and one practice technique i carried over to cardistry (picked it up a little over a month ago) is metronome solves. Most flourishes have a sort of cadence to them, when I'm learning a new flourish i will start around 50bpm and just work on getting my movements smooth along to the beat. Once i can consistently perform smooth actions at that speed ill turn it up like 10bpm.
Amazing advice. As soon as I got a move once, the very next time I try to go fast and it looks horrible. Just sit and do it slow and smooth for an hour a day. In no time you will get it much smoother. Thank you for your amazing videos bud
I always like to begin learning new moves by using half the deck. Just cut the cards and start practicing and build up the cards the more confident you feel at the move. It’s a bit like weight training, you start off with a weight that feels comfortable then gradually build up. I do gbjz when learning one handed moves especially because a full deck of bicycles can feel suprisingly heavy when the muscles on your hands aren’t developed yet. You can also use a deck with a thin stock such as a theory11 or art of play which I find really good for practicing.
Also these exercises have additional benefits for applying them to your girl friend to keep her happy, especially the finger ones. On a serious note though I wish I did find your tutorials earlier because I did get frustrated at some of the other tutorials and was discouraged and gave it up for some time. Keep up your amazing work.
Near the end of the vid you said something along the lines of how insufficient many other vids are... I had to stop right there and type this out. Rise Magic is by far superior to any other cardistry source I have investigated with respect to improving one's cardistry. I have explored many sources and continually find myself asking, "ok watched it all again. And again. But... how is he/she really doing it? Why do they seem to leave out the most important details?" Rise Magic will also show multiple angles in their in-depth vids. They will leave you breathless at how well they teach. Truly the best. The only question that remains for me is, "when is that bell gonna go off to alert me as to their next vid?"
I wish I had seen your video on finger exercises before I tried a card dribble last week. I tried a different method because I just got into cardistry last month and I saw a Guy on P&T Fool Us do a dribble in an interesting way. Well I sprained my pinkie really badly!! and it still hurts a week later!! I played tennis for 20 years of my life-- D1 College and then Professionally for 5 years--- and my one serious injury came with a deck of cards!!!! Love your presentations .
Thank you very much! Im learning magic for 2 month and i really love it!! You help me to get better it and to learn new skills . :) I dont know why you havent more subricber
Actually learned my first moves from you and I really appreciate the 5th point of this video, your channel is really helping us beginners and keeps us motivated, gotta leave a like and a sub to you :)
I Love whenever a new video comes out, it gives me so much help with cardistry and magic. I think you guys should maybe start a subreddit so that we can post our videos of us doing cardistry, and you guys could make a video going through our clips, and give us tips
I would not be able to do the cards by the bed thing because I would get distracted and never go to sleep. Also, I think for learning new stuff you have to find moves that are your style and are fun for you to learn, or you won't want to practice. It took me a long time to figure out that I didn't like Jaspas' style that much compared to cardists like Tobias and Nikolaj. For example, right now I'm motivated to practice PTL nonstop because that fast twirly and spinny style is my favorite.
Awesome Tipps! Thanks for that! This is what you could do, to sleep faster: find an animal for every letter in the alphabet. This will exhaust your brain... once you are through, just start again ^^. This always helps me...
Just started yesterday and I keep them at bed side table and start learning right before bed. (My reason is mostly because when it feel on the ground it was a 20 minutes chore to pick the cards up so now I’ll do it on bed )
Every time i start to practice again i just keep doing it for like 1 or 2 weeks. then i break up again.. idk its weird. I think its because i dont do really progression and all basic moves are kinda lame. Maybe this video can help me :) thanks its always nice to watch one of your videos
I think I will get into cardistry. Right now I can't do anything and everything feels uncomfortable. The only thing I learned in the last 1,5 days and I can do now is the riffle shuffle with the bridge afterwards but I don't know if that is even considered a cardistry move.
there are a lot of tips for sleeping like, -Make sure your bedroom is cleaned up. -Dont use your phone or any screen device for 30 min atleast before going to bed -dim your lights in the evening -keep track of a checklist of THAT day. If you check it all off before going to bed your head goes into a more "finished" state for that day so you can sleep easier. -make sure you go to bed around the same time every day. -Set your phone screen to "night shift" screen a few hours before you go to bed.
Rise Magic contact me if you want to know more. I actually participaties in a sleep research plan. (You can DM me on instagram for instance: rowen_with_an_e)
Hey rise guys, thanks for an awesome video as always! Ive been wanting to ask on every songle one though, what is the song in the outro to all of your videos?
Hi guys have either of you hurt your hands practicing sleight of hand to much and if so what did you do to make up for not being able to do sleight of hand.
Same principal of speed went into learning Kung Fu. Learn slow, the learn with power, then speed and finally make the form your own with varying of speeds and power. Technique is the most important thing to master.
You should make a tutorial for Phaced. Asking tobias for permission ofcourse. He has a tutorial, i am aware. However, He's awesome and all but, it isnt really a "tutorial". An in-depth tutorial would be nice. Especially by you. Amazing video nonetheless
Wow this is crazy. I know people gonna be talking shit like u just capping. But I had almost the same thing happen. 1 year ago. I was to the point I had a deck of cards literally in my hands all the time just practicing 1 handed cuts while my other hand does what I am trying to do in real life. Than 1 time I just bought only 1 deck of the same deck Rise Magic dropped in the sink the Spilt Spade (Gold Edition) (DAVID BLAINE DECKS ARE MY FAVORITE!) cuz I didnt have enough for a brick but I live in Vegas thank god and PlayingCardDecks.com the shop WHERE I GET ALL MY CARDS FROM is a 4 min drive from my house, and I dont have to order them from online and wait for them. GOLD split spades are on my top 10 favorite cards to perform with. Well my dumbass needs to pee but don't want to put the cards down. So I am peeing while doing on my left hand, (Scissor Cuts, Revolution Cuts, Chartier Cuts) ect.... and lost half the deck and dropped them in the toilet while I was pissing! In my own pee soggy as hell. I felt like crying.... I understand since than I bought a brick of them but i learned my lesson never to pee while practicing lol www.playingcarddecks.com check them out. WILL ROYA IS A GOAT IN MAGIC AND CARDS AND HE OWNS THE SHOP......
It's a bit frustrating that these videos are so long and they could be 40% shorter or have more info. Great tips and love the vids, but there's just a lot of filler. Like the 30 second like this video beg.

What do u mean by 50bpm
this is really cool to hear! I've never thought of it like this
Beats per minute.... Like what a metronome would measure @@lorel747

Concept. Quality. Speed. In that order.

Hey i just want u to know that ive started the most basic stage of cardistry and that is “ owning a deck of card”😆
It hurt so bad to see those cards go like that.

Not trying to make you feel worse, but I think you should consider making a video on your top decks of cards
that's a great idea for the future
