I will never trust you as a director ever again, so don't speak to me." Holland claimed that Cusack felt he had been made to look foolish and that his comments "made me not care about movies anymore". In a 2013 Reddit "Ask Me Anything" chat, however, Cusack was asked if he hated filming Better Off Dead, and responded, "No, I just thought it could have been better, but I think that about almost all my films. I have nothing against the film.... Glad people love it still."

@The Anthropologist _Forensic the plot thickens. Cusack was in another similar flick directed by Holland- "One Crazy Summer", that was produced the next year. His character, Hoops McCann, was fairly similar to that of Lane Meyer...hmmm...he hated it so badly, yet he worked with Savage Steve again the very next year in a like role...hmmm...
Perhaps he was worried about being typecast. However, his body of work since speaks for itself.

One of the GREATEST 1980’s movies. You can’t go wrong with. I mean it has John Cusack and Curtis Armstrong aka “Booger” Dudley Dawson in it.

Whammy bar clearly in the wrong place 😂 I’ve been a fan of this movie since I was a kid in the 80s. The film One Crazy Summer is great too. It has 3-4 of the actors from Better Off Dead in it.
It should have been the sequel.

How many people know that this Eddie Van Halen guitar was called Frankenstein well before this movie ever came out? It was because of how this guitar got constructed from various different parts of other guitars.

Yep, Better Off Dead - classic. Howard the Duck - stupidity and creepy, but that's just my opinion.

Anyone else notice that burgers guitar must have been molded from a picture of Eddie's actual shark guitar? They molded the tremolo arm in the same position and shape of the wiring route channel Eddie's actual shark guitar! Just a fun fact! Rest in peace Eddie!
The real Shark doesn’t have a vibrato. The animators thought the route was a whammy bar from the picture on the album cover but NO guitar has a whammy in that position. It’s just not possible.
