Did anyone else feel like the checkpoint/autosave system in this game was god awful? Great game, but I hate spending 20 minutes on one mission just to get shot in the chest with a rocket near the end and start all the way at the beginning..
my experience with that was during the benezia mission. i was fighting her and then she kills me....last place i saved was right outside the garage....safe to say i may have have had blinding rage.
+Gamble Animations Yea they aren't that interesting, but still I felt that I wasn't getting the full experience if I would not do them. Even when they are the most boring fetch quests and looking at the loading screens while jumping from a system to another.
the side missions made the galaxy feel more alive to me like all these different stories of people were all there doing their part and some of them side quests have some impact on the other two games so its worth it
Besides THE FIRST PART, written by BRIAN MITSODA, ( JADE EMPIRE, VAMPIRE. THE MASQUARADE BLOODLINES, ALPHA PROTOCOL u.a. ) is NO Shooter it had been a ROLE PLAY GAME with Shooter Elements. More like DAO where you really had to compare your hero typ, weapon skills, opponents and munition in every given situation differently.. This had been totaly changed with a new concept more concentrated on easy shooting for part 2 and 3 done by a totaly different developer team. AND YES the voice acting for the female Shepard had been great. Jenifer Hale is an old hand in the voice acting business. She appeared in games from KotOR I up to BIOSHOCK INFINITE and more, no wonder people like her style She also got an own article in magazines like THE NEW YORKER as well.
I lvoe how your ME1 crew all matured so much from the first game to the third: Garrus went from being rather hotheaded and impatient to being an ultimate badass who had been through a lot, learning to do things his own way nstead of following the formalities. Ashley went from being an annoying, racist yet fairly reasonable alliance soldier to a more understanding and very loyal soldier. Liara went from being naïve, ignorant and rather innocent to being more cold, ruthless and calculative, yet still maintained her loyalty to Shepard. Wrex went from being a depressed person who had lost hope for his kind to a strong leader, uniting several krogan clans and giving them a new future. As for Tali, I did not feel like she went through that much of a change. She certainly seemed more mature and loyal in ME2 and ME3, but her arc was not as remarkable as the others. And as for kaidan, I just felt he was the one Bioware considered the canon virmire sacrifice. I mean he is not that interesting, he does not play any big role in the first game, and I kinda predicted that he would die in the game almost right from the start. All in all, In my opnion:¨ Garrus > Wrex > Liara > Tali > Ashley > Kaidan
You also can victimize Ashley on Virmire, at least that what I remember from last time but I have to confess Ashley is a much more interesting figure than sobber Kaidan
Indeed. I could preict Kiaidan was gonna die right from the start of the game. He was not very interesting, and I always felt like it was Ashley who was the canon survivor from Virmire. Ashley, while flawed, had a lot of room for character development, and in my opinion they gave her that. Kaidan also jsut felt rather irrelevant compared to the other teammates.
The thing thats great about this game (Spoliers).... Is that you don't actually know the main story until you play it. The trailer shows you the rouge specter Saren and you need to take him down because hes planning on wiping out humans. When you play the game, it takes a huge turn when you find out hes just the one leading the geth, and is actually being controlled by the reapers, which wants to wipe out all life. This is the best game I've ever played, I just hope when Andromeda comes out, they do a better job with the choices impacting the final ending.
I just started it yesterday! the combat is kind of dated so I enjoy the story/exploring so much more. my first three points went into charm. I was level 10 before my Shepard even became spectre. I'm really loving it so far!
Hey, I just finished Mass effect 1, it was awsome but i didnt understand the ending, if you defeat saren and sovereign and stop them from activating the citadel (mass relay), why does shepard say that there are hundreds of reaper ships coming and that he will stop them and the council must aid him in it, i dont get it, you saved the galaxy by stopping the reapers from coming into the galaxy so why does he insist they need to be stopped? I would really appreciate it if someone could explain this to me, thanks
Because sheperd did not actually stop the reaper invasion, sovereign was just one reaper among the many( quite small, actually ) and that was just a precursor for what is about to come. Even without the citadel mass relay tactic which the repaers were going to use but was stopped by team sheperd, they can still invade the galaxy. The council ( knowing their political bullcrap ) would always try to deny it but sheperd knows that if they dont face the truth, they , like the protheans, would be annihilated completely.
I think they just traveled from wherever they came from outside our galaxy where they were laying dormant till the time to reap the civilizations came, that's why it a bit more time for them to arrive (i.e ME2) thanks to sheperd in ME 1
Reapers made a shortcut into the milky way galaxy and sovereign was the one who was supposed to activate that but got destroyed so the reapers have to go the long way.
This game made me care about the choices the character makes, especially with how it connects to the sequels. I even cared about the small-scale and trivial decisions to the point that I'd reload the game if I didn't like the choices I made. That's how you invest into a game
There's no denying the awesometacular-ness that about 99.99% of this series has, but ME1 gave me that fresh feeling of "ERMAGERD, LOOK AT ALL THE EPIC" that I've not felt in a game before or since.
You know what else i liked about mass effect 1, the dlc.The game doesnt have a dlc that changes the outcome, or does anything to the main story, which is what a REAL dlc should be about.A dlc should be about adding in a new story, not adding onto 1.
I believe you get a sort of quiz at the start of the game that basically says "what would you have done in situation a, situation b" etc and then the game plays out accordingly
Hans Crusim I actually like all of them, and they all have their faults. Origins was too fade-y. II was too extremist. Inquisition was too entitled. Origins was difficult. II was easy. Inquisition had an issue with Bears and Dragons. And anyway, there's rumours that the fourth gonna be in Tevinter, so I'm just sitting on the hype train for Andromeda until more DA4 info comes out.
great review dude, u manage to keep it original among all the other reviews for this game so congrats, also is it possible to see u playing some games live like a preview or impression of some sort in a near future or do u feel its not your style, iether way thx for the efford done in these man, i greatly appreciated. =)
Holy shit I remember watching this after I played ME2 first the summer I graduated HS and I already watched Jeremy's channel and was PISSED that I made the mistake of playing what would be my favorite franchise of all time backwards lol. Damn how time flies 😳
He's so easy to save. the second you get control of the normandy, go do side quests, give rex the old krogan armour (from one of the side quests, you don't have to do this, but I do it anyway) and max out intimidate or charm before you go do virmire. It's really easy. You can do all that in an hour and a half tops.
one of my favorite games of all time, i like this one just a little bit better than Mass Effect 2, just because i had so much fun with the final level wow that was epic
Nice review, I liked the combat in ME1 better than ME2. It still throws me having to press a button to go into cover when you didn't have to in the 1st one. Also, I miss the vehicle section, it really made the game feel like it was galaxy wide. I agree they could have used a better random generator for the terrain. I mean, come on, put in some rocks and trees and stuff, surely it can't be that hard. I hope they put the vehicle sections back in ME3. I really liked the ones in the main missions.
Jeremy kinda looks like the default Commander Shepard... Just without blue eyes. But Mass Effect is hands down my all-time favorite game. Good call sir. Good call indeed.
Mass Effect 1 is probably my favorite Western RPG ever :) I liked the 3 other games (.....yep, i've also enjoyed the least good, Andromeda...) but the first one holds a special place in my heart)
1 is personally my favorite out of the trilogy and easily goes into my top ten games of all time. I guess it really just depends on you, but if you're already wanting to skip the first, then the second 2 might not even be for you seeing as they're even longer. This is coming from someone who's played through persona 3 and 4 multiple times, so needless to say, I'm fine with sitting in front of a game for hundreds of hours without getting bored, but that isn't true for everyone.
if it's on pc, go to the ME2 folder and double-click masseffect2config or something like that, go to saves and click import mass effect 1 saves, search for the folder of ME1 if you have to and double click the saves folder, close masseffect2config, start mass effect 2, click new game, import save from ME 1 and done. I don't know about the consoles, i think it's automatic. I hope this helped
Pre ordered it and.. I don't really play shooters but I am willing to go there to play this story. With so many different alien species, great story, great characters and..
If anyone wants a glimpse of Mass Effect 3: search "A look at Mass Effect 3 Beta", here you can see the first level in the game and a full mission on the Salarian homeworld.
i would go through the first before you play through the other 2, while they give you a basic overview of what happened you'll be a lot less confused about certain plot points and decisions that pop up when you start a new character, and overall it's just one of the greatest games i've played in a long time, don't focus on the latter two when you live in a world where you have all 3
I would LOVE to see you review ME2, coz I played both of the ME games, and I loved your review for this game. So I for one would be very interested in seeing your opinion on the sequel.
I didn't play them in order. I started with the second game and then realized we actually owned the first and went back to it. You won't understand the story elements without the first two games. There will be times, if you haven't played the older games, when things will not makes sense. However, if you're just in it for the fun play experience... Still go back and play the older games.
About Fist's cameo, I think its freaking awesome that after playing Mass Effect 1-2 about 10 times that just yesterday as I was doing a female Sheppard campaign I discovered Fist sitting at a bar in Omega. I was like HOLY CRAP I thought I'd seen everything. Apparently not, there is just that much to the game. That and I never saw him because I always choose Wrex, why? Why the hell not!
I love this game series i can play them both anytime and not get bored i have beaten the second one like 12 times. Can't wait for the third one. BioWare I love you.
I have been wanting to give this series a try. I probably will now. Another great choice/effect based game is The Walking Dead by Telltale. I'd love to see a review for that or for the show, since season 3 starts Sunday.
Jeremy, I'm sure y there is a way to let that person live so he can appear in Mass Effect 2, just level up your charm or get the family armor for that character
I just manual saved whenever combat finished, so I wouldn't have to go back more than a couple of minutes
You can quick save anytime as long as you are not in combat. I believe the key was F6 or F5. You just have to press it every minute or so.
Those rocket shooting bitches were some cheese
I actually rage quit the game and just skipped it because of the Benezia checkpoint (or lack thereof)...
Apart from terrible side missions and shooting mechanics, this game is awesome.
+farbod EM You're right with side missions. Side missions are the same maps followed by planet exploration
+Gamble Animations Yea they aren't that interesting, but still I felt that I wasn't getting the full experience if I would not do them. Even when they are the most boring fetch quests and looking at the loading screens while jumping from a system to another.
It was filled with way too many glitches and bugs for me, mass effect 2 is a lot better in almost every way.
the side missions made the galaxy feel more alive to me like all these different stories of people were all there doing their part and some of them side quests have some impact on the other two games so its worth it

"Goodbye, Wrex."
"Shepard."
I lvoe how your ME1 crew all matured so much from the first game to the third:
Garrus went from being rather hotheaded and impatient to being an ultimate badass who had been through a lot, learning to do things his own way nstead of following the formalities.
All in all, In my opnion:¨
Garrus > Wrex > Liara > Tali > Ashley > Kaidan
You also can victimize Ashley on Virmire, at least that what I remember from last time but I have to confess Ashley is a much more interesting figure than sobber Kaidan

Ashley, while flawed, had a lot of room for character development, and in my opinion they gave her that. Kaidan also jsut felt rather irrelevant compared to the other teammates.
***** I let Kaiden die every time i play ME1. I dont think Ashley is great. But shes ten times better than Kaiden to me. Garrus and Tali > everyone.
inFINNite BTF meh, I like Liara more :P But tali is great as well
***** Liara is my femshep love interest.
Damn dude I’m glad ur channel got so big Jeremy. I remember seeing these videos pop up in the earlier era of TH-cam and I’m glad you’re still going 🎉
The thing thats great about this game (Spoliers)....
Is that you don't actually know the main story until you play it. The trailer shows you the rouge specter Saren and you need to take him down because hes planning on wiping out humans. Ahaha
So! What did you think of Andromeda?
REVIEW DRAGON AGE
am I the only one that likes the mako?
yes.
I like it too. I never got why people don't like it :(
i liked riding with mako
Free Brady yeah it controlled fine
Yes
ME2 reference in an ME1 review? LOL Love it!
Almost done with a nostalgia replay. I love this series. Good stuff. Shame it ended so poorly
The writer of the first game and first two books shouldve written the ending. He did write a first draft which was completely ignored by Bioware.
@@Ronnet dude I know. Tragic.
What’s wrong with the ending
For some reason it's taken me 10 years to play this game, but I finally did it. And I agreed with absolutely everything he says in this video. Spot on
I just started it yesterday! the combat is kind of dated so I enjoy the story/exploring so much more. my first three points went into charm. I was level 10 before my Shepard even became spectre. I'm really loving it so far!
"a specter is basically Judge Dredd"
... XD
Just finished mass effect 1 today in 2022. On to ME2…
Hey, I just finished Mass effect 1, it was awsome but i didnt understand the ending, if you defeat saren and sovereign and stop them from activating the citadel (mass relay), why does shepard say that there are hundreds of reaper ships coming and that he will stop them and the council must aid him in it, i dont get it, you saved the galaxy by stopping the reapers from coming into the galaxy so why does he insist they need to be stopped? The council ( knowing their political bullcrap ) would always try to deny it but sheperd knows that if they dont face the truth, they , like the protheans, would be annihilated completely.
Yeah, in short, there is still a huge fucking reaper armada out there waiting to invade. Shepard just stalls them in ME and in ME2 lol
Ahhhhhhhhhh, thanks a lot
I think they just traveled from wherever they came from outside our galaxy where they were laying dormant till the time to reap the civilizations came, that's why it a bit more time for them to arrive (i.e ME2) thanks to sheperd in ME 1

best gaming experience of my life, playing mass effect for the first time
says build up your dialog, I look down and shake my head in sorrow as I remember wrex...
im pretty sure wat he would say for the other mass effects
jeremy: BADASS
I imagine the music from an 80s action movie when I go on the side quests, lol. "Hey, hold it right there, it's the Space Police!" XD
There's no denying the awesometacular-ness that about 99.99% of this series has, but ME1 gave me that fresh feeling of "ERMAGERD, LOOK AT ALL THE EPIC" that I've not felt in a game before or since.
Still have that end credits song in my head sometimes
Regular watcher, remastered out and never played and here I am ...cheers young Jeremy ps I see a beard in your future
Watching in 2020! Wish he did more game reviews
Ashley could have been stopped before executing wrex
I love roaming the Citadel on my HDTV. It just looks amazingly grand and beautiful.
You've reviewed the Mass Effect Trilogy...
Why not the Dragon Age trilogy?
Hans Crusim I actually like all of them, and they all have their faults.
Origins was too fade-y.
II was too extremist.
Inquisition was too entitled.
Origins was difficult.
II was easy.
Inquisition had an issue with Bears and Dragons.
And anyway, there's rumours that the fourth gonna be in Tevinter, so I'm just sitting on the hype train for Andromeda until more DA4 info comes out.
@bahamuttamer597 Can't it be both? lol. Well I started out doing it for fun, and then I became partnered last year.
great review dude, u manage to keep it original among all the other reviews for this game so congrats, also is it possible to see u playing some games live like a preview or impression of some sort in a near future or do u feel its not your style, iether way thx for the efford done in these man, i greatly appreciated. =)
I'm happy to know that. My job on the Cerberus HQ is cleaning Toilet.
I first played Mass Effect on Jeremy’s recommendation. I owe him a beer.
Same. I just came here because of nostalgia.
Holy shit I remember watching this after I played ME2 first the summer I graduated HS and I already watched Jeremy's channel and was PISSED that I made the mistake of playing what would be my favorite franchise of all time backwards lol. Damn how time flies 😳
Now I want to play as Tarkin-Shepard.
You may fire The Crucible when ready...
WOOOOO LEGENDARY EDITION I CAN FINALLY PLAY ALL THE DLC YEEEAAAAAA 😂
Mass Effect legendary edition just dropped as the free ps plus monthly game. Ive never played the remasters so I'm stoked!
He's so easy to save. the second you get control of the normandy, go do side quests, give rex the old krogan armour (from one of the side quests, you don't have to do this, but I do it anyway) and max out intimidate or charm before you go do virmire. It's really easy. You can do all that in an hour and a half tops.
Do you need to play them in order, or I could start with the latest version without having played the older ones?
Commander Bill Norris Shepard:
He makes a profit out of kicking ass!
Great review. Definitely keep reviewing video games.
Dat blue alien ass tho
A fan, since you had a huge influx of views since your ME3 ending review don't forget Summer to do a ME3 DLC ending review!
one of my favorite games of all time, i like this one just a little bit better than Mass Effect 2, just because i had so much fun with the final level wow that was epic
Nice review, I liked the combat in ME1 better than ME2. It still throws me having to press a button to go into cover when you didn't have to in the 1st one. Also, I miss the vehicle section, it really made the game feel like it was galaxy wide.

I hope they put the vehicle sections back in ME3. I really liked the ones in the main missions.
Figuring out which side took the rocket.
Not a fan of galacical or futuristic games but will think of trying this
Adam Barnett it did really, planning to buy 2nd sequel and ya one of ma fav games
I'm Commander Shepard, and this.... IS MY FAVORITE CHANNEL ON TH-cam!
Jeremy kinda looks like the default Commander Shepard... Just without blue eyes. But Mass Effect is hands down my all-time favorite game. Good call sir. Good call indeed.
will u do a review over dead space 2 when it comes out next week.
You reviews are EPIC
The extended cut makes the ending to the trilogy seem a lot better
I was wondering when you were going to do this.
I'm Commander Shepherd. And Jeremy Jahns is my favorite person on TH-cam.
What does a Turian do when he runs out of amo?
Mass Effect 1 is probably my favorite Western RPG ever :) I liked the 3 other games (.....yep, i've also enjoyed the least good, Andromeda...) but the first one holds a special place in my heart)

What platform are you playing the mass effect series anyway? PC or 360?
do you have to play the first one befor you play the second one if i start with the second one am i goping to know whats going on
Ok I bought the trilogy on xbox 360
Jennifer Daum I just got the trilogy on my PS3
if it's on pc, go to the ME2 folder and double-click masseffect2config or something like that, go to saves and click import mass effect 1 saves, search for the folder of ME1 if you have to and double click the saves folder, close masseffect2config, start mass effect 2, click new game, import save from ME 1 and done. I don't know about the consoles, i think it's automatic. I hope this helped
Jahn, seeing as there is a Mass Effect moive on the way, wouldn't be a great reason to review ME2?
How does it work if u make a choice and it effects the next game does it work off your saves or how
+Zero Cool just hopped on and saw this. I did figure it out eventually. But thanks anyway
1:19 Who is he talking about? I never had this happen when I played...
Fist
ionfalcom1 ohhh thanks
First review of Mass Effect that didn't mention the Elevators XD
They are, it's coming in the ME trilogy at the end of this year, i believe you can also get it on the PSN.
One of my favorite games of all time! Great times :) The trilogy is almost complete!
Wait is this game is rate pending or mature? On the picture I see it said rare pending
wow your green-screening skills have really improved since this
These 2 games have become my favorite game series, can't wait for ME 3!!!!
Pre ordered it and.. I don't really play shooters but I am willing to go there to play this story. With so many different alien species, great story, great characters and..
I'm Commander Sheppard, and Jeremy is my favorite reviewer on TH-cam.
Who did you save? Ashley or Kaiden?
Playing this again. Lovin it still :)
@JeremyJahns How do you become partnered? Do they approach you, or do you have to apply?
I didn't play them in order. I started with the second game and then realized we actually owned the first and went back to it. You won't understand the story elements without the first two games. There will be times, if you haven't played the older games, when things will not makes sense. However, if you're just in it for the fun play experience... Still go back and play the older games.

For whoevers played me1 did u let the rachni live or did u kill the queen
the story of mass effect sounds pretty cool.
also the game itself.
may check it out
I fucking love this game series so much, probably because I'm such a Star Trek nerd my entire life.
Now a review of ME2 would be awesome.
Do you remember the Thorian on Feros? It was me.
would you please review the Max Payne series? Or a preview of Max Payne 3? thanks
I love this game series i can play them both anytime and not get bored i have beaten the second one like 12 times. Can't wait for the third one. BioWare I love you.
Just got it yesterday.Loving it so far and Iam not even a spectre yet
any chance of a Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 Review?
did anyone else have trouble figuring out the way to travel on the galaxy map because you didn't realise u had to zoom out again?
the real thing eh? then tell me me Vakarian where did you learn to dance tango so bloody well?
after quoting Shepard at the end, I'm so hot for Jeremy Jahns
Sovereign was the first villain that honestly scared the shit out of me.
you need more subs, your vids are always good shit.
I have been wanting to give this series a try. I probably will now. Another great choice/effect based game is The Walking Dead by Telltale. I'd love to see a review for that or for the show, since season 3 starts Sunday.
Hello from 2024
Hey Jeremy, who were your favorite party members??
this is what gaming need to be like awesome action and a rich story
How is the second one?
Jeremy, I'm sure y there is a way to let that person live so he can appear in Mass Effect 2, just level up your charm or get the family armor for that character
This guy deserves more views.
Yes! You're finally a partner! You REALLY deserve it. Great job Jeremy!!
