I’d say that Marner in particular, and all the big 4-5 guys need to have fun again. You can see Marner squeezing the sawdust out of his stick. ( I realize they are using composites) It’s amazing to get the chance to play in the nhl: obviously pay attention to the details, get more net front presence, shoot more and work hard, but I really think it’s in the guys’ minds. How many posts have been hit, half those get in and we aren’t having this conversation. When the pucks don’t fall in not good for one’s kitchen. Better to struggle now then in games after 70. We’ll see how it goes. Obviously the big 4 are incredible players but I’m 42 years old and have zero confidence. Really feels like the organization is cursed. Sorry there is a lot going on in this comment. Love the content, keep up the good work Steve.
This is what I commented on the last video for the Pittsburgh game, thought you might be interested cause it’s a similar theory: Does this make sense? I’m not a leafs fan but here’s my take. Looking at the lineups it’s pretty obvious who you’d think wins this. But in my head what I wanted to know most was, do the leafs know, about the Penguins lineup for tonight? Because if they know, then they’re losing. Because it feels like if they are in a game, that they know they need to win, they simply can’t do it. There has to be nothing on the line to win. The game becomes 100% mental and it’s like they’ve never played hockey before. They become completely consumed by the thought of what is going to happen if they lose, instead of thinking or rather believing, they are going to win. And if you think you’re gonna lose, you will lose. It’s the David Ayers game, the up 3-1 in the series, game 7 of that series. They, and, even the fans, know they’re going to lose. And honestly I don’t know how you can do that and be a professional athlete. If you’re so consumed by your thoughts that you can’t go out and play, and enjoy it, how do you keep going? I’ve seen some players speak after going to sports psychologists and they seem like a different person. If they don’t have the leafs at least their stars doing this, they’re failing them. Because there is something really wrong with those guys, and yet, they are the ones wearing the 'C' and the 'A' when they can’t even help themselves. And it kills the whole team. I genuinely hope these guys get the help they need cause I find this actually painful to continue to watch.
I feal the same way you do!! Maybe the LEAFS are cursed. Ballard is still haunting the organization. We need to cleanse the stadium and the team. We also need to send out positive vibes towards the team, this negative energy from the fans is poison. The boys hear it and feel it.
@@jamied4486 I’m sorry but that’s just a stupid thing to say. Why would anyone want to be a professional athlete, doing what they love, if they dont enjoy it. Actually it’s worse, because it’s gone from something you did love to something you can’t even enjoy anymore. That’s even more depressing. Maybe you didn’t understand. He didn’t mean fun as in don’t care just do whatever you want and have fun. He meant these are skilled guys. If they aren’t going out there and creating and making plays, they’re not going to be very successful. The guys that are truly doing this for the love of the game like Crosby and McDavid become the best in the league because it’s not work, it’s not pain to them. It’s just about being their best and doing everything to become that. You can’t be the best without having immense passion for what you’re doing you simply won’t work hard enough
I'm really looking forward to the Red Wings first game against the Leafs here in a few days. With our uneven play and the Leafs current discombobulation, it could prove eventful.
the Canes can play defense with the best in the NHL. it was the Canes playing fierce defense that game the Ayres won, that saved the game for Zamboni guy. I am honestly shocked by this 7 game start for the Leafs. why do the guys look so blasé during post game?
I would like to say it was so fun after the game because when Freddy was announced the first star the people who were still in the arena were chanting Freddy so loud that he had to ask Tripp Tracy to repeat his question.
When you pay almost half of the teams cap on 4 guys, and they are not performing...well that makes 2 problems. 1. They suck, so the team sucks. 2. They are untradable because of the high cap/low production.
You fix this by erasing the organization from existence, then starting a new Toronto expansion team. At this point I'm not sure if hoping they will win a cup before I die is realistic, and I'm 22.
I think this team just owns my soul now because I am actually happy with that game. I had fun watching. That's a success in my book. It's be nice if they could win more often though.

Meanwhile the other team came into it with a recent history of sheer and utter dominance from every aspect of play top to bottom, left to right, front to back, inside and out. One team came in trying to gobble up killer instinct, the other was still picking at it like a four-year-old seeing plain boiled broccoli for the first time.

Hi Steve. I only found your channel last night by random chance. It happened to be the video of you reacting to the leafs losing "to a 42 year old zamboni driver, who works for them!". I will admit that I am a Sabres fan, lived around Buffalo all my life. So yes, I do only watch the videos of you reacting to Toronto losses! But you are seriously entertaining to watch, and because of that, I gave you a sub! Fun little story for you! I have a friend who, years ago, went to a Sabres playoff game (obviously at least over 10 years ago!). He said that their were two guys sitting in front of him who didn't react when the Sabres scored and when the other team scored. (For the life of me, I don't remember which game he was talking about). So during intermission he leaned forward and asked the guys "Hey, if you don't mind me asking, I noticed you guys didn't react to either team scoring, who are you cheering for?" The guys look at him and ask my friend, "Can you keep a secret?" Now my friend mentioned how both these guys had jackets on. So my friend told them yeah, I'll keep a secret, and both of them opened there jackets and were wearing Leafs jerseys. One of them told my friend "We never make the playoffs. We just wanted to experience a playoff game live in person." Naturally, as a Sabres fan, this is superb! And while the Sabres are off to a nice little start, 5-1-1 (Bruins ruin everything... literally... I can go on about the day the Bruins killed the Sabres franchise with Lucic running MIller and not one reaction by the Sabres....) but with the season 82 games long, and the Sabres being the Sabres, the losing is bound to happen! So I will enjoy this little winning lifestyle for now, until the inevitable happens! Thanks for these videos Steve! Sorry for the long comment!

AHO!!!!!!! Showing he should be ranked higher then both Marner and Matthews. Not only is he a major offensive threat but he is far better on the defensive side of the puck. He continues to shut down the players that are ranked above him while being a point agame or more Center. I'm sure if he played in the weak North division last year he would have had a ton of goals too. I am also sure if he played on a Canadian or original six team he would be ranked higher.
Ariana, Dufas sure has. A clown took over from Lou the master ( 3 time Cup winner) in 2018. What can be done to fix this team? Not much. Plus these players are bloody uncoachable.

The biggest lessons I take from the Leafs (as not a Leafs fan) is tips for my Eastside Hockey Manager team. On how to not do contract and roster construction. No clue how you fix the Leafs because my "career" as a GM started after I saw the Leafs do these things...
As a Pens fan I want to congratulate Mathews for scoring in this game. Now Toronto's big 3 have as many goals for the season as O'Connor had in the game against them.* *Yes I know I have to get this jab in now because it won't be true for very long.
The follow through rule is a new rule only a couple years old; it used to be you had to be in control of your stick at all times. I think they should change it slightly. Don't call follow throughs on shot attempts in the offensive zone, but clearing/dumping the puck from the neutral or defensive zone you need to be in control of your stick and can be called for highsticking.
Remember: the Leafs have sunk nearly half their cap space into three forwards who have two goals and five points across seven games. _Combined._ I'm honestly surprised Dubas hasn't been run out of town by a mob of royally pissed-off fans yet.
One of the only upsides to last night's broadcast was the fact that I saw a "watch a leafs game with Steve Dangle" ad and got very excited. That's about it
I really think signing Tavares was a mistake, Not saying it's his fault at all but he is the Captain and I think we can all agree his cap hit is atleast 3 million high
4 million high? The guy was being offered $15 million a season to play elsewhere. No, the real mistake was signing the young guys like they had the resume of JT. Matthews is going to prove it over the duration, Marner on the other hand has played down his value and I think he's the one who's $4 million overpaid.
@@mortimerreed I believe 13 from San Jos was his highest offer but that doesn't mean anything...Tavares is not a top 20 player and is being paid like a top 5. Marner is overpaid but you could argue the Tavares contract is partly the reason why, even if you assume without Tavares Marner is still making his current cap hit, Marner, Matthews and Nylander are enough stars and are all drafted and developed. Tavares is making 11 million with that Toronto can keep Kadri and Hyman and have actual heart. I know people offered Tavares more but that doesn't make his current contract smart...Just because someone else is willing to jump off a 130 meter cliff doesn't make jumping off a 110 meter cliff smart.
@@AceMatthew25414 Tavares makes whoever he's with better. Marner isn't a star without him sorry not sorry but he gets what he wants (to play with Matthews) and regresses but yeah keep thinking that's a star. Matthews has been the real deal and this franchise is squandering him.
I would love to see the team be more physical to scare the opposing team into making more mistakes. Their forte is natural skill, which is what takes over when a game gets chippy and emotions are high, and I think playing physically is the way to turn the game that way.

Dubas went all in last year, knowing it would be at a cost this year. It’s the teams fault for not capitalizing on that opportunity, but also his fault for putting all his eggs in one basket.
This core has 13 games left to prove to me that they can be above 500 by at least 5 games by game 20. if not begin to dismantle it piece by piece. Reilly is the obvious place to start. That means theyre going 10-3-0 in the next 13 games...yikes seems like a miracle already. The reason is they need to start winning more games now as it will get much tougher later when teams really get desparate to make the playoffs. I will be fine with 4 games above 500 as well

This is what I commented on the last video for the Pittsburgh game, thought you might be interested cause it’s a similar theory:
Does this make sense?
@@pdubcentral I’ve been saying for a while too. It’s a mental curse. I’ve seen how a sports psychologist can turn a team around, it’s insane

_Combined._

4 million high? The guy was being offered $15 million a season to play elsewhere. No, the real mistake was signing the young guys like they had the resume of JT. Matthews is going to prove it over the duration, Marner on the other hand has played down his value and I think he's the one who's $4 million overpaid.
@@BAMFshee and imagine Hyman Kadri and Bunting all playing together for example
@@mortimerreed I believe 13 from San Jos was his highest offer but that doesn't mean anything...Tavares is not a top 20 player and is being paid like a top 5. Marner is overpaid but you could argue the Tavares contract is partly the reason why, even if you assume without Tavares Marner is still making his current cap hit, Marner, Matthews and Nylander are enough stars and are all drafted and developed. Tavares is making 11 million with that Toronto can keep Kadri and Hyman and have actual heart.
