THANK YOU for taking us along on this great adventure. You are both incredible inspirations. We loved your trek, and presence on camera; no frills, no BS, all the ups and downs; you kept it real! Thanks again, and best wishes for many more.
Wow Congratulations Really enjoyed watching your journey Thanks for all the extra effort capturing the names and faces along the way, then going back and recognize them, well done!
Thanks Ken and Thia !!! I want to hike the PCT in 2022 to create my "tramily" also and to live at 150% my adventure like you did !!! You are an inspiration for all the people who are hesitant and not sure to be enough healthy to walk like you did !! So thanks again and you will be on my mind in 2022 I promis ! Take care of you and stay safe ! Big hug from France !
Well done Ken and Thea! What am I going to watch now? The News?😩😩. Thanks for taking us along with you! Rest up during the winter and see you in your next adventure!
The news? Lord no! After we got home from the trail we switched on the TV and by the end of the night we were ready to head back out to the peacefulness of the trail.
Thanks for this video. I have been going through Ken and Thia withdrawal, you guys have become family. I will try the John Muir Trail next year to celebrate my 75th birthday. Keep on keepin on! Peace, Herb
Good for you Herb! When we started the trail I thought at 63 I'd be one of the oldest guys out there. Nope! We ran into lots of hikers in their late 60's and 70's, including one robust 75 year old who was hiking 300 miles of the northern California section. Good luck to you!
Congratulations on the completion of your thru hike adventure, awesome. I have enjoyed your videos, thanks for taking the time to post them for us to follow along.. Looking forward to more of your adventures.
Good to see you again. Sorry, I am a couple of days behind since Cindi, Henry and I went up to Halfway, Oregon for a week to visit my Uncle and Cousin. The colors were amazing on the hills. As you were talking I got to thinking, the 30 mile trek back to the truck is kind of like weening yourself off a drug. Get to experience the camp and the food for a couple of last nights to let yourself adjust to the end of the trail, glad you got to see some old friends on the way out. That was almost like the final hike for the last three on Survivor going to the final Tribal Council remembering the other competitors. We got back from Oregon last night and Henry, our Corgi, looks like he is going through withdrawal from being on the ranch with the other animals. I know you and you will have many more adventures in the future. I hope you chronicle your next adventures. I hope you know how many people get so much enjoyment and inspiration from your videos. What an adventure.
Wow, it was some kind of adventure wasn't it? At the end of the hike all I could think about was the beginning; I remembered how excited and inexperienced we were -- and apprehensive -- as we knew that the majority of people who start the PCT end up dropping out after the first couple of hundred miles. Would that be us too? Being an older couple who weren't in the best physical shape when we started, we certainly had the odds stacked against us! But we'd often heard the saying that "a thru-hike is 25% physical and 75% mental". And after our experience I can say I agree with that. Other than injuries, the biggest reason that we saw hikers quitting the trail was mental fatigue or lack of willpower to deal with the sometimes harsh conditions (hot, cold, thirst, hunger, etc.) We really appreciated all the support and encouragement you gave us throughout our hike, especially driving all the way up to Carson Pass to give us trail magic! Good luck on your move to Tennessee (you're getting out of California just in time!). Stay in touch. Your friends, Ken and Thia.
I think it’s great you doing a few last videos of your epic journey. You need time to process everything you went through. It wasn’t just a weekend hike. It was a six month way of life. It takes time to transition back to home life. And after this epic journey you will never be the same again. But I know your dogs and goats were happy to see you. A lot of friends were made. You have something special that will forever bond you to those who made the same epic journey. This was a very special year. Good on you. Congratulations to you both and the rest of the graduating class of 2020
Thanks Ken and Thia for bringing some additional joy to my life each day. I was lucky enough to come across your channel before day one on PCT and have watched all your videos! I was hoping to run into you on a couple of the WA sections but had to get off trail for a couple of health issues. Thanks for picking me up when I was down.
Hello Ken and Thia (or better Goldilocks and Roadkill) - congratulations on your incredible achievement - Thruhike the PCT. That was an almost unbelievable achievement on your part - really. I watched every video of you from the beginning to the end and so I (almost) hiked with you. It was very, very emotional for me when you reached the Canadian border !!! I actually had a few tears of joy in my eyes for reaching your goal ...... One of my big dreams has been to hike the PCT for 5 years - but the years go by and now I'm 69 and I always dream still of it. Fortunately, there are individualists like you who hike the PCT and also post great videos on the net .. Thanks again for that .. I already miss your "Good morning everybody" ..... Stay healthy and greetings from Switzerland
Hi Vital! Thank you for your kind words. I hope that you won't give up on your dream just yet. If you are still healthy there is no reason you cannot try to hike the PCT, as we met many hikers in their 60'svand even some in their 70's and they were keeping up with the young kids just fine. Although Covid-19 is still a problem, hopefully it will pass quickly and people will be able to travel freely again. Maybe you could start your hike this spring!
Thank you so much for all the work you put into these videos. I'm catching up on the last half dozen or so today and sitting here with a huge lump in my throat , longing to make my own PCT journey. It has been so great following along with you. I've enjoyed all the Charlie the Lonesome Cougar cameo appearances. And the epic music in these last videos is wonderful. I'm thrilled to hear the ICT is on your calendar for next season; I'll be watching those videos, for sure. Congrats and thanks from the Spokane area.
Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed our videos Josephine. We encourage you to plan your own PCT hike, even if it's only a section hike. It's life changing!
Oh wow! Congratulations! I can completely understand how getting a second chance at life like this can change your perspective. You now value life and friends/family more than ever. Throw on a backpack and get out there and have an adventure!
Hey Roadkill! Just found these videos (didn't know your real names until someone mentioned on FB recently). We met at Red's Meadow Resort, I had a nice chat with Goldilocks (I'm Scrubs). Ended up bailing at Ashland due to wildfires but looking forward to completing the trail THIS year. So nice to see so many familiar faces in your videos. Congrats on a great hike!
Thanks Liz! Goldi and I both remember you from Red's Meadows. Don't feel bad about having to get off trail and Ashland; the wildfires forced us to skip the northern half of Oregon and then skip again from White Pass to Hart's Pass. We are also hoping to get back on trail this summer to make up those miles. Good luck to you!
Thank you! Goldilocks and Roadkill. I'm sure there are some of us tearing up along with you as well. You're quite the inspiration. I'd love to do from Snowqualomine to the boarder, also the Colorado Trail. The PCT from Campo to Kennedy Meadows looks intriguing as well, dangerous for big lugs like me I guess. Looking forward to your Post Script videos. Sound track on this one is terrific.
Congratulations on your EPIC journey! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. It was a delight to follow along with you. All the best to both of you, and Happy Trails ahead! Take care and be well. :)
Hi, Ken! I was getting worried that something had happened to you... but after enjoying this final vid (of the PCT, that is) I have to say it was well worth the wait!! An EXCELLENT conclusion to your vlog. I went thru and read most of the earlier comments, and I can only echo the appreciation many have expressed. I only wish I had had my phone out to capture the expression on your face when you saw the Pepsi!! So nice to hike back that last 2 miles with you! Will be looking forward to the 'epilogs'... Thanks for sharing your adventure, Ed
Thanks again for your help and encouragement Ed. Sorry this final video was so late; there are SO MANY distractions now that we're back home, as well as a very long "honey-do" list after 7 months away. But we are making plans for a series of post-hike videos as well as making plans for future hiking adventures.
Great job Ken & Thia! Loved watching your videos! You are an inspiration to many people who might think they can't do it for what ever reason, You proved that it can be done despite different health / phisical issues.. I seen the video of some meal prep that you did before hand, if you have more meal ideas that you can share I'd love to see that.. Always trying to find different ideas. Can't wait for more of your adventures!
I would like to watch you guys’ video all the time! Really appreciate your work to record, edit and post your videos, it’s A LOT of work. Watching your video becomes part of my life:)
Congratulations on completing your journey! It was so much fun tagging along - I enjoyed everyone of your videos and will miss you guys!!! Can’t wait til your next adventure.
Thank you for sharing your hike with us. What I appreciated is how you took your time and enjoyed the journey. Other hikers get focused on the destination and not the journey. What I will say is your one tough son of a gun with your disabilities and health history!
Thanks Michael! I have to admit that I have learned to enjoy "The Journey" the hard way: after rushing through so many important events in my life with the goal of completing them as quickly as possible so I could move onto my next challenge, it finally dawned on me that the real reward is in the doing, not the completing, of a task/challenge. I'm glad you thought I was "tough", although I think "stubborn" is more appropriate. LOL!
This is so so bittersweet. This class of 2020 was just so great. A bunch of happy renegades. (If you find out that the kitty at Acton KOA is happy and safe, let us know, please!). Bye to Skipper and the Family. Thanks to Skagit Ed for representing us couch potatoes and bringing them back to the road. Us commenters/viewers are so grateful to have been a part of these last moments thru you. Hey, if you just video your home, goats, reincarnation of your puppy etc. we will be there.
Hi, Stephanie: In browsing thru the comments, before I actually made mine, I was surprised, and delighted, to see your mention of 'this old couch potato'! LOL I do still get out a bit, but spending a fair amount of time helping my older sister and Mom, who are both dealing with health issues. As I told many of the hikers I met, my plan is to hike every trail on Earth when I'm young and healthy again.... post-Armageddon! I'm a Viet-era Vet and after Nam I re-examined a bunch of stuff, and with the insanity going on right now, I don't think we're far from a major 'Re-set'... Thought Ken's musings in the early part of this video were interesting, and we actually discussed the issue a bit at the parking lot. 'Interesting' times ahead, indeed!! Take care, and thanks for the 'shout out'... Skagit Ed
Thanks for capturing and sharing this epic journey. You have accomplished quite a feat in a very unique year. You are certainly hikers thru and thru but I do hope to see you will fill in the gaps (esp the rest of the sierra!) to "complete" the trail. 😀 some questions - what went well /would you do differently if you were to go about it again (strategy, gear, mindset etc), best and worse days, how much did cvd19 affect your hike, what advice would you give to future hikers and what meal did you look forward/miss most while on trail? Thanks again and looking forward to the Idaho centennial with the goats! 👍👍🥾🙌
Great finale! I'm gearing up for 2021 and look forward to your upcoming follow up videos. Thank you for sharing your journey! Now on to do some more epic S#!T!👍
Congratulations Ken and Thia!!! I have been stalking you throughout your journey on the PCT like that lion in your videos. 😸 What an incredible trip it was. You have so much to be proud of and have inspired me so much to get on the trail! Thank you for sharing your adventures and hope you continue to share more videos in the future. God bless.
Congrats on your finish. Just finished watching your Sonora Pass section videos. I started a section hike there a day after you. Met Midnight Rider(?), Dirt and Sue during my hike but somehow missed you two. Ships in the night. Congratulations again.
Thanks for the "final" video. Looking forward to seeing what worked and what didn't, and your future hikes. Let me know if you ever decide to do the AT! I'll try to help you guys with logistics.
This was an epic journey for sure! It must be weird to be off trail now! Nice you could meet up with other hiker friends on your last night out! 😁 Thanks for all the sharing you did! Have a great Sunday! Kaat
Sad that your trip ended. we had a routine in our household to watch your videos. Now what? Anyway, it will be great to see the video or discussion for lessons learned or things you will do differently, as far as weather, gear, food, and others. This will help us who are planning to do this hike in the future. Huge Congratulation! You have an awesome wife.
Thank you! We hope the break in our adventures will only be temporary and we'll be starting another Epic Adventure once the snow melts. When we do we'll definitely continue to post videos on it. Thanks for watching!
Deep Bows... You two have been a steady inspiration for both my wife and me. I must also add that I particularly appreciated bring able to share this story with my niece who is currently battling a rare type of bone/leg cancer. After extensive surgery the cancer has returned and she's currently having to decide between more surgery or amputation. She hasn't decided yet, but no matter which way she goes I really appreciate that I was able to share Ken's story with her. In my mind you're not only an inspiration but a hero for us all. Again, thanks to you both and I hope you continue your channel. I'd love to see a post hike gear review with any tips you care to share for backpacking as a couple.
Hi HT. We're touched to hear that you found our hike so inspiring and are very sorry to hear about your niece. I feel extraordinarily lucky to still be able to hike after my accident even though I very nearly ended up as an amputee myself. You probably also know that despite keeping my legs my doctors told me I'd never hike again. I only say that as evidence that people with disabilities are often capable of more than the "experts" believe if they have determination and the right mental attitude. I sincerely hope your niece wins her battle with cancer without having to lose her leg. But even if she does, she can still achieve a lot -- and that includes hiking!
Thanks Ken & Thia, for bringing us along for the last 6 months. It had had been such an interesting and inspirational journey for me to follow your struggle and successes. I plan to do the JMT late summer next year if i am able to visit USA (I live in Denmark) and PCT within the next 2-3 years before i turn 60. Thank You!!!
We're happy to hear that you enjoyed watching our PCT hike. The JMT is a beautiful trail and a good introduction to the PCT. And at 60 you are still young enough to do it (I'm 63 myself, and we met many hikers my age or even older!). Good luck!
From watching your pre pct goat adventures, your planning to hike the pct, watching your channel grow, watching the changes as you did your journey, the highs, the lows, the challenges. Its a sad day here watching your last pct hiking video. All good things must come to an end You inspired me to get out backpacking and challenge myself. Thank you again for allowing us to join your adventures and really looking forward to your future planned hike with your goaties! This adventure was EPIC!! now to enjoy your followup videos! Bye for now from 🇨🇦! Ps: Glad you kept the beard 😉
Hey BnF! Yes, you were one of our original subscribers and commenters. We're glad you enjoyed following our journey and have been inspired to do some backpacking yourself. We will definitely be making more videos in the future and accepting suggestions for topics to cover in them. Thanks again for your support over all these long months.
Congratulations and well done! Loved coming along with you on this ride... you both gave us something to look forward to as C-19 drug on and on and on. Your adventure was amazing and one I’m sure you will never forget. Keeping doing Epic $h1+!!! Looking forward your post hike videos. If one of those videos will be a Q & A video, here are a few questions that I’d like you two to touch on. Will you go back to fill in the gaps - that you didn’t do? What are your 3 biggest take aways or lessons learned from this hike? What gear did you change out or leave behind at some point? Did you do a shakedown along the way? What, if any, piece of gear did you not have that in retrospect would be worth the weight to bring? Favorite trail meal? Favorite trail snack? How did you each like your pack by the end?
Just cannot say congratulations enough. We really enjoyed watching. We had hoped and planned to meet you at the top of Cook and Green Pass in Seiad Valley, Northern California. We planned to surprise you with trail magic, so we were bummed when you skipped ahead to the Oregon border. Oh well, it’s all part of the adventure. Best wishes, happy trails, keep doing that “epic shit”! 💪🏻💪🏻❤️❤️
Oh no! So sorry we missed you at Seiad Valley. It was a very tough decision to decide to skip up to Oregon, but we felt like it was our only chance to try to reach Canada before the end of the hiking season. In retrospect it was probably the right decision, but we are still disappointed in ourselves for not hiking the entire trail. Even if we go back and fill in the skipped miles, it just won't be the same as doing the whole trail all in one season. Thanks for your support and encouragement. If/when we get back on trail we'll let you know!
Ha, you missed us....well we missed you also. I see you got some snow but it doesn’t look cold. I will say once again that you two are awesome and the epidemy of perserverence.
You guys.... I have loved every day being with you on your vlog and I am going to miss you both dearly. I know that sounds strange but as so many other viewers will testify; we feel we know you both and wished you both well everyday. Hoping to see you guys again soon - maybe another long trail?? Future triple crowners??
Hi DH2. We are overwhelmed by all of the kind comments we've received from our viewers. We haven't made solid plans for future hikes but I can promise you we're not finished. And when we do start our next adventure we'll be sharing it with all of you!
@@kenthiasoutdooradventures2294 thanks for the response - you guys are so lovable - who cannot resist that :-) I have set my subscription to all, so I will keep an eye out. When I finally do our own PCT with hubby, I might even look you both up. Hugs from Oz.
It’s often that one is at a loss for words (and direction) after such intense preparation and energy put into a goal or a grand adventure! Thank you for sharing your sweat, tears and laughter with us! Impressive journey! But you’ve set a precedence now...I’ve become accustomed to the entertainment! No time for you to get depressed over endings, you will need to start planning your next grand adventure! 😁
What a wonderful series of videos to watch! You two are truly inspirational to watch and listen to. My only question I have is totally unrelated to your accomplishment and if it has already been asked and answered I apologize. But what was the source of the music used in the videos, especially your “Theme” song at the opening. Look forward to watching more of your adventures.
Thanks for the kind words Tom. All of my music came from TH-cam. I simply typed in "copyright free instrumental music" and downloaded it into a music editing program. I saved about 100 music clips. I actually had three different "Theme Songs" that I used in my intros. Two came from free TH-cam music, and the third was from the Clint Eastwood spaghetti-western "For a Few Dollars More" (I'm a big fan of Eastwood).
I really enjoyed your journey! When I saw the first video, and the response you made about the negative comments, hiking during the pandemic, I was hooked! You both are 'Trail Blazers' in my eyes. You've done what most of us cannot or will not do, and it was enjoyable to experience the trail through your lens. I am looking forward to more videos you share. Thia, you are a Trooper! Roadkill, loved the ball cap! Loved the cougar clips! When you consider doing more videos, can you comment on how you felt/or got used to camping in the back country, especially with specific critters around (bears, cougars, etc.)? What would you suggest for someone who gets easily spooked by noises? How will you keep your Pack Goats safe in Grizz country? God bless you both as you transition back to home life!
Hi MD! Thanks for the great suggestions for future videos, we love all of them and will try to answer as many we can. We are surprised and humbled by all of the positive comments we've gotten. You guys have made all the time and effort I put into these videos worthwhile.
Hey Roadkill and Goldilocks! I'm Chippy, and I met you guys near Sonora Pass as I hiked CA Section I Sobo back in July with my friend Emily (later to earn the trail name Fastpack) and my son Switchback. I have enjoyed following your adventure and I'm so happy to see that you completed the trail and loved it so much! You two really accomplished a giant task, you are inspiring! Best wishes for future adventures and may we meet again on the trail!
Thanks Chippy! And of course we remember you: Fastback gave me a chunk of salami that was a real godsend, as I was almost completely out of food at that time! I hope you guys enjoyed your section hike and have many more hikes in your future. As you've done with your son, my father did with me, taking me backpacking into the mountains from a young age and instilling a lifelong love of the outdoors. Who knows, maybe someday he'll thru-hike the PCT himself! Thanks for following our adventure.
Thank you for all the videos and congrats to your amazing adventure. You did a lot of night hiking and I am wondering if you really have seen a mountain lion on your journey? I had a permission for this year to hike as well but since I am from Europe there was no chance to come over. Next year I hope things will have improved and there will be a possibility to come over. Why my question about if you have seen mountain lions is because I am hiking alone and I am terrible afraid of them. By the way, I have hiked from Campo to Idyllwild in 2019 and hope to continue next year from Idyllwild.
You guys have done amazing. You give me hope that my husband and I could do long distance hike. Husband has to get a hip replacement first. Anyway, I was one that was unsure about you hiking during covid. We have learned so much more since then. I'm so glad things went well. I'm glad you are doing some follow up about your hike. I would like to know things like average milage. The decision to skip. How many completed miles. If you think you will be filling in those skipped miles. Did you learn anything about yourself that you didn't know? What was the most difficult part? Were you glad you made a lot of your food ahead of time? What were your favorite meals? You guys are awesome. The cat will probably follow you home. Lol. Keep trekking
Thanks Gayle, you've given us a lot more ideas for follow-up videos! It's my opinion that most people are capable of far more than they believe. With a new hip your husband should definitely be capable of doing this hike. Before we started our hike I heard from a number of sources that a thru-hike is 25% physical and 75% mental. After our experience on trail I completely agree with that ratio.
So happy for you guys.. do you know how many miles you guys did complete? I know it was a lot. Hard to believe I met you way back in March a little north of Warner Springs... seems like forever ago! Anyways congrats I’m stoked for you two. Marmalade
Hi Marmalade! We remember our meeting well, and were hoping that we'd cross paths again farther up the trail but somehow we missed each other, although we'd hear rumors from time-to-time that we were hiking the same sections of the trail. We haven't done an exact calculation of our miles yet, but our closest guess is around 1,800 miles. While that's well short of a full thru-hike, all things considered (our age, my injuries, forest fires) we're satisfied with our effort. Most of the miles we skipped were in Oregon and Washington, and since we live in Washington it will be easy enough for us to jump back on trail next summer and try to knock out those miles.
@@kenthiasoutdooradventures2294 great to hear from you! Yeah my thru hike last year consisted of finishing the desert in like 5 weeks and getting to Kennedy meadows to early to go into the Sierras thanks to the huge El Niño winter so I waited 5 weeks and flipped and did the Harts pass to the monument and back like you and was cruising but got hurt when the trail avalanches with me on it in the Glacier Peak wilderness after leaving Stevekin going south. I had to hike 75 miles on what I found out later was a badly broken ankle to civilization to Stevens Pass but that ended my hike. So yeah this year I started at Ashland but was ahead of you and planned to do 750 miles to Stevens pass to connect a big section but I was killing the miles, did 283 miles in 13 days to sisters and had 6 days of over 27 miles and my personal records of 32.5 but got to sisters and the passion just left me and I got off trail. My only dream was to thru hike the entire thing and just doing a section just didn’t satisfy me so I listened to myself and got off trail... not sure if that makes sense to you but it surprised me. I know it’s early but do you think you’ll try and go get the rest of the skipped parts done later or? Cheers
I don’t blame you for dragging out your last couple days in trail. As long as you had enough food, why not? You got some gorgeous fall colors on those mountains. Looks like it hot nippy overnight. But no lack of water at least. And no early snow. Whew.
Thanks for the suggestion Joanne. That's a topic we hadn't considered but it would be well worth it to discuss. Injuries were one of the top reasons that hikers ended up quitting the trail.
We have so enjoyed your videos My wife did the PCT I 2015. We do wonder what choirs each of you have. Every morning we see Thia sitting In the tent. Does she pack up both of your sleeping stuff, or does Ken do his first. Could you maybe share what each of you do when you get to camp, and how each of you pack it up in the morning. Thank you
Good questions Karl. Actually, we each take care of packing up our own gear every morning. I normally get up and going first, as Thia doesn't like crawling out from under her warm quilt under she has to. LOL!
Congrats to the both of you. Your PCT videos were by far my favorite. You mention the video in the Aqueduct as your favorite. Which video number is hat one.
Hi Bob. That would be Days 46-47. It's hard to pick a "favorite" video out of so many, but I thought the first part of that one turned put well. I think the photography looked cool as we hiked the pipeline and the music complimented it well.
They both got off trail at Lone Pine, around mile 750. Kronk broke his foot. They hoped to get back on trail after an 8 week recovery, but it wasn't healed up so they decided to become trail angels instead.
When COVID hit I was just getting started watching CDT and AT hikers they all stopped at that time so I didn’t look back until June. That was when I came across your channel (glad that I did). If I recall they showed up again in a later video.
A challenge for sure! We wore our masks while thumbing and tried to display our packs so it was clear that we were hikers rather than homeless people (who cars would be much less likely to pick up). I think it helped that we were a couple - or in one case 2 women and a man (less intimidating). Solo male hitchhikers told us they had a tougher time getting picked up.
Cried again! Haha loved the recap photos. You guys are awesome to watch and what you accomplished was amazing. There was one episode where Ken, you kinda mentioned...growing or changing and I would love to hear you and Thia touch on any personal growth or things you learned about yourself. :) Also, do you know if Salt has a channel or Instagram? I am interested in what brand fanny pack she is using.
We really missed you guys too! We never met anyone else who was so much fun to hike with, and we really wish you wouldn't have had to leave the trail so early (damned Covid!). If they ever re-open the borders you guys will always be welcome to come down for a visit.
Hi Thia 😀 I’ve been following you and Ken on your journey (and loving every minute of it) as I am in the midst of planning my own PCT journey. Would you be open to a phone call/consulting call with me? I’d love to pick your brain for a bit as I get ready for my own adventures. And if you charge an hourly consulting fee, I’d be happy to pay it. Possible, Thia?
Hi Queenanne. I'm sure Thia would be happy to share her experience with you, if we can figure out how to exchange phone numbers. We did it once before but weren't smart about it and several other people found our (my number) and attempted to contact me on the trail. Luckily they all had good intentions (offering assistance) but it could have been a problem....
Ken & Thia's Outdoor Adventures ...Thanks so much. Now to get in touch under the radar...Hmmmm, are you on any of the PCT Facebook pages? That would give us an option for private communication. I’m on the “PCT Class of 2021” page. If you’re not, I can send you an email address in this thread and we can go from there. So excited. Let me know!!
It was a joy to be along for the ride! Thank you so much for posting along your journey.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful hike with us. Respect, and congratulations !!
THANK YOU for taking us along on this great adventure. You are both incredible inspirations. We loved your trek, and presence on camera; no frills, no BS, all the ups and downs; you kept it real! Thanks again, and best wishes for many more.
I have really enjoyed following you on your journey. I have been so inspired by your grit and tenacity. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow
Congratulations
Really enjoyed watching your journey
Thanks for all the extra effort capturing the names and faces along the way, then going back and recognize them, well done!
What an epic adventure! I teared up myself. Congratulations you two! Can't wait to see your next adventure!
Thank you for all the effort you put into sharing your adventure with us.
Thank both of you for the hours of smiles you put on my face. It was an incredible journey. Take a bow 😁
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I’ve so enjoyed your videos and look forward to your next adventure.
Thanks again for all the time and effort required to share your experience. We have really enjoyed following along.
Got me going again..! One word....BEAUTIFUL x
Congratulations to you both and the rest of the graduating class of 2020
Thank you ken & Thia for taking us along!!! Awesome epic journey congratulations 🎉 looking forward to future adventures 👍
I got misty eyed watching this one. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. My husband and I will following your footsteps in 5 months. 🎊💝💝
Great wrap up. Love the fall colors. And the quick interviews with hikers. Look forward you your next adventure
Thanks for taking us along on your epic journey! Looking forward to your gear reviews and next years adventures!
Thanks for a great ride. I loved every minute of it. Great job and can't wait for summer. Hey I am the lady who was in chemo. I'm cancer free!!!!!
Oh wow! Congratulations! I can completely understand how getting a second chance at life like this can change your perspective. You now value life and friends/family more than ever. Throw on a backpack and get out there and have an adventure!
I was just thinking about the two of you. I enjoyed another one of your videos. I was with you from the very beginning. Best wishes always!
Ken and Thia, thanks so much for sharing your journey, I actually got a little teary eyed at the end. Looking forward to your next epic adventure!
You're welcome! 😭
Thanks for sharing, I have followed you from the beginning an even though I didn't comment often it was fun watching your adventures.
Congratulations on your EPIC journey! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. It was a delight to follow along with you. All the best to both of you, and Happy Trails ahead! Take care and be well. :)
Thank you Tim!
Thank you Linda. And yes, Goldilocks plans to make some follow-up videos on the meals she prepared for us to eat on the trail.
I would like to watch you guys’ video all the time! Really appreciate your work to record, edit and post your videos, it’s A LOT of work. Watching your video becomes part of my life:)
Thank you Maccasey!
Amazing adventure congratulations, I'm so looking forward to the next one 😍
Really enjoyed your videos. Congratulations!
Congratulations on completing your journey! It was so much fun tagging along - I enjoyed everyone of your videos and will miss you guys!!! Can’t wait til your next adventure.
Thanks Carol!
Thank you Stephanie. It was the adventure of a lifetime and I'm glad I could share it with you.
Great journey ken and Thia. I enjoyed watching
What an incredible trip it was. You have so much to be proud of and have inspired me so much to get on the trail! Thank you for sharing your adventures and hope you continue to share more videos in the future. God bless.
Thank you for your kind words. We're very flattered to think that our journey has inspired others to try their own hike. It is totally worth it!
Congrats on your finish. Just finished watching your Sonora Pass section videos. I started a section hike there a day after you. Met Midnight Rider(?), Dirt and Sue during my hike but somehow missed you two. Ships in the night. Congratulations again.
Thanks Dennis! We must have been within a couple of miles of one another at one point. Sorry we missed you!
@@kenthiasoutdooradventures2294 Thank you!
Wow, tons of great suggestions for more videos! We have talked about doing a post-trail Q&A video and for sure we'll include all of those questions.
Do epic Shit! Congratulations you two! 🏔⛺️📷✅
Ha, you missed us....well we missed you also. I see you got some snow but it doesn’t look cold. I will say once again that you two are awesome and the epidemy of perserverence.
Just awesome!
True! Now that we've had this amazing experience we are hooked! Once is not enough; we are already talking about our next hike.
So how much of the trail did you actually hike
Cheers
So excited for more videoed. As a person I. My sixties can you talk about how hiking effected you physically? Challenges?
Congratulations.
I don’t blame you for dragging out your last couple days in trail. As long as you had enough food, why not? You got some gorgeous fall colors on those mountains. Looks like it hot nippy overnight. But no lack of water at least. And no early snow. Whew.
Can you guys talk about any injuries you had to over come. Knees, shin splints, etc.
@@kenthiasoutdooradventures2294 Thanks for the reply. When did Kronk and Sacagawea leave the trail?
They both got off trail at Lone Pine, around mile 750. Kronk broke his foot. They hoped to get back on trail after an 8 week recovery, but it wasn't healed up so they decided to become trail angels instead.
When COVID hit I was just getting started watching CDT and AT hikers they all stopped at that time so I didn’t look back until June. That was when I came across your channel (glad that I did). If I recall they showed up again in a later video.
Congratulations! What was it like to hitch hike during the pandemic??
A challenge for sure! We wore our masks while thumbing and tried to display our packs so it was clear that we were hikers rather than homeless people (who cars would be much less likely to pick up). I think it helped that we were a couple - or in one case 2 women and a man (less intimidating). Solo male hitchhikers told us they had a tougher time getting picked up.
Thank you for sharing your trip with all of us. The other Ken
Thanks "other Ken". I know you've been following us from the beginning. It was a wild ride wasn't it?
@@kenthiasoutdooradventures2294 Yes it was.
Cried again! Haha loved the recap photos. You guys are awesome to watch and what you accomplished was amazing. There was one episode where Ken, you kinda mentioned...growing or changing and I would love to hear you and Thia touch on any personal growth or things you learned about yourself. :)
Also, do you know if Salt has a channel or Instagram? I am interested in what brand fanny pack she is using.
Wish we were there with you guys
Thia is a regular on the "Still Hiking 2020" Facebook page. I'll let her know that you're trying to contact her so she can watch for you.
Ken & Thia's Outdoor Adventures Perfect, I’ll look there. Thanks again. 🙏
Finally found her on the Still Hiking 2020 page and sent her a private note. Yay!
Well, just a few adjectives: Awesome, super!, fantastic, and at least a couple dozen more to describe your better half: _-- Goldilocks!
yea. finished...! how about a vid of ur packs n then ur pack animals...show us what u will take n how u pack n lead the goat's
It'll be our next project!
