I've seen plenty of videos where people just rattle off obvious lists that they've read on some blog or Google search... so I wanted to do something completely different.
The concept of this video is that I wanted to dive DEEPER into the superficial reasons and explore what those reasons really mean in terms of improving people's quality of life.
This was one of the most satisfying videos I've ever made, so I'm hoping you all like it! 🙂

#1 - Cost of living. Dollars go a long way
#2 - Culture. Paisas are some of the friendliest people I've ever met
#3 - Dating. there are beautiful women everywhere, but add the Paisa culture and that makes them even more extraordinary
#4 - Nature. there are plenty of beautiful scenic places to visit nearby or a few hours' drive away
#5 - HQ. in my experience Medellin has been a great place to stay as a base and then travel to other parts of Colombia or Latin America. I'm sure Bogota has more flight options, but Medellin is so much more fun to stay at in my opinion

    • @AKJoel

Great Video Gentlemen... All the information is spot on! I have been living in Buenos Aires along the transvia here in Medellin. I have travelled throughout Colombia, and I wanted to provide my opinion on the high percentage of absolutely beautiful women you find in Medellin. I feel it is a little more than keeping up with exercise and dressing nice. I feel with it could associated with the genetics, the air, minerals in the waters. As you travel to the Pueblos throughout Antioquia, you see one Miss Universe after another just riding a scooter, or working at the pharmacy.
As a solo traveller the reason that brought me to Medellin was the people. You have to be able to speak a little Spanish, the Paisa Culture is one of kind. Blessing

My biggest question that you don’t seem to cover in any TH-cam videos is taxes. I read online that if stay for more than ~180 days in Medellin, you have to pay taxes on US and Colombia on all earned income for that calendar year. Is that correct? Other than FEIE and FTC, is there any way around that if you’re above the FEIE threshold? Thought about booking a call with you guys but can’t decide if my money is better spent with an accountant. Let me know what you recommend!

Hello after your video on why youtubers are leaving Colombia and I got thinking. If you and Andrew are looking for video ideas how about some basic Spanish phrases videos. These can be different from other ones as you can get local people to help out. This would help out the people watching the video in not only knowing the phrase but also the local accent dialect. For the people helping you this can be a nice way to promote local businesses that are good and won't try to screw over gringos.

4600 is a lot of money, even in Europe (excluding the 5-8 richest countries, of course). In Spain, many people earn less than 2K dollars and can still travel to Colombia, Thailand… and have a very decent quality of life. The only thing, very very hard to buy property in Spain and other European countries

The problem I have with the idea of expatriating is that, while I'd love the lower cost of living, I wouldn't make nearly as much money.
Yes, I work remotely, but if I moved I'd take a paycut and make a Colombian wage instead of an American one.
I'd work part-time for 30 hours a week and live comfortably if I could make what I make here down there.

Great video Gentlemen. I agree completely, but I’d say the following about dating: 1. Available/desirable men are in shorter supply in Colombia as compared the the U.S. which makes women more competitive in finding partners - and I think more reasonable, and 2. Men are generally more valued and respected in Colombia than the U.S., at least good men are. Many men I know feel they are taken for granted in the U.S. Plus, in tech heavy cities like Denver there are more single men than women so the situation is sort of the opposite of Colombia.

There's a lot to do and it's a great city - I think I paid around $200 a month for my room. Can't comment on Monterrey though as I've never been!

come on guys who is paying 2 and 3 thousand a month for an apartment to live in Medellin, even in poblano? are you kidding me...
that's gringo prices man, for 2 thousand you better get an absolute insane apartment of over 200 meters, which is an overkill.
it's either that or Medellin has just gotten overpriced for what it is. in bogota you still get a beautiful apartment that's plenty big in areas that are safer and have the same amenities of Poblado for 700-800 bucks. Usaquen Santa Barbara, Chico, Chico Norte. guys you can't say cost of living is good and someone is paying 2 grand for an apartment, that's not longer that good.

We're talking just AirBnb - if you want to go the route of engaging a local real estate agent and finding a long term unfurnished places you can get them for as low as $700 - but you have to know what you're doing lol
Also Bogota is another story - Medellin is the absolute hub of tourism and expat life so you can't compare it to Bogota in the tourism and expat regard.

    • @Techno077
      @Techno077 ปีที่แล้ว

@@AKJoel for 2022 bogota has recieved double the tourist medellin has but definitely its a big city vibe its not to be compared. If your talking airbnbs then saying the city is affordable when you have to rent for over a grand a one bedroom. And two grand or three for a big apartment, makes medellin unaffordable when it comes to airbnbing, for that prices you'd get an apartment in other major cities in europe. They want a different look, a different type of hot...just as Western men are used to Euro good looking gals so Colombian women are exotic to them.
Same for Colombian men towards Euro looking gals,. different to them

Dating in Colombia is very dangerous. between Colombian men being infuriated by foreigners coming to take their women and Scopolamine date drug. Dress code, according to many people talking about Colombia, is very formal all day. I haven't seen that in the videos I've seen. They dress just as casual and sloppy as people in the USA. Hopefully, if I can find a way to get a Visa and move to Colombia, I plan to be in the gym several days a week. As for the income chart you used, I don't find that accurate, but it is based on the average. When I worked my take-home in Florida was only around $1100 a month but that was also around 2017. Now I'm on SSDI and only get $1380 month. As for cost-of-living in Colombia is amazingly affordable. As for early retirement, it isn't recognized by the Colombian government. Since I'm under 65, even though I live on a government pension check, I don't qualify for retirement visa and as I looked Colombia has NO Visa, I qualify for except 90 day tourist visa.

I don't think Colombian men are infuriated, pretty sure they don't care lol I've never ever heard of them getting mad at a foreigner for dating a Colombian

Dating is not really dangerous in Colombia. The problem is too many men think they’re gonna go over there and have the greatest sex of their life and hook up with the hottest woman they’ve ever seen. It is degrading to the people of the country.

Have you ever been to Colombia? I totally agree with them, colombians take pride in looking good before they go anywhere.👍

To date women in the west you have to also be an Astronaut, mind reader, Jesus crists relative, richest man in the whole universe and a SIMP

Clothing does not make the person good looking. Or perfume make them desirable

It most definitely does. You ever seen the videos where they give a homeless person a makeover? Makes a huge difference!
