This is not working for me. I hit export on the vCard, it says exporting then disappears but I can’t find it anywhere. Have tried on both the Samsung and the iPhone and same result

okay, if you use this solution your contacts will be doubled in your iPhone. Once you will get imported contacts through iCloud and second time you will have contact from your Gmail account (which will most likely use on your new iPhone ) you add to your iPhone because that will bring your contact to your iphone as well.
