This song and this album saved my sanity. Came out during a tough time in my life and I didn’t have much money but still had my CD player, not much else, and bought this album. Best Buy ever. This and the other songs from it still speak very powerfully to me.
Hey, mir geht es genauso. Ich höre diesen Song jeden Tag und bekomme dadurch gleich gute Laune. John Farnham ist einer der besten Sänger. Alles Liebe für euch!
Charted 33 years ago! Massive congrats on your career, John (you're about the same age as my sister) - I have many happy memories of your concerts from performing at St Kilda's Luna Park (where you kissed the hand of this 13yo) to local venues from Beaumaris to Essendon and to many nights at Flight Deck at Essendon Airport. You ALWAYS entertained us, had us dancing the night away. And now your music brings back those warm memories. Thank you :)
God this song is so nostalgic for me. My parents used to go to or host sat night dinners the parents would all drink, play games and have a great time and us kids would just play all night Johnny would play every time we all got together ❤ those were the days I will never forget ❤🇦🇺
I directed and edited this clip and I can't remember this version. I only remember the long one that starts outside the club. Still great memories of making this and That's Freedom at the same time. He was such a great bloke to work with.
I think that this song should have been a worldwide hit. Especially as it was written by David A. Stewart from Eurythmics. Love the minimal instrumentation and the blues harp playing. :)
USA Reactors currently - suddenly - all excited about 'discovering' you & sharing your work John ! A whole new generation - raised on electronic backing tapes & voices autotuned -are gasping in disbelief shock & awe at hearing a] a singer who can sing in tune - Live! & b] at the massive 'ear candy' difference having an actual Live Band - or even Full Orchestra - to play / perform with. I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I see one of these munchkins attempting to explain how incredible the live sound of each individual instrument is & how 'it all works together' to 'create this wonderful blend'. It's such a revelation for many of them. Both horrifying - to contemplate just how compartmentalised & impoverished the modern music industry has become - & inspiring to watch these 'revelations' unfold in their ears minds & hearts. They're so insular & are literally gobsmacked to discover that people outside the US actually have talent. How terrific though to see your back catalogue become part of making such a difference. 😄
I know right? Not entirely sure when it started but my TH-cam seemed to know I love John Farnham and it suggested that singer reactions when his account blew up over Barnsey and farnsey’s when something is wrong with my baby… then all these other reactors followed 🤣🤣🤣 although TSR is the most genuine of them all in my opinion
That's not fair. We in the U.S. love good music and more than that amazing singers and instrumentalists. He totally kicked ass in the Little River Band, some ppl hate change. I think he's a total bad ass..
This isn’t the full clip - I just saw the full version on the Max Music channel and I can’t for the life of me figure out who the male actor who brought the girls to the club was - I’m sure he is famous now!!
It perplexes me that he never became an international superstar in the music industry. He easily would’ve hit the top 25 of the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart and UK Singles Chart.
Because he couldnt stand to be away from his family! Burn for You was to his wife (and the band members contributed to the lyrics for their wives) In the era of Bon Jovi and Foreigner etc, he wouldve been lost anyway - Im glad us Aussies got to keep him to ourselves. But, I am a tad biased. 😂
The Hammy Hamster Joke in the Johnny Farm Ham Jam Joke in the Origin of the Torus Joke titled, Serendipity (or milky way dipping). I presume the John Farm Ham Jam Joke exists in a link with Hammy Hamster Joke in Hammy Hum Stir Joke as a parody of the Chain Reaction song where people confused the Law of Motion with the Law of Gravity initially and Sir Isaac Newton was left with the uneviable task of describing to the Royal Society how Gravity differs from Motion. Even today you'll find people who confuse the two and suggest that Gravity is function of Motion in the signs of, 'Chain Reaction' by John Farnham. However, one does not need gravity to achieve a chain reaction as the cosmic billard ball Asteroids and Comets suggest. Remember how I told you about the Serendipity of the creation of a natural circuit the other night when the car crashed next to the electricity transformer near where I live. The circuit is created in a natural domino affect because we had a lot of moisture from the rain. I presume the electrical charge went through conduit and steel reinforcing and the abundant moisture. It's a chain reaction in the Laws of Motion. th-cam.com/video/YDWIVl1Fejk/w-d-xo.html
The Micro Noise Reference of Professor Jansen I'm not sure whether He knew it or not. I think the Professor's reference to his hobby of recording micro noise was an attempt to communicate the idea that the micro sounds which occurred prior to rainfall can be recorded to create the primer to rainfall at a future point in time. The theory may be based on the sound of Crickets. The insect varies the timing and pitch of the chirp prior to and after rainfall. But I'm inclined to think that Professor Jansen was implying that if I got very sensitive recording equipment that could capture the sound of a pin drop then I might capture also the primers or triggers that create the chain reaction needed per cloud formation and rainfall. I dare say his observation was a type of natural empiricism and not the experimental method. As I say, I think that's what his focus was implying to me; But, I can't say that He was aware of it at the time. You would have to go and ask him. He did say to me that He was willing to sell his recordings of micro noise for $2:) How's Florida going these days? th-cam.com/video/YDWIVl1Fejk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9BozDqu3Rp3AJZpP
"OOOOOH MY LORD 'JOHN'... HOW GOOD IS THIS SONG STILL"...?? And, damn... How much we used to party to this song and Album... Cos, the "Chainreaction" album was one of the first album I ever bought on CD.. So, before this Album I always used to Buy each and every Piece of music I wanted as an LP Album or an 45.rpm single... Then I recorded and Copied them over to a Cassette, either 60 or 90.min long, and made My own "ABSOLUTE MUSIC COLLECTIONS" with either the whole Album from just one Artist on to a single Cassette, so that I could 'Hear' and 'Listen' to the complete LP Album on just that one Cassette on the BoomBlaster in My room, or I could take the Cassette with Me in My WalkMan and listen to it when I was 'On the Go'... But, usually I used it a lot, when I was in Class at School.. Cos, I've ALWAYS BEEN WORKING (and I mean it/that both Literally, Physically and also Mentally..) SO MUCH BETTER WITH MUSIC ON... For example, if I have a Clean and Wash My House Day one day.. The first I start with, to get a Cleaner House, is NOT to Pour or Fill up any water or Soap in any Bucket or something like that.. To CLEAN My House, I 'ALWAYS' start by Turning on the Surround Sound System and My 12" Subwoofer (It usually needs a little bit of time, to warm up before it can Perform 100%.. And then I usually don't have to Clean or Dust off any of the Pictures hanging on the walls... The Beat and the Bass, make every single Picture in My whole House shake, so the dust just Shakes and Fall off by itself, and then I only have to Vacuum and Clean the Floors afterwards.. But seriously.. I turn the Music on FIRST.. And then I start to clean.. So, when ever I'm not at home and I have to clean anywhere for some reason, I HAVE to put on My Mp3-Player.. And, I hate all the Modern Stuff.. Cos, when You Buy all these New Electronic Things, like Mp3, HeadPhones and even My Phone's Music Player will say this.. "Do not play Music on High Volume over a long period of time, cos it may or can hurt your hearing over time.. So Usually, You can't turn the Volume Up High Enough.. Or at least as High as I would like it to play.. And this I can thanx the DAMN YANKEES over there on the other side of the Pond.. Just cos a "FRICK'N'MORON".. Had to go and Sue some Manufacturer of a Mp3-Player or a Headphone Maker or some Company for giving him "Tinnitus" and Bad Ringing in his Ears, cos their Product Sounded to high, or You could Play to High Volume on it, so You could develop This "Injury" and "Damage" in your Ears and Hearing.. But REALLY and SERIOUSLY... Can't people take RESPONSIBILITY of their Own STUPIDITY and ACTIONS anymore without it having to Involve or Ruin the Life and Experience of Everybody and all the rest of the 7.2 Billion People on this Planet.. You can't take the High Volume... THEN TURN IT THE F*CK DOWN.. And don't say YOU didn't know.. Cos, actually Your ears would start to Hurt a little bit before it happen.. So, You would/will get some Indications that there is something wrong happening.. Listen to your Body for Christ Sake.. Like the damn woman who couldn't handle a Cup of Coffee and almost lost Her whole "Pussy-cat" cos she put the Hot Cup of Coffee between Her legs while she was driving.. And the thing that could go wrong, went wrong.. And She Sued McDonald's for having TOO HOT COFFEE.. And/So, Now nobody dares to serve Us Hot Coffee anymore, cos they are afraid You gonna do something Stupid and Sue them afterwards... DAMN YANKEES... Always Suing for something that was made out of YOUR OWN STUPIDITY.. Take Ownership of Your Own Actions Instead.. Well.. Anyway.. I listen to HIGH MUSIC AS MUCH AS I WANT OR LIKE NOW... COS I've GOT SOME HELP FROM A FRIEND, AND HE HELP ME BUILD A NEW SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM AND RECEIVER, THAT CAN REALLY "BLOW YOUR MIND" (OUT OF YOUR EARS PROBABLY IF I TURN IT UP REALLY LOUD...) Well, such a Good thing that John Farnham makes this good music then... *JIPPI*

Exactly right. Too many kids these days wouldn't know what having fun was if it hit them on the head! ;-D
Too right! I'm only 33 but convinced I was born into the wrong era 🤣 the 80's/90's are my jam
It perplexes me that he never became an international superstar in the music industry. He easily would’ve hit the top 25 of the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart and UK Singles Chart.
