The missions undertaken by the crews of B-17 bombers during World War II are the stuff of legend. What was it like to fly through relentless anti-aircraft fire over Nazi-occupied Europe? What was it like to have a thin layer of steel between life and death at 15,000 feet? How did it feel to furiously fend off enemy fighters zipping around your plane and then to precisely deliver your payload over enemy targets?

Redux
The same experience remastered with the original engine upgraded to support the functionality present in DX 12. Working on the redux will give us the opportunity to look back and learn in order to push forward with future Flying Fortress titles.

Just so that everyone knows Hamburg was also known by the RAF, RAAF and the eight airforce as chopperburg cause of the high number of aircraft shot down over the city and out laying areas. To date their are about 3000 plus know crash sites in the area that have been documented so far.
I really hope the newest game (B-17 Flying Fortress The Bloody 100th) in the making can live up to the hype. I also hope that this one gets enough love to look like a real redux instead of commenting out old code and putting some new stuff in.

Looks promising. As soon as you load it up, it just says "You died along with your entire crew."
If those two crew men were related, then there is some accuracy there. During the war, there were two brothers, with the last name of Mathis; one was named Jack and the other was named Mark. A heartbreaking story as they were both killed in action. They were both bombardiers in the same squadron of the same bomb group. As for the game, good mission over all. I agree, I think this damage assessment is a little harsh, probably a “fair” should’ve been given, but oh well. Great shooting with those two confirmed kills! Can’t wait for the next episode.

Fantastic episode taff, that was a hell of a close shave with almost missing the target altogether, yeah the first bombs missed but the rest did hit the target, so yeah not exactly a Bullseye.. but you still hit the target, but.. if it's described as a near miss, can understand and see why, but still.. some damage was inflicted, so.. not a total failure. Better still, more enemy aircraft was destroyed by the gunners, so that's a triumph in some shape or form.. not what we was wanting but at least more enemy blood was spilled than that of ours. That declared near miss still hit enemy soil and caused casualties on the ground, along with scarring the living daylights out of the Germans.. so.. you know. Just put it down to more experience being gained. Great episode taff, utterly great, keep up these epic flight series, be it B17, IL-2 or Rise of flight. Thanks for the great episode and well done mate 👍
Well, 6 vs. 1 airframe-wise... but 6 vs. 10 crew-wise. At 'best' 😕

Billy Mitchell was the first pilot to bomb a ship at sea proved it bombing an old warship that was anchored 👍
Newest patch seems to have sorted my CTD issue. I think going to a crew station that was empty was causing it. Flew a mission this morning with no issues. Apart from losing 3 of my squadron and the entire lower squadron! 🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
I’ll be looking at doing my first video on this in the next week or two. 😁
I love how he treats the b17 like it was a fighter plane. All the tight turns right before and after a bomb run to avoid flak. But I guess since the game doesn't actually have the bombers fly into each other there no harm done.

Great Run. Nice adjustment there with extending the bombs out. Target still hit... Hows your overall impression so far for the redux version?
Taff have you ever considered playing through a campaign as the fighter escort? Is that even feasible?
Would be nice if N Europe wasn't always socked in with heavy cloud deck, but I guess par for March. By the way, the weather report on Secondary Target was bullshit. If that was 3/10 cloud, I'm Winston Churchill!!!
Seems the game is limited in weather over the target ( unless that’s just considered time of year) as well as any plane not your own that goes down results in a total loss of crew, even over home land. Enjoy watching the series.
Remember that AI B-17s never have the crew bail out, even if the plane's in a death spiral, so that certainly doesn't help 😑

Question? when altering the waypoints altitude to 28k feet, then you drop it down for the bomb run 15k? or 8K? , what do you set the altitude at after the bombing run is completed?
It's a real shame the Redux version is still so severely flawed. All my hopes are on The Bloody 100th now.
Are there any plans to bring out a similar game with better graphics?

It's a pity that the developers didn't include any reconnaissance films for the second- and third-tier objectives. The weather forecast was and is a joke. Left bank of the river (btw. Elbe) 9/10 clouds, right bank 3/10. Serious? I've already written that the graphics improvements aren't worth the money. Otherwise it remains good entertainment. Well flown, Taff.
Wasn't the game only ten bucks? Just going to wide screen with interior improvements is worth ten bucks.

Intrusive Thought: Mod the Game to include TIE Fighters and the dreaded TIE Interceptor to hunt Taff's Bomber 😂The Cloudy Weather should also affect the Flak somewhat....they would only have RADAR to detect the Bombers position and would not be able to use their sights in order to visually make sure the Flak box is in the right area. There would be a delay between the Radar and the Flak crews as they would need to disperse the targeting info.
How do you complete these missions with the kamikaze german fighter behaviour? Even with the in air collisions off they still mange to hit every plane in my formation and send them cartwheeling into the abyss where they rarely recover. I can't complete missions because of how out of control these collisons are. Doesn't seem to affect you as much just curious if your settings are whats helping that?
I do believe you can turn collisions off.
@@BullGator-kd6ge I already covered this in my comment but turning collisons off doesnt stop the planes from colliding just expoloding on impact. They still go cartwheeling off into the sky. There is no way to completely turn of collisions.
