Love the content :) FYI. These are called AI bots but they are pretty far from any type of AI. Every one of these bots have been hard coded to do what they do based on the designers intentions and creativity. Also, these bots are using the Starcraft API to give them all the in game information instead of a vision system similar to how we are watching the games. Alphastar was AI because it trained itself how to play and had a computer vision system to guide it's in game decisions though it did also use the Starcraft API. These bots are a bit different. Still cool though
I get where you're coming from but depending on the bot the less "hardcoding" you will see That's just a lazy generalization that commonly gets put out there, and saying "pretty far from any type of AI" is just BS AI can use algorithms other then ML to create generic behavior, and react to the current game state
@@rasper1797 Thats fair. AI is overall just a giant catch all term for ML and DL anyway nowadays. There is a fundamental distinction though between bots that are told what to do and bots that are trained or learn what to do. You can totally train just off the API too and know there are a couple bots on the ladder that have done that. These bots are told what to do though so not too different than the logic that any software engineer would write for most other applications.
I think it may be a bit misleading considering what we think of as AI nowadays, but I think computer opponents in strategy games have been called AI for a long time. So the use of the term here doesn't completely come out of thin air.
"AI" is a term that gets overused, and not just in this context. I wouldn't even call the algorithms that are arrived at via machine learning "AI" either.
@@Knowbody42 basically every chess player that knows about the alpha zero/ leela chess zero games will disagree here. in dunno about starcraft though, this i will admit. i guess it also depends on how you define what "intelligence" actually is.
"Greatest AI game!" - Obviously clickbait but I'll see how decent it is. How wrong was I. Had no idea how invested I'd be in two bots going at it 40 minutes later
This game is insane. Super fun to watch, thanks for uploading this and the commentary! :)
What happens if a Benbot floats a starport in a corner guarded by its vikings?
Who knew tvt was what peak bot gaming was all along?
Great game!
How do you play against these?
