i think the clone issue is more of an issue with people not being unique. when I've played as a femroe for like 6 years and never seen my clone. when I drink a fantasia and go au ra i haven't seen my clone... when i drink a fantasia and go hrothgar i haven't seen a clone yet........... when I drink a fantasia and go viera i haven't seen a clone yet..... i may have a fantasia problem.

My hot take is that a lot of what's wrong with the game now is the result of the devs listening to players, from job balance to gameplay mechanics. Jobs nowadays are way more boring than back when I started in Stormblood because people would cry about parses and being suboptimal. "AST is so bad! I didn't get Balance even when I rerolled 8 times! :(" "My job feels awful because I have a lot of buttons to press before I'm ready to burst alongside my team mates! I want my cooldowns to match theirs! :(" This also applies to pretty much all content. "The exploration aethercurrents are so annoying!!! Why would they make me explore the map to find them, I'm wasting my time!!! I had to walk all the way around The Lochs to find the last one!!!" "I DON'T like Eureka!! It's slow and boring!! And the relic grind is a pain!!" "WHY would they make me go through Delubrum Reginae to do my relic grind!! I DON'T want to do this content to get my relics and I DEMAND an alternative way of doing it!!" People were actively asking the devs to speed the game up so they'd race to the finish and run out of content quicker, so they trimmed any fun stuff out and now you can get straight to the point. No minigames, no optimizing rotations, no anything. Just run to PTSD15S, press your buttons and get some loot. 0 engagement, just rewards. (And then they complain about the lack of content...)
I love your chillaxed attitude xD I feel like I keep seeing so much doom content about FFXIV and thought this would be more of the same based on the thumbnail, but it wasnt. Love that you're just taking your time with the game, enjoying it in your own way. I feel like we dont have too many content creators who are casual players and sometimes we lose that perspective.
The complaints about drought and the game being dry happens literally *_every_* expansion around the .4-.5 patch. I don't know why people are acting so surprised or upset about it, it's always like this. Like, there's a reason Yoshi-P tells you to take a break and come back later. It's either that or you find something different to do in game. Personally, I've been working through the variant dungeons for their mounts. I really love the design of them and the puzzle box aspect of figuring out what to do to get certain routes. I also solo them so I don't burn through it too quickly and I can really stop and absorb what's going on, it's the most interested I've been in dungeons as actual living, breathing places for a long time.
What I love about FF14 is that we want more to do while in other MMOS like WoW it feels like they want me to do so much I get overwhelmed. In FF14 we search for fun stuff to do because it is a fun game. What a difference it makes.

Unless you have literally done everything, there is absolutely no real content drought. You're just out of idess of what to do yourself. I keep forgetting to do my Island which is a very big one. There is also the stuff like Eureka and Bozja that i can do and keep passing up. I'm too focused on trying to make money and get back in Crafting Tribe grinding. I want to become an Omni-Job where my Crafters and Gatherers are all Level 90 with all current Master Recipes and Folklore Books aqcuired. There is also sightseeing logs, PvP, side quest clean up, job quests, Gold Saucer stuff, Glam collecting, Custom Deliveries, and many others I can do to keep me occupied. I just keep forgetting to expand my mostly limited horizons because I was so focused on catching up to the MSQ that now that I reached the current end, I'm need to find something to fill that void in the meantime.
If you've played this game for longer than 2 years you likely *have* done everything, and this IS a content draught. Playing content from OLD expansions does not change the amount of content in THIS expansion.
I just started a few months ago and even I DID finish all that. I have Omni 90 combat and DoH/L BiS WITH the relic tools. I have done bozja and all the side content. It doesn't take all they long.... for better or worse. Not everyone does all content like me either and I feel quite bad for them.
Eureka and Bozja arent Endwalker content, there are the tribe quests which Shadowbringers was lacking a bit. We're getting a new Custom delivery, sure, but thats not something that you spend a lot of time on. Craft 6 times a week oh boy so exciting. The problem isnt "FFXIV has no content" its "Endwalker doesnt have enough reason to keep me playing" because it doesn't. We have no longevity in any new content, Variant is done in a week and then never touched again, Sanctuary is spreadsheets and automation. Theres nothing to work towards, and no new goals to achieve. The game doesnt feel like it has anything to keep you wanting to play it, and that is not good for an MMO. We're paying $15 a month here. We want to have fun with our time and money spent. ive been playing about 3 years, started mid shadowbringers, and I have all 90s for all crafter/gatherers as well as all my combat jobs I want. Ive played enough PVP to be tired of it and know many people whove played much more than I do even. But thats irrelevant, pvp isnt Endwalker (except CC, if youre fans of it.)
4:00 just to clarify, job homogenization refers to when jobs are made more similar in design, not necessarily just numbers. for many players, it means their job loses it's identity when every other job starts getting the things that made theirs unique. i haven't played long enough to experience this personally, but a hypothetical example is if only one healer had the rescue action which was a unique identity of their class; then a couple years later, every healer has rescue to level the playing field and prevent the meta being pidgeon-holed based on special abilities like those. over time, this can make jobs frustratingly similar for long-time veterans, and they'll grow to resent jobs they used to love (or other jobs that took their job's identity away)
@@WastingsometimehereIMO they do need to add more variety for female Elezen. There are only two unique faces for them which is the least amount of any of the races. Yes, there are actually “four” but I don’t count the two identical faces that just have a bit of extra makeup added. It’s the exact same face with the same main features (nose, jaw, eyes etc). It sucks, no other race has this problem and the only reason we don’t run into player clones is because not a lot of people play Elezen. Very easy to meet an NPC face clone though. Still love Elezen, it’s the race I always go back to after using a Fantasia but I really hope SE add more unique faces for them with the graphical update and that it’s not just a texture improvement.
1:25 I created a male viera and in the first 20 minutes of gameplay, the first male viera I saw was literally a copy of my character, but the hair color was slightly brighter, I felt awful lol.
The problem I have with ff14 despite having almost 200 days played is that I only really enjoy Raiding and to me, it feels like other content outside of that is as vast as an ocean but deep as a puddle, almost nothing is replayable in this game or gives good enough rewards to incentivize doing it twice outside of Gil farming (Which only matters for people that like housing or the Gil dump mounts/achievements) there are really no other uses for Gil outside of crafted on raid tier release and consumables. Deep Dungeon is too grindy and monotonous, crafting bores the hell out of me and everyone just uses addons to automate that anyway, making the process AFKable. VC dungeons have no good rewards and are boring for the most part (Here is to hoping the addition of Item-level progressing items helps that first issue) Mount collecting is worthless because 99% of people AFK in cities where you can't show off your mount. Island Sanctuary is a spreadsheet simulator that you can spend 15 minutes a week in and never have to think about it until next week but at least it has exclusive rewards that can't be sold on the MB. I love FF14 but I really hope for a piece of repeatable combat content that is fun, similar to WoWs Mythic+ in the way that it's just a fun activity to run with your friends with scaling difficulty, but I doubt that will happen at this rate. Oh and PVP would be fun if the desynch in this game wasn't so dog, currently it's a frustrating experience.
Not your game then, better go looking other games to play. Maybe go back to WoW and do mythic+. Not devs fault they provide other contents that you don't like. So leave and never return
@@anggasurbakti8269 If you don't complain nothing will ever change. My complaints come from a place of love for the game and are shared by many other players. I never blamed the Devs for me not liking content, I know plenty of people who love every single piece of content that I had grievances with, and wish them the best in their endeavors. Telling people to leave and never come back is short-sighted, and only succeeds at creating an echo chamber of people who will never complain about certain aspects of the game, and like I said at the start, without complaint things usually can not change for the better.
I feel like for the out of content bit. I feel like some people confuse the wording of being burnt out and being bored. You cant really be burnt out of 14 unless you have quite literally done everything the game has to offer and youre done with it for a while or forever! Being bored of the game is what 90% of people experience is what I would say!
To me the definitions would be the reversed. You can get burnt out of something without finishing any of the content. MMOs are perfect for getting burnt out because there's so much content in the game that you try doing it all in a short span of time leading you to feeling mentally drained, ie burnt out. For me, bored would signify there's nothing else to do and you're out of content for that game.
You can 100% be burnt out from a video game without having done all the content. Finishing ARR over the course of a few months burnt me out of the game for half a year. I wasn’t bored there was an entire expansion waiting on me. the game literally took too much out of me and me playing it often simply gave me no emotional energy to keep playing until one day I got the urge to start HW.
It's true that a lot of player characters look similar, but I don't think that's necessarily because there aren't enough options. I think a bigger factor is that certain options are just very popular with the playerbase. The most popular choices are female miqo'te and au'ra with white hair and maximum bust size, and each of those races has a couple of really popular faces, probably one per subrace. You can certainly make a distinctive-looking character by choosing different, less popular options. Hesken has his cool hrothgar, for example. There's another TH-camr (sorry, I'm forgetting his name at present) who plays a female miqo'te, but he took her design in a completely different direction and made her look as boyish as possible. She looks cool, too! Very distinctive. I, myself, play a female midlander with red hair in the Adventure style you can buy from the Gold Saucer. Minimum height, minimum bust, and a less popular face. She looks great in the Summer Flame outfit that I have her wearing as a dancer. I haven't seen another player character yet who really resembled her. In a sea of catgirls and dragongirls, even a plain ol' human can really stand out. I don't really think it's a problem that certain looks are so popular. Even if it is somehow a problem, the only real way to fix it would be to take options away from people, and I certainly wouldn't support that.
Personally more hairstyle variety and more accessory variety (especially for vieras) would be great. Vieras have limited hairstyles so more often than not we tend to share the same hairstyles.
OH also Yoshi P. has stated this game is not meant to be played all the time, they want you to take breaks to experience other games and to return later, content drought has always been a thing since 2.0 and on up.
As a free trial player (can't afford the sub rn) ARR is most of my content so maybe I'm biased, I understand the want to get through it as quickly as possible tho
Sync needs to let us keep our level 90 kit and just scale our dmg down. Bbbbut balance. Idfc its old outdated content anyways. Every time im synced to 50 i want to fall asleap with the level 50 kit that lobotomites can figure out. Also let us fkn skip prae cutscenes
1:55 i see why CU3 did it like that and basially comes down to they were focusing on getting FF16 polished as possible and some the content in 14 suffered like relics plus C19
My Hot Take: I think Mods aren't as bad as people deem them out to be, on both sides of the spectrum. I think SE should pull back the reins and actually allow mods to be implemented in the game (at lease in regards to VFX, Clothing, Animation Changes, things like that.), or implement some of the changes these mods make in game so there is no need for them. UI, Accessibility Changes; these are some of the more common mods used that have been asked for for years but has never been implemented, so when players take it into their own hands due to their passion for the game, they get bans? I don't agree with that. Additionally, I believe that people who defend the TOS and are to Blinded by the "THE DEV TEAM SAID DONT USE IT YOSHI P SAID SO TOO" that they needlessly target those who do use them for no reason. I highly doubt putting a new coat of paint on the game that still functions normally is something that deserves or warrants punishment/hate.
Wait, how can the ISLAND generate Gil? I thought it wasn't supposed to be able to do that since it had it's own currency and everything there was built and USED there.
There's a lot of stuff you can buy and sell from the cowries. The best ones being the crafting/gathering materia. There are also some furnishings that can only be bought from the island, those sell for a lot whenever they first drop with a new patch because anyone who hasnt bothered with island cant get them even though theyre usually only 1k cowries. As someone else said, rare dyes.
I also have anosmia :o but not because of Covid 4 times. (Partial or full loss of smell) I'm also a new irl homeowner! Kind of fun to know of someone my age making it through that milestone. Congratulations on the home for sure its not a fun process in my experience but its super worth it so far.
My hot take is: why do we have stun actions when they don't matter around the endgame of the base game. Like there's still use in Heavensward, but like... why bother?
Yeah, you weren't the one I was referring to when it came to FFXIV content creators lol. I've seen so many other "why I am quitting" and "EW is the worst expansion ever" videos popping up here and there that are just silly to me. Even as a massive FFXIV fan I play other games too, and there's nothing wrong with that. I myself have been enjoying Baldur's Gate 3 and Armored Core 6, and when FF16 came out I played that religiously. I just find it silly that I've been seeing a bunch of content creators jump on a doom/gloom bandwagon and that they've "quit" FFXIV over another game. It's all just clickbait, we know they'll be back... In other news, yo I made it into a video.
Shield healers are broken and mitigation is far too strong. Healing in 14 has become about spreadsheeting out your mits and heal tools, then spamming 1 button and maintaing a dot for an entire fight. Going into Dawntrail, we need to see a complete rethinking of how the healer role is handled. Either give healers more DPS options so their rotations are more interesting, or make the fights have more sources of random damage so playing a healer is more interesting. Second hot take, if job homogenisation continues, I would rather they stopped adding jobs to the game and instead focused on making the ones that we have more unique. What's the point of adding 2 new jobs every expansion if they are fundamentally the same as another job except for the job fantasy?
A hot take that I have. That being that you're told this one expansion is like the most greatest expansion over while you're stuck doing one expansion that everybody says is like the most terrible expansion (cough cough stormblood) Then finally getting that expansion only to find out that literally over 70% of this expansion just waste your time with side quests that you don't need to do what the game forces you to do them because it has plot relevance for some reason and there'd be having to spend five hours with a bunch of pixies doing chores!!! Yeah the shadowbringers storyline was good but no way in hell was it the greatest expansion that ever lived in definitely does not deserve the hype that I heard and was told about so long ago when I was stock in stormblood. Because of that it burned me out of the game for a whole tire year only now am I actually catching up what happened to skip so much side content just the only now get the End Walker and still have to now go through that whole entire expansion. Yay.....
I find it funny. The people who have been playing for a long time have done everything and want more. Then there's me. I have 359.9 hours in and haven't gotten through Heavensword yet.
there was a rush for a time in ff14 and when most of the gang finish the endwaker expansion they leave, simple as that.. they complete a game + 4 expansion, good luck giving content that macht that value.
"The relics are gonna be an easy tomestone dump in 2 expansion" Even next expansion.. if it didn't take like a week or two of half-assing hunt trains to finish all 19 xD I think the EW Relic is by far the easiest and most boring to get, since you don't need anything special at all.. its just more of whatever you do daily. Also only requirement for getting unlocked, apart from tomes, is doing the hildibrand questline(which is the only good part of the EW relic imo). It seems more common that people enjoy the new way of getting relics tho, as opposed to it being a hot take. Least from what i've seen in Bryns NN chat xD
The EW relic has been a miserable experience. I feel no connection to any of my relics because there was no journey to get them. My resistance whm cane took a bit of work and I feel like getting it was a reward for the grind.
I play female miqo'te so you would think I would have run into about 1000 clones by now. In the past 4 years I have met exactly 0 clones. I don't know, something about being a grey catgirl. There aren't a lot of us.
I guess I'm late but here's my hot take... Remove relics. They're stupid. It used to be cool back when there were half as many classes as there are now and the game was more casual/mindless grinding focused. But now we have crazy VFX EX glams (that aren't even hard to get), savage glams with VFX, some random crafted stuff that's glowy... Relics aren't cool or unique at this point anymore. Grinding all of them out is painful. Getting them with no effort is also painful. Just delete them. Make cooler weapons for MODERN EX, Savage, maybe Criterion.... get rid of relics alltogether the game doesn't need them anymore. Basically, put more effort into making rewards for fun content rather than make content for a cool reward.
Yeah, most people I think who complain about job homogenization understand WHY the devs are doing it, yes it makes balancing and designing content easier. But the problem is that it makes the game *less fun*. When Paladin plays the same as Gunbreaker plays the same as Warrior, if youve been playing one tank for the last few hours and get bored of it, swapping to the other tanks doesnt really freshen your experience up much, swapping from one melee to another isnt as fun as it could be because youre playing such a similar style. Its not about balance its just job identity and diversity. .... Buyiung a story skip attunes to all the aetherytes and unlocks flying in every zone by the way. So if you buy a Shadowbringers skip, you have everything through Stormblood unlocked too.
Who said anything about a content drought? I thought the criticism was that the Endwalker content has bad replay ability and a lack of incentives. I dunno, feels gaslight-y.
See this isnt a problem for someone like me because i play only for the story and blue quests. Do extremes and dip. I srill javent touched post EW because im waiting for atleast 2 expansions worth of content.
0:38 min.: Thats not a hot take. Thats a fact xD My hot takes have i writen under your short to the video btw if you wants to read it and roast me for it lul :D
1:38 min.: I personal play a Female Viera Rava. We the MOST rare Race form the pretty once. Even my 1 Week Lala Self saw i NEVER out there form outhers recreated. Its just could be my special hair color or the fact that i have a special taste in Woman because i create a chara that looks like the most f*ckalbe for me. While i play i wants to look at least at somthing likealbe and pretty. Anyways. Have a great day.
There is a massive content draught, this community is just creepily defensive about this game to the point where they have cyberbullied multiple people into suicide on the forums over just having minor criticisms or expressing wishes for certain changes. To be blunt, there IS *objectively* a content draught, its not an opinion, its not open to discussion or argument, its a raw fact. Comparing the time spent on average in each content release from any other expansion is sad. Now that doesn't mean the game is dying and its doom and gloom, but it does mean we as PAYING CUSTOMERS have a right to complain that the SUB we're PAYING for the express purpose of constant updates to content between expansions ISNT netting us content.
there is a content drought for you most pl would disagree the pp lwho cry are midcore playerbase and the dont make up more then 15% of the playerbase in most mmorpgs .it not a raw fact bro doing all the content is the same as doing it before oyu just dont have eureka zone but you have island instead .
@@anteprs7908 Endwalker content is lacking. There is PAST EXPANSIONS content to do thats still fun, I myself go back to Bozja for leveling and just farming Castrum, Mettle, and all that, because I enjoy it. I would love the devs to do something drastic like putting Delubrum in Alliance roulette so I can run it more. Its fun, I miss doing those fights. But none of that is new content, so it doesnt change the point that "Endwalker is lacking in content" We used to get two dungeons every patch, there was a trial series side story along with the MSQ, but endwalker merged the two together objectively trimming out an entire bonus story arc. To be fair, we got Tataru's Grand Endeavor, but as of yet there is nothing but cutscenes to gain from it, its still just "talk to these NPCs, watch a cutscene, forget about it for 4 months or more". Island Sanctuary barely helps. You talk to your mammets, set the week's schedule, collect your crap, and then forget about it for a week. its not something actively engaging. Its capped out very easily and then automated, so there isnt really goals to strive for or content to grind out with Sanctuary. Variant dungeons either, once youve done all the routes thats it, no reason to go back.

That's not true, i have a LOT of things to do, but i got burnt out I just don't feel like doing it
It's true that a lot of player characters look similar, but I don't think that's necessarily because there aren't enough options.
Congrats on moving & owning your place! Me and my husband just bought a house last month too c:
Thank you!! And congrats to you too!!
One thing I do hate is not being to my house or island with my alts.
But you can buy items like rare dyes and sell them in the MB.
Give us another chance, let us try to be hotter in our takes
I’ll make another post eventually haha
Your island can give you gill?
I must have missed something.
A hot take that I have.
That being that you're told this one expansion is like the most greatest expansion over while you're stuck doing one expansion that everybody says is like the most terrible expansion (cough cough stormblood)
Then finally getting that expansion only to find out that literally over 70% of this expansion just waste your time with side quests that you don't need to do what the game forces you to do them because it has plot relevance for some reason and there'd be having to spend five hours with a bunch of pixies doing chores!!!
I have 359.9 hours in and haven't gotten through Heavensword yet.
that's pretty normal tbh.
there was a rush for a time in ff14 and when most of the gang finish the endwaker expansion they leave, simple as that.. they complete a game + 4 expansion, good luck giving content that macht that value.
"The relics are gonna be an easy tomestone dump in 2 expansion"
Even next expansion.. if it didn't take like a week or two of half-assing hunt trains to finish all 19 xD
I think the EW Relic is by far the easiest and most boring to get, since you don't need anything special at all.. its just more of whatever you do daily.
Ha! Jokes on you, I play other games so I CAN'T get burnt out! B)
Yeah healers had 4 attacks now they have 3.... so much for that all jobs feeling good at least in solo content.
0:38 min.: Thats not a hot take. Thats a fact xD
My hot takes have i writen under your short to the video btw if you wants to read it and roast me for it lul :D
1:38 min.: I personal play a Female Viera Rava. We the MOST rare Race form the pretty once. So i personaly saw in 4 Years that i play this game now like ca 5 Charas that cames closes to my bunny girl and zero Charas that came close to my former Aura Self and my Former Neko Self.
8:12 min.: Facts. Straight up facts! XD
Oki jokes aside but yeah we NEEEEEED a b*tt slider! ._. XD
8:40 min.: If you make it again look at my two hot takes too :D
They maybe will fit in your video xD
*Miqo'te
99% of people that say there's a content drought have never played mahjong
@@anteprs7908 Endwalker content is lacking.
There is PAST EXPANSIONS content to do thats still fun, I myself go back to Bozja for leveling and just farming Castrum, Mettle, and all that, because I enjoy it. I would love the devs to do something drastic like putting Delubrum in Alliance roulette so I can run it more. Its fun, I miss doing those fights.
But none of that is new content, so it doesnt change the point that "Endwalker is lacking in content"
We used to get two dungeons every patch, there was a trial series side story along with the MSQ, but endwalker merged the two together objectively trimming out an entire bonus story arc.
@@Nazuiko it lacking content you like not content simple as that
congrats on the move, and owning own place, when you upload i can promise at least ill be here lol but no rush
Thank you!! :)
