Since they have a hard shell, you can use sandpaper to file down a spot on the seed. Try to make it in the same place you see where others have started germinating. Then, keep them in a container of water like you did here, and put that in a warm, dark place. This is how I grow calla lilies, which also have a hard shelled seed.
