Re: new data required. I don’t have a bank book or paper statements. Everything is electronic. And while we don’t have much, it feels intrusive to show our bank balance (on the banking app) to a stranger. How do I know they or a third party won’t sell the data, or if their systems are robust enough to prevent getting hacked?
During my visit to Madrid and Bilbao this week I was surprised to see how much "Black Friday" advertising was all over the place. I thought it was exclusively American. I also think it's important to Spaniards to realize that BF can often be a trap. That $750 television that was $1200 originally, is actually a $750 television and they are just saying it was $1200. Also, there are many products now specially made for BF that seem like a great deal but are actually featureless garbage hastily cobbled together to seem like a bargain. Buyer beware!
What you explain is literally forbidden by law not just for Black Friday, but for any kind of end of season sales or other discount offers, some big supermarket having received a huge fine recently for faking discounts. Consumer protection is much more extensive in the EU. Oh, in Spain you often have a Black Week or Black weekend, not just Black Friday.
@@Xiroi87...I was in Spain during almost all of October this year and there already were reminders on TV and in print that Black Friday events were on the way. In London, mid-Nov., there was intense mention of the upcoming sales. Here in the US, this year, Black Friday began one week early and has now merged into a Cyber Monday week.
Exactly, they had every chance to sort out their status and thought this wasn't going to happen. They were even given free legal advice and a step by step course to become a Spanish citizen. Its their own fault they had to leave, the rest of us have to live by the rules. Well, unless you swing by on a dingy!!
So incredibly poorly thought out. Is there an audit of the systems and networks of every hotel and travel agency to make sure they meet strict cyber security standards (they don't) in Spain that goes along with this decree? If not this is a data breech of epic proportions waiting to happen.
The only new travel details I agree with, is relationship to minor/s travelling with, with full documentation if proof. Due to child trafficking this is very necessary.
I'm thinking on occasion you might get a thumbs down not because they don't like the video, but because they disapprove of the issue. Like today, having to provide 41 pieces of information to book a hotel room.
We travel from Lisbon to Seville pretty often to shop at Costco and Carrefour. We usually book a hotel or airbnb and stay a few days. From now on we'll just stay on the Portugal side of the border in VRSA.
Hi Stu Here in Lanzarote there are lots of unregistered holiday lets. Will this new registration affect them? Always enjoy your meals out and your content
listening today, Monday on catch up. I emailed the hotel we will be staying at over Christmas regarding what information/documentation they required due to the 'new' thing coming in. I received a reply to say only my ID is required. So, maybe some are covering more just in case. We are both resident (hubby and I). Thanks for all your updates and especially the food vlogs.
Hey Stu! Don't worry about those dislikes. Some people don't appreciate good content when they see it. You're the Man! A question for the wider community: Any recommendations for Spanish Christmas films, shows or books? Thanks 😊
Much of the "controversial" travel information is already provided, that said the harder Spain makes it the more some will be put off visiting. Probably the ultimate aim.
Government in the housing sector can only go wrong. Strikes, sub quality housing with very little recourse possible against the government as they're not accountable for their actions, loss of money which will have to be compensated by the tax payers. Displacement of resources from the more productive private sector to the unproductive public sector. State owned means of productions (aka communism) has been tried in numerous countries and it always failed. The last failed attempt was with oil rich Venezuela. Their business is now doing very poorly and the people are poor like they've never been in the past.
Hola! Was out of town to Southern California visiting family, so I missed a week's worth of happenings.. Negativity and playing the blame game is the "flavor of the month" as they say. Say something negative and you're sure to get attention...take a jab at the host is an easy target! Pfft. On another note: I like how you handled the hotel additional paperwork...you want the information that was previously given to you on another form, then you do it! It's your job! More wasted resources from government again...making it look like they're doing something. Madness and insanity!
Evening...black Friday started in Spain In 2012 but only became concrete in 2015. I said to my hubby I'm sure it's been around for longer than 5 years or more. To be honest the majority of items on sale are a con but people fall for it 😢
On rare occasion I’ve hit the thumbs-down button in error, then quickly corrected to thumbs-up. I’m usually watching on the TV via a Firestick between coffee and a bagel and I don’t multitask well. Ja ja ja
From what I understand, it doesn't matter if you like or dislike the video. Like Stu said, it's all interaction, and that is what TH-cam looks at, which helps his algorithm. Next thing Spain is going to want is your first born. Sheesh.
I live in costa del sol. My advice is to *WAIT* The government here are doing all sorts of different weird things, deported loads of Latinos because they want the illegals out for the *new approved refugees from Africa* & *eviction means* more homes for residential people 'like myself' ... Basically my advice is *its all very dodgy* ... Im only here waiting for the property crash to happen, so that i can pick up some bargains. Its all inside jobs so BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR DETAILS. Its not a steady government, if ever it will be 🤷🏼♀️✌🏼🫳🏼🎤
Honestly, what is the reason behind this!? I mean, it's not like Spain isn't desperate for tourist money so why make it harder for people to go there? A far as i can tell, it won't affect me because i stay in hotels so they will do it for me by the looks of it.
HA!! Whenever I hear a Gov’t say things like they’re establishing a Major Public Housing Company, you can bet that’s code for lowest bidder with doggiest materials!! Good luck with that.
Hi Stuart, amazing if you come over on a dingy you don't even need a passport, think a lot of people, not going to be happy. Best wishes mart

Just wait until the first breach happens.

Just stay away, we have a great many visitors.

The reason many people left Spain was they could not live below the radar when Brexit came into being.
Many ? 😂
Over 700,000 illegal immigrants living under the Spanish radar.

Thank goodness they did!

Goes directly to the police system.
So many third countries try to avoid tracking
I do not understand. Tightening visas witj thoudands of illegal immigrants
Exactly. Hilariously backwards 😂
Well, stick to your own beaches
We are lucky enough to be able to buy olive oil direct from our local organic farmers. €32 for 3 litres of the really good stuff.😀
Hi Stuart, was thrilled to see our picture displayed. You did a great job of cropping the photo, it was one of many beautiful sunrises.
The only new travel details I agree with, is relationship to minor/s travelling with, with full documentation if proof. Due to child trafficking this is very necessary.
All that info needs to be kept safe.
"I'm sure that's gonna go well!" HAHA... You made me crack up with that one.

Thanks Stuart for the update

‘I am sure that is going to go well’, - do I detect a small hint of scepticism?

El día de la bestia, an old Spanish film that is hilarious and completely inappropriate. It's related to Xmas, kind of.
@@Xiroi87 Thanks so much! I'll check it out. Have a lovely day :)

Christmas decorations begin on first Saturday nearest 1st of December (helped? by 3 nieces)
That’s a sky that makes a day
Very good 👍
Another stupid idea from the Spanish Government on tourists etc.. Tony cuenca
In the meantime, they are flying in invaders and the borders are wide open. The rules only apply to w people.

Do the new rules on tourist registration apply if you are a Spanish resident, booking into a hotel
You have to do that everywhere in the world. No news
How long can I keep olive oil, I'm often away from Spain for 3 months at a time
Trader Joe’s in Boston started selling Australian olive oil last year!
Which Brand?
I've gotten it at TJ in Los Angeles, Calif. Pretty good.
@pattheslut ...The one I purchased (Santa Monica, L.A.) is the "Red Island" brand, early harvest limited edition, Australian EVOO.
Viva Asturias!
And will this also apply to AirBnB and VRBO ?
Apparently yes. An Airbnb owner commented the other day about such.
3 degrees Ordino, Andorra
All about control !

Desperate for tourist money sounds a bit of a stretch. Most visited country in the world in 2023.
@Xiroi87 over reliant on tourism, 20% of which is from the UK and 13% of GDP overall.
