High quality man/boy activities here. Excellent video. Guys that are into tools just want to play!

Oh man the boys love to get out in the woods and work! The older two have their own hatchets, the youngest one will get his in a few years

I bought a Tormek T4 last week and now seeing your videos about wet stone sharpening. Doing also a lot of other similar stuff! Greetings from Germany :-).

Great, wholesome living. These kids are going to be the ones that grow up, and are hard working, productive members of society. Great parenting, seemingly very rare these days. Good job dad. Kids raised like this, are kids you will be able to trust, unlike so many others in todays ‘society’, sadly. I have a couple Gransfors, and I love mine. I need a couple more to complete my set. I have the large splitting axe, and the wildlife hatchet. I want the large forest axe and the large felling axe and I think I’ll be good to go. Thanks for sharing this adventure brother. Really enjoyed the video. Such a relief to watch this stuff, and get away from the craziness of society for a bit. One reason I stay off is social media 100%. Thanks again brother, God bless you and your beautiful family.

I feel very similarly about saw vs axe. Using a saw is just so tough. I'd rather get tired from swinging the axe.

Absolutely. My should was still burning as I recorded! Saw definitely has a place but mine would be brutal to use with no axe for firewood whereas I’d get along just fine with the axe and no saw

Ohh man this was awesome! Lucky kids to grow up doing this kind of stuff, good on ya Dad👍👍
Fun to get out and swing a bit while camping out. Ive wondered if GB's now-too-thin edges is due to Ben Scott calling them out so much a few years back lol.
Cheers for sharing this one with us, cool to see some stuff out in that beaut Georgia forest. What a spot! 👍👍🪓🪓
    Edit, are you moving?

This is it buddy. Living the dream. I absolutely am bummed you are moving though. Im only like 3hrs away from Ringgold. Thats assuming you are close to that area. So it feels like us Axe guys apart from buckin' are East Coast. Ok time to upload my gba Scandinavian axe with a bevel guage on it today. Look out for it today sometime.

I’ll definitely watch your video! I’m curious if anything is different in how the factory sets them up.
I’m bummed to move too, but I am VERY excited to move out of the Atlanta area. So many people, and I’ve had some wonderful experience here but the next place is so much more suited to the kinds of forestry and lumber things I want to transition to

@urbanlumberjack I just posted a short and community post with a better picture. Yeah, I understand. Believe me, I lived in Riverdale and worked at the Frieghtliner in Forrest Park for over a year until it was too much for me as well. I moved back to my hometown in Northeast Tennessee. I hope the video is somewhat informative for you.

I have 5 GB axes and need to have them profiled to be more durable. I have the same issues with hard knotty hickory in sandy soil. I have an HB almike hatchet with a more durable edge and it has no damage in the same conditions.

That looks like it was a great time outdoors with the family. My GB American Felling Axe came hair shaving sharp but nowhere near 15degrees. Mine is also a few years old so I wonder there have been some changes at GB or did you get a one-off ??

It was such a good time, can’t wait to go back. I definitely think the thin edges are a modern thing. I’ve heard from a ton of people with vintage GBs and the grinds are all what they should be.
Very easy problem to fix! Also I LOVE the axe it’s such a pleasure to use, and the Swedish hangs are the among the best in the industry if not the best. One of the last few that double tapers the eye, and I put a lot of stock in that making a good haft

Just a side note. I don't know about Oklahoma but over here in Arkansas, Ouachita is pronounced wash-it-taw. Love the channel by the way family friendly place.

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll try to remember that in the future. About the channel I absolutely try to keep everything clean, the internet has so few of those places left.

The only reason i tend towards a big knife/hatchet and a saw is simply safety. I'm faily adept at using an axe and have been using one since i was about 12 but if im out in the middle of nowhere camping (especially with my young son) its not worth the potential risk. I love my council tool pack axe tho and if i feel the itch to camp with it it does great.

That’s great, I think more important than what tool you anyone is using is it’s right for them and they are comfortable with it. Great you get out there with your son! It’s not easy but it’s so rewarding

@urbanlumberjack yeah it was a little more stressful than I'd like but now he's getting older it's so much fun. This spring I plan to do a multi-day small game hunting/camping trip with him. Should be great. Blessed to be able to

Sad to see that this happened to your GB :-(.
