      @@lambsstudio I know I'm late (1 year🙄) so I hope you get this. But my question is : I'm suddenly hearing about " measuring " your part's A and B so they're equal. I understood it to be only by volumn versus weighing. They're not the same consistency or weight so how would weighing ounce for ounce work?? I've always marked a cup and pour them both up to the line equally. It's worked for over 2 years that way for me. I don't understand how weighing would work...so confused.
      Thank you for that excellent video.

    • @lambsstudio
      @lambsstudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sue4940 Hey Sue! It's always a great idea to measure by volume - it's recommended by most manufacturers. To measure by weight (on a scale), you can access the density of each part from the Safety Data Sheet that should be provided. That way you can calculate the correct weight, if you wish. Hope this helps!

    I hope you see this. I did my first resin pour. I had to tape the edges and pull tape after the resin set up a little so it wouldn’t run off. When I pulled the tape it took off the base coat of paint primer. Everything else is just about perfect except the spot where the wood is showing under the epoxy. It’s on the edge of a wood table top.

    So, I have only just become aware that epoxy resin, of any sort, is a highly toxic material to work with.
    You have to glove up (which I see you doing here, but your arms are exposed) be in a very well ventilated area, and most importantly you Need to wear a high quality respirator. Not just a dust mask, but a respirator that will filter the gasses of the curing epoxy from your breathing it in.
    Hardly anyone shows themselves doing this, but we have been risking our lives making crafts without knowing it. Please look up the MSDS of your resin. They have to have one. Please protect yourself, and promote the serious need for safety.

      Use wood instead of canvas - resin is thick and heavy and can warp your canvas meaning it can warp the colours too!

    I have got resin that won't set. The hardner was as thin as water. And I had weighed them in equal parts. But even after 2 days it won't set!
    Edit: It's been weeks but it won't set.

    • @lambsstudio
      @lambsstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the weighing is the problem! Part A and B will weigh differently, so they wouldn't be equal parts and the ratio would be off. For 1:1 resin products, it's best to measure using mls.

      @lambsstudio yeah but the seller told me to weigh in equal parts.

    let's say you have measured your resin currently, but your environment is too cold whilst you leave it to set, would it not set at all or would it just take longer to set then usual- what has been your experience with this? (dam Melbourne climate ).

      it would take longer to set! it could also disrupt the properties of the resin.

      Sometimes resin becomes cloudy in cooler weather. Try placing your resin container in a bath of warm water before you start!

    Don't you wear protective mask? Epoxy is very toxic.

      Yes I do! For the purpose of this online course, I didn't wear it. The course has its own, separate section for safety (including wearing a mask).
