♥️
Oh great something to look forward to!!💃🏼💃🏼
Hello Si, what you thought could be a "posey holder" may just be a ladies hatpin holder. Love your channel, as you take us along on all of your fun adventures. Well done. Cheers!!!
Cheers Suzanne! 👍🏻🐾🧡
That's what it is! I had a couple of my Grandmother's with long pins still in them. 😄👍
Agree!
That little crab made that container his wee home. I am so glad you didn’t evict him! Love that T-shirt, you are very good at your day job as well as upcycling your finds! Can’t wait for Part 2. Cheers!
Cheers Mudlover👍🏻🐾🧡
Omg. 8am is so early for a Sunday morning! 😂🤣😂 I’ll try to be here! It’s currently-42°C here 🇨🇦 without the windchill. Hope everyone is staying warm! 🤗
I sure am warm! 32°C here in Brazil 😂
Reached +42 c here yesterday 🥵🍻
Oh you're colder than Colorado! We'll be at -25 with our wind chill today 🥶🥶🥶
Damn I missed the premiere!
And you’re all making me jealous with those plus signs +++ in front of the temperature 😂 Oh well, summer will eventually arrive!
What a lovely heart you have Si. You wouldn't even kill a little crab in that container you found. You are what every man should strive to be. I think that the most important thing you can teach your children is , compassion for all living things. Make each generation better than the one before. Si, you are one cool dude 😎
Ah thanks for that my friend
It was a pepper pot.
Did he get out after u left it if not u might need to brake it to then set him free he might starve so after u can put it back together
Hear hear!
I swear if I ever get enough money I would love to go on an adventure with you sir, I live for this stuff
Yes, on my bucket list as well..
You’d love it mate
I know, right?!!☺️
Same.
☝Idea!
Si's Mud Lover's Tours.
Thank you for the beautiful gift. I absolutely love it! x
It was my pleasure! You can eat your cereal from it 😉
Good to see you out splashing around with Mark!!!
Cheers Deb👍🏻🐾🧡
Mark's crab logic was great.
the pounce pot may also be a hat pin holder. I love it when you go to this site. The only one that beats it is the one where your found the Roman pot..
Great shout👍🏻🐾🧡
Yes, that is what I was going to suggest too. 👍
I love this place!!! So many goodies!!! ❤️ Can’t wait to see what you find next x
Cheers Beth! Part two out next Sunday 👍🏻🐾🧡
Luv watching you from Ontario Canada.🇨🇦
I absolutely love the bottle searches ..keep it going Si. Thank you. ❤
Si, have you ever tried making mosaic art from the glass or pottery you've found? I just started dabbling in mosaic and I really love it!
Hi Lisa. Yes I made a huge bauball for a Christmas tree a year or two ago
There was a house in my village that was covered old broken China,
Some very nice finds, especially Mark's tea cup. Might be a good idea to use a metal detector, as there's bound to be coins, or nice metal artefacts.
Great honey hole for H3. Still miss Steve 😊. Wish you would have taken the German water bottle & painted on it. Love the finds & seeing Nelly!
Nice finds! Regards UK.
Cheers David!👍🏻🐾🧡
Wow!!!😮 that was a great idea to take care of that little piece. Great artist you are!!!😀👍
Cheers Mudlover! 😊👍🏻👣🧡
Thanks for leaving the little guys hidey home behind! I would have done the same!
His little feet done me
Another great video this day. The site was a great resource for the video. Enjoy your week ahead, and see you on the next. Cheers Si! 😊
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Guess we are going to have to buy ourselves a hovercraft, lol, Great vid Si love that T-shirt idea from the sherd 😄
Cheers Dave! Yes they are epic
Wow I think this is going to be a good year for finds for you.. looking forward to watching what you find through out this year. Take care and thank you for bringing us along 👏🙏❤️
Cheers Chris!
marvelous!!! thank you from vancouver island canada
I went to VC a few months ago! Say hi to the bears for me
love the history and stories in the vids!
That shard at 21:42 even though incomplete is still really neat. Thanks for leaving Mr. Clammy in his cottage. Cheers Si.
It’s cool isn’t it! Cheers James 🦀
I'm specifically looking for finials, so that ceramic one would be a top find for me! That "penny perfume" is an Iodine bottle. Northern mudlarks find a fair few! I love printed teacups too. You are finding mega finds today 😯 Now an amazing butterfly transfer bowl! Why would victorians/edwardians discard this stuff!? 😂 The tshirt design is brilliant work too!
Thanks so much Richard👍🏻🐾🧡
Irrawaddy Flotilla Company. In 2018 I was in a Bangkok junk shop where I found a huge brass makers plate from 1908 for a ships engine, made in Denny’s of Dumbarton which is now partly a museum which I delivered to regularly in my day job. It came off a IFC ship, the airport security staff were confused at why I had a paving slab of brass in my luggage.
Great story! Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
15:34 what a beauty!!! But my fave is still that you found Queen Victoria!
Btw here in Germany we use such Glas Spoons for Jam.
Apollinaris is German. They are still producing, about 40km away from me in Bad Neuenahr/Ahrweiler. My Grandmother used to buy that Table Water.
Danke!👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you Simon. What an amazing place to mudlark. You’ll have to get some waterproof gloves. Cheers.
I do have gloves but often take them off to do the filming 👍🏻🐾🧡
Cool shirt! And LOVE the butterfly bowl, Nicola will love it too!
Cheers! Yes she loved it 👍🏻🐾🧡
These are fine finds this round.
At about 4:00 you found a silly cup, with a saying on it.
I have one of those cups,it says “Asye brew sae ye maundrink “!
It’s got a lovely little boat painted on it.
ThatRamawaddy cup is a stellar find!!!
Burma(now known as Myanmar).
Ohh it’s got crazy crazing,I would use this cup every day.
And May I say’Awwww❤️”
For your bowl find for Nicola?
She will certainly appreciate the Papillon design, the butterfly.
Nice job,Simon.
Cheers Charles! We were talking about you today! 😉
Ah,ha! I hope nothing bad,as I can be such a screwball🤣
Also,Simon,I must tell you of a very profound and inspiring moment that happened.
It was 2 years ago,at Christmas time, and you and Nicola found these amazing little waxed wood art pieces amongst the foreshore.
They said things such as”follow your dreams,do what you love”
This blew my mind, and I actually own one.
I cherish it.
I have given her little mini versions of those waxed bottles,if you haven’t seen them, ask her to show you.
You are so very fortunate to have Nicola’s friendship, just a short trip to visit with her!
The thing is,I am literally the world’s worst mudlark,I stink at it!!
I stand in awe of the eyes of the expert mudlarks like yourself, and Nicola and so many others who have bonded with The River.
I hold each and every one of you in the highest regard.
@@charlesperez9976 yeah it was all positive Charles! ☺️ I’ll have to ask her about that!
Hi Si, nice adventure out and about. I saw Nicola ‘s post were you gave her the bowl. Now I see exactly what it is. Very nice of you to give it to her. You two found some cool items out there. See you next time. Joyce❤️🙏🇺🇸
Cheers Joyce! 😊👍🏻👣🧡
GREAT LARK!!!!
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Im not sure if its been said, but i will repeat it. That small poison bottle with " not to be taken" is an Iodine bottle. Hi ho, Si and friend. Loveya fossicking!! 😁👍
Thanks Liz
Hullo Nellie!
I love the shirt design.
Cheers Mudlover! 😊👍🏻👣🧡
I know this is a long comment, but nobody else likes mud larking that I know in my household and hubby passed away so I can’t share it with him anymore, so I’m asking you or if other commenters want to comment that would be great if this is what I was thinking as I was watching the video.
@13:54 The broken pictured plate is a cat looking up the tree getting ready to climb the tree. 😻
I love that you kept the broken ink bottle because when you showed it cleaned up, I just thought what a gem of history you had even though it was broken. The female statue head and the upper part of her body was so beautiful when you cleaned it up!!
I think Nicola is going to be so happy you gave her that sugar bowl/soap bowl that had a strainer for the water (I have one that belongs to a whole set with the bowling pitcher, a soap, dish with strainer and lid, a small little pitcher for getting more hot water and covered trinket dish. It was made in England 175 years ago.) and a lid. Also, it could’ve been used for butter and it had a lid.
I’d go crazy over the pile of bottles you found with the wood bugs (As we call them in Canada.) underneath the big bottle. I love finding little bottles in thrift stores, usually in light to dark green or blue bottles.
Could the item that the crab was in be a hat pin holder or a salt/pepper container? 🤷♀️
The little blue and white pitcher that you found was so beautiful and I would’ve used it as a vase for dried flowers, even though it was broken, it’s still a treasure!!
I absolutely love what you did with the piece of pottery and the outcome be a great T-shirt!! Love it!!👏🏻👏🏻😍😍
Thanks so much for the wonderful comment! Agree with all of that, glad you enjoyed the mudventure x
@@Sifinds Thank you. ☺️
Great video Si 👍👍
Cheers Andy👍🏻🐾🧡
A floating saucer. Better then a flying saucer. Great rubbing yes only an Artist would think of that.😊
Haha. Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
For hat pins ...where the crab had taken up residence.
Crab container also used as a hatpin holder
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Pity the pitcher was left behind. So pretty!
Irrawaddy was famous for horrors on theBurmaRailway in WW2
Don't tip out the water..
😮 Daanngg..Nek Minute..
You've found yourself a vintage hatpin holder....along with your little crab.
Cheers Mudlover! 🐾🧡
They wee cup is really cool. So is the not to be taken bottle.
Cheers Mudlover! 😊👍🏻👣🧡
It's 12* in Ft. Worth Texas right now. I think that's like -11c. Anyway I'm stuck inside. And I'm on an all day binge of SiFinds. Really love your vids. Good luck & Happy hunting, brother.
Ah thanks for watching my treasure hunting friend!
The “pounce Pot” is actually a hat pin holder! I have one shaped just like it!
Awesome thanks
There are so many images I've attempted to clean up, cutting around letters and borders with the mouse. Thinking "there's got to be a better way to do this". At least now I know, since you do this professionally, that it really is just a hell of a lot of elbow grease!😂
Yeah, you can increase the contrast and brightness etc, but sometimes that messes up other areas. Better to just hunker down with your E-paintbrush
Great job with the T Shirt.
Cheers Bev👍🏻🐾🧡
You ask what I would do with the thingy with the crab in it. I'd scream in terror, throw it down and run!😯
Haha!
Could the Belgian bowl be a soap dish? Rather than a pounce pot could it be an Edwardian pot for hat pins?
Yeah good shout Terrie, I thought I was a bit big for hat pins, it just seemed more suited for flowers, the proportions etc
I had a hat pin holder. It was about that size, ditto the holes. Looking forward to Part 2@@Sifinds
Hope you update us on that spoon!
It will probably end up at Slough Fort (see previous museum related video)
That piece with the holes on top could be a hat pin holder
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Lady's hat pin holder!
Cheers Mudlover 👍🏻🐾🧡
Cat scratching the gingko tree i see.
That was a hat pin holder that had the crab in it
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Looking around for the ink bottle company. So far seeing similars on Worthington for auction. Still checking for info on company though.
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hi Si! I've got some pics of what I think is an old onion bottle base i found today, however it is slightly oval in shape and didn't know how to find an ansear to if it is or isn't part of an onion bottle after Google was no help...so I thought I'd give it a crack messaging you to see what you think! It would be great to hear back from you, always watching your TH-cam vids while I eat my tea. Cheers Si! - Daniel
Sorry mate. I have seen the message. Send the pics too
No worries si! I can't send anymore messages until you accept the chat invitation. Thanks si!
London Victorian rubbish is a wonderful treasure hunters paradise
Agreed!
Maybe find the crab another home.
I bet that spoon is UV! Have you tried shining a black light on it to see if it glows?
Not yet but I will
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
@@Sifinds 👏👏👏👏👏🥰😍
The thing with the crab in it is a Victorian hat pin holder.
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
He was almost out. Should have shook it a few more times. I would have put in my bucket and checked it again before leaving.
❤❤❤
Was that a hat pin holder or a powder?? I would have taken it....😅
But then you would’ve have to have knowingly killed or let the crab die 😔
@@Sifinds not at all....if you can get him out and give him another home from all the other options around 🥰
i would have broken open the vessel and let the crab out
What if it enjoyed its house. Then it would be homeless
were you certain that it could get out, that it wasn't already too big for the vessel? that's what i am concerned about. still, i wasn't there, my perspective is the size of my phone screen; i can't imagine that you would leave it if it can't get out because you are an animal lover. i do love your work, by the way!
@@harridan. it’s fine. I called David Attenborough and he said to leave him be. Apparently the crabs name is Eugene and is pals with a sponge, so that’s nice
That’s a hat pin holder, not an ink powder shaker.
I said I was 'thinking' of a pounce pot, just to give people context, I agree on Hat pin holder though
Do a giveaway on some of the glass bottles
Stay tuned. Maybe i will
How do you manage to legally sell your finds, I've looked and all I see is that you can get a permit but you can't sell anything you find or does that only apply to the City Foreshore ?
Without a permit your not allowed to take anything away, again is that only a PLA thing ?
I'd personally love you to do a Q&A on frequently asked questions, maybe with Nicola.
Yes the PLA is solely the Thames
How do you clean your bottles Si 👍🇦🇺
Elbow grease and limescale removing bleach
Was the cup made in Burslem....????
Let me check
Thanks for thinking of us Americans when pronouncing 'Lev-ER' as opposed to 'Lee-vah' haha!
Haha! My pleasure Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
the only thing Google offered me was Jacques Herbin, which indeed is related to inks, and indeed very old (1789 started making inks, had been on doing wax for seals since 1670 in France).
if he is related to this H.J.H. i dont know. either a history or an ink nerd must help with that🤣
"oh, is not perfume, it's poison" sir...SIR XDDD
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Yes would be quite the mistake to dab oneself with poison 😂
Siete dei matti😂
Why? 😂
No mi sono molto divertito ma qua in Italia nessuno potrebbe usare quel mezzo
Hi Si! I was with you and Nic when we went for a weekend to an airfield in Cornwall...I'm 'bob Knight. Anyway, I come from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, originally and that is where H.J. Heinz company was founded. HJH may very well mean the HJH Heinz company. I don't know if they were making ink in the 1905s, when they first came to England, but they do make ink now for tattooing. Maybe that can help??
Hi Bob! Yes I remember you. That’s very interesting thanks I’ll take a look into that! 👍🏻🐾🧡
🧡🖤🧡🖤
Cheers Mudlover! 😊👍🏻👣🧡
No roundup?
Part two coming next week Amy 👍🏻🐾🧡
Great! Looking forward to it, Si. ❤️
Always great to wake up on a Monday morning and see some mud adventures! Love all the finds. My Dad served in Burma in WW2. The find made me think of him. 😊
Aw how sweet 👍🏻🐾🧡
Outstanding episode: History, beauty, mud and muck, great clean-ups, cat, kindness to animals, cool products to purchase.
Cheers Jay! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Every time I watch your mud adventures I get a little bit jealous 🤷♀️. You recover some cracking (“pardon the pun”) finds. Those 3 Poisons were beauties. The Hovercraft looks fun 👏😎🍀💜
Cheers Bob👍🏻🐾🧡
Love your finds.
I believe that finial is for a ceramic apothecary jar. A local pharmacist in my area collected old apothecary jars and he had a couple ceramic jars with similar lids.
And that glass spoon could have been used for marmalade or caviar because they don't react to glass.
Great suggestions. Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Never seen such a large pottery bottle! Nice! That is a good “honey hole” y’all have there to continually hunt at. Hopefully, it will keep surprising you with all its treasures! ✌🏼❤️
Cheers Lisa!
The crabs parents had to shell out to live there , he’s been there since he was a little nipper 🥹🍻
Haha! He refused to move out, he was very shellfish 🦀
The clip you showed of the top of the ceramic pretty lady set on-top of the ink bottle, looked amazing to my artists brain!
Have you created anything like that previously that I've missed? Or is that an idea for a future piece? I'd love to see that juxtaposition finalized into an art piece!
Love the content Si! I've binge watched a ton - but it's on my husband's account as that's the one connected to our TV haha. Much love from Canada!
Thanks so much for watching! That lady on the inky wasn’t done for any other reason that to get a good clip of her on the turntable. I do have more artwork coming next Sunday!
My friend, you are back to your super active days . Really enjoyed watching the lovely video. I enjoyed your editing and the t shirt 👕. And the history of the cup .
I just returned from. MADHYA PRADESH ( INDIA) . Got a cup with the MPT logo ( Madhya Pradesh Tourism) .

Happy New Year Simon. glad to see you back!
Cheers. See you next Sunday👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks Si - love your hovercraft adventures with Mark!
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Your vids are fascinating as always. What blows me away mate is your artistic eye and ability to find a small artifact you then visualise and transform into a wonderful work of modern art. Pleased the crab lived for another day too.

'The cup that cheers' is a temperance movement slogan, usually referring to tea. 'The cup that cheers but does not inebriate.'
Ah that’s interesting. Cheers!!!
@@Sifinds..my grandma (moms mom)was president of the women's christian temperance union in Ohio, back in the day. I vaguely remember her sternly being upset about us kids using the beer case to stand on to wash dishes at home. Now I realize she probably gave my mom a raft ofs#!t out if our hearing. Not much she could do to mom in her own home. Dad was smug.
Great adventure and some lovely treasures. The shirt you designed is ace. We are stuck inside today in my little piece of western Washington state. It's only 19 degrees Fahrenheit/ -7 Celsius and not supposed to get any warmer than 34 Fahrenheit/ 1 Celsius. That's 10 degrees warmer Fahrenheit/5 Celsius than yesterday. Plus it laundry day, so tidying up the house and laundry today. Thanks for the video. Always a good way to start a Sunday. 🙂
Cheers Beth! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Love your videos ❤
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures 😊
😊
Cheers Donna👍🏻🐾🧡
What a great lark! Loved the poem and your tshirt. It really turned out well. I'm sure Nicola loved her bowl.
Cheers Mudlover! 😊👍🏻👣🧡
Hi everyone
Chris from Germany Awesome adventre Thanks
I bet the crab would have come home with you if it was in that stone ginger beer if it had been complete 😇
That would be shellfish of me
Blimey M8 I can't remember half the stuff we find , Fantastic video Baby Shark is ready
Cheers Mark! Can’t wait for the next one!
