Do you know why most bedroom doors are hollow core? Because these doors are the cheapest ones available. And probably if you have to go and buy a door to replace a damaged door, you will probably buy another hollow core door. So let’s be real honest about this point. Solid core doors are nearly always an MDF core. Solid wood core doors are only installed in very high end homes that the original owner would have specified such doors, and paid a premium price for that upgrade.
You can replace your doors. I did, because hollow core doors really look cheap. No door is going to keep someone out forever, but a more robust door would slow someone down. @olebrumme6356
@bigk4755 And your point is actually what, in reference to this video? One might have colonist hollow core throughout the entire home, but could install a solid wood colonist door, such as an alder or oak on their bedroom. Even his video showed, the door frame can fail, but you’re trying to buy time. Security isn’t free, and one can make simple choices to their home that are not going to break the bank.
If I were kicking or using a battering ram, I'd be hitting the door knob side of the door to apply more pressure to the jam, not the centre of the door. As others have said, internal doors are usually hollow core and have little or no strength. You might as well just put a chair under the door knob.
Good idea to get 4" screws and secure the frame to the house as you are installing this. Also, replace hollow-core interior doors with solid core for "safe rooms" inside. I think this would be a good deterrent to slowing them from easy entry, but obviously, if someone really wanted in, the next vulnerable place is the windows. Alarm systems and/or dogs would be good next layers of defense.
You tested it on a exterior metal door. Try the test again on a thinner interior hollow core door, and strike it below or above the Doorricade. You'll punch through like it's cardboard. This is a very misleading test, which will give people a false sense of security. You should've mentioned that your bedroom door should at least be a solid core door, and preferably metal.
As a professional builder, I know the skills to open this door. But I won't talk about that. However, I can give a good recommendation for installing the door frame based on what I saw in the video. In addition to the polyurethane foam and bolt fastening, it must be filled with adhesive sealant up to 1 inch. The tensile strength of the door frame increases dozens of times.
You don’t hit the middle of the door. You attack the jam at the lock and hinges. I’d be through that door in no time. Don’t trust your life with this. When testing these types of products , you should let the SWAT team do the test. I guarantee this will be breached.
Remember guys. Given enough time anything can be broken in to. What you are trying to do is give yourself sometime to either call for help or arm yourself and by adding another layer of resistance make it even more difficult for an intruder to have to endure. Thats all these things are. They are great at adding extra levels of deterance but dont ever be fooled that this or any other layer of security is definetly not gonna let someone in or have a theif break into something.
Yeeeees, this was called LA TRANCA at the house of my grandma here in Colombia 60 years ago, 2 metal angles and a piece of hardwood, it did the job the past century.

That said, hydraulic rabbit tool, breaching shotgun, or explosive breach would make quick work of it. Still, I'm interested in buying. Shit like this really does work. As do the extended strikeplates for deadbolts to go into.
I suggest that the foam rubber on the barricade helps to deflect the force of impact which helps to lesson damage to the door, deflecting the force of the ramming.

So... This is mounted to a doorframe... in an American house made of cardboard and high hopes, which (before the hate comes) you proved to be right by dislodging the doorframe with just a few hits with a ram. Realisically speaking, it's not a safe room, more like "gives you enough time to grab a shotgun if you keep it under your bed" room. All good points from the replies, nothing going to stop entry on week internal doors . If you are that worried, reinforce your front door and windows ,it will make them cop proof has well.
With a bit of engineering know-how, you could probably design something to make that possible. But realistically, if someone is willing to try and use a battering ram to break in, they would also likely just enter through a window which is obviously much easier. So this would have no practical effect if you were on vacation.
Had you struck the door near the door knob, it would’ve failed a lot sooner. Also, the fact that you were a CIA Officer, adds zero credibility to your endorsement. There are better ways to harden your door.
Definitely need to do my part for security, but sometimes, it does make me worry a bit that I might be too secured that it'll slow down people coming to my aid (cops, family, first responders...etc) 😬
For those commenting in certain setups things like this may just slow them down, so what ? That's better than the door blowing open with one kick as you're sleeping and you have a split second to orient and figure out what to do or arm yourself . A few seconds or more can save your life . Most the time its going to be some dude using his legs or shoulder .
3" #8 screws in the hinges, and striker plates will literally do the exact same thing and only cost $3. I did this back in the day at my apartment. I came home to a cracked and damaged door. Every other apartment had been broken into except mine. The door needed to be replaced but they never made it in. You could tell from the damage they were kicking the doors in. They gave up on mine after many kicks. 3" screws reach through the weak trim and into the studs in the wall making it SIGNIFICANTLY stronger.

I think a mandatory addition is a hole drilled in near either end. Then mount the bar beside the door with a bolt theough the hole that allows the bar to pivot up and down like a railroad crossing gate. Have a small holding bracket that allows the bar to lean away from the door about 10 degrees. This will allow anyone to just immediately slap the bar down into place, instead of fumbling around trying to find it, especially in the dark or while being chased. The pivot bolt doesn't need to be kick proof because the included device brackets are what provides the strength.
Most people don’t use a steel door and presumably insulated door as an inside bedroom door. Most inside doors are hollow core. The door you used was metal and had a deadbolt lock.

5:06 you were successful getting in there with a little more work, albiet it was the framing that gave way But the device is only as good as the frame is strong. Possibly adding some bolt through plates to the frame would help
Door club is better. Drill into floor, insert base, door club fits inside base and stops entry. No exposed parts to cut someone if they walk into them like the ones in this video. You should install 3" screws into hinges and jamb plates as normal security. And a security combo-jamb covers handset and deadbolt. Uses 10 screws to install the combo plate.
You're showing 2 different doors ?? Watch at 3:34, the door he's hitting has a deadbolt, but then when they show the other side of the door, no deadbolt 😂😂
Two different t doors, one has a simple silver door handle th either has gold door handles and a dead lock. Also kick/hit the door near the lock, not in the middle. Near the end it would only have taken one or two more hits for the entire door to cave in.
As people already said "a much stronger door" and 3 of these (one on top one in the middle and one at the bottom) would be more useful. A metal door frame would be perfect.
alot of people dont realize but screws have a very low tenstile strength so putting some long spike nails into the frame itself would be helpful, might look a little unsightly when the door is open but safety is key here.....
What's to stop a thief drilling out a hole and make it big enough for them to use one of them metal saws that jeweller's use that can cut through metal and be able to enter the house or treasure room.
The chain is only as strong as the weakest link. Door frame is the weakest link. Also you did hit it correctly with the battering ram. You are supposed to hit just beside the deadbolt. You lose 75% of your power by hitting in the center of the door because it's hinged on side opposite the deadbolt. Still a nice product, but you an do this yourself with a pair of towel hooks and a solid rod. (I did exactly that many years ago, and it works great and dirt cheap.)
Caution - Dooracade does not work for doors with panels, hollow-core or foam-core doors. It will also not help with exterior doors with large glass features. Most interior doors aren't security doors, and can easily have a hole punched through them with a hammer or axe. Also, put long screws into the brackets to anchor them into the 2X4 frame around the door, not just the door frame. The same goes for the hinge screws - usually 2 inch screws work best. If you put the same larger screws in your strike plate, you may not even need the Dooracade...
Most composite doors now break when hit by any battering ram youd need to potentially fit three of these bars to make any difference.. also i noted you used a crow bar but didn't use the crow bar like it would normally be used .. as a jemmy which im sure would of bust the door 🚪 if they used the gap made .. this item is only good for reinforced doors external or internal otherwise it is pointless

The fastening brackets need to run the full length of the doorframe with multiple fastening positions and multiple brackets to place the bar in any position or multiple bars
It looks like a handy bit of kit, but 2 cheap brackets and a piece of 3x2 would probably do just as well. But these days a lot of people turn-up with a portable angle-grinder...
You’re striking the middle of the door, where it equally distibutes the impact over both anchors. I was taught to kick a door by the lock, which even if the lock is already compromised will center the impact on one anchor, not both, effectively doubling the power of the kick, or tool being used.
Most bedroom doors are hollow core. The item will slow down entry, but hollow core doors are quickly destroyed.
Was about to say, you can literally punch through those. This won't do anything to stop people.

Wrecks his own door for the sake of the commercial.
I can't go out my front door because of the doorcade, very inconvenient. So I go out my back door which is vulnerable because no doorcade. 😂
I replaced my interior door with a solid core nothing with burglar proof but I want to add as many obstacle to deter them as I can
You are kicking and hammering in the middle.Test it on the door handle/knob.
Just 1 question, fitted to your main front door, HOW DO YOU GET OUT ?
You're showing 2 different doors ?? Watch at 3:34, the door he's hitting has a deadbolt, but then when they show the other side of the door, no deadbolt 😂😂
My door barricade is a short barreled 12 ga. Say hello to my little friend!
Two different t doors, one has a simple silver door handle th either has gold door handles and a dead lock. Also kick/hit the door near the lock, not in the middle. Near the end it would only have taken one or two more hits for the entire door to cave in.
The Doorricade couples well with the Family Bazooka.
Could use a broomstick to brace it at an angle and perhaps a door wedge as well . And finally drag the sofa up against the door
...IF your door is a fire door.
All doors are fire doors.
@@cypeman8037 wrong, fire door have to hold fire back for one hour.
@@cypeman8037if you don't know shit about the subject don't comment
As people already said "a much stronger door" and 3 of these (one on top one in the middle and one at the bottom) would be more useful. A metal door frame would be perfect.
Invest in a commercial steel door with double deadbolt. Oh and don’t forget the windows 😂
will the doorcade help if i have a door with glass on the top half.
Yeah this device should keep the Fire Brigade out
alot of people dont realize but screws have a very low tenstile strength so putting some long spike nails into the frame itself would be helpful, might look a little unsightly when the door is open but safety is key here.....
"How to stop them from breaking in your door!"
**Burglar calmly and confidently proceeds to the glass door** 1:08
Battering ram coming at one side of the door but don't worry the other side will not be scratched by your our foam padding
Good demo. I guess you could double the effort. One upper and one lower for real secure fit.
What's to stop a thief drilling out a hole and make it big enough for them to use one of them metal saws that jeweller's use that can cut through metal and be able to enter the house or treasure room.
What about the window next to the door?
The chain is only as strong as the weakest link. Door frame is the weakest link. Also you did hit it correctly with the battering ram. You are supposed to hit just beside the deadbolt. You lose 75% of your power by hitting in the center of the door because it's hinged on side opposite the deadbolt. Still a nice product, but you an do this yourself with a pair of towel hooks and a solid rod. (I did exactly that many years ago, and it works great and dirt cheap.)
All of my entry exit doors are Fire doors, metal core.
Katie, bar the door!
Most composite doors now break when hit by any battering ram youd need to potentially fit three of these bars to make any difference.. also i noted you used a crow bar but didn't use the crow bar like it would normally be used .. as a jemmy which im sure would of bust the door 🚪 if they used the gap made .. this item is only good for reinforced doors external or internal otherwise it is pointless
the wall strength, quality matters as well..and the screws used to install.. short screws..will "screw ya"
thank you
Jason, you should learn to use the leval bubble on your drill driver drill ,you were way too high in the back and could strip out the heads of your screws !😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The fastening brackets need to run the full length of the doorframe with multiple fastening positions and multiple brackets to place the bar in any position or multiple bars
Well, be besides that bar behind the door, you also show demonstrate that people need to also reinforce their door frame as well
OK I'm gonna go through any of the windows in the house .
