Hi ! What a wonderful song, wonderful melody and so beautiful singer ! 😋😊 Irish/Celtic traditional music is always so transcendent... Thank you much Patty, amazing work, as usual ! 😃 and, yep, one thing : ALIVE ALIVE OH! 🎄 Happy holidays and a wonderful year to you! 🍀
I feel like the reason this song has held on so long, and why it has such strong emotion tied to it, is because it gives the feeling that even the most seemingly insignificant person can have their absence deeply felt by people around them. Even just a street-seller that you hear shouting every day can leave a noticeable gap in your life when they're gone.
hey Patty, this is a brilliant cover of our famous Irish girl. 25 years ago (you might not even have been born then.) my father was manager of a small recording company, based here in Dublin. they dealt with traditional folk music and I'm sure they would have snapped you up then. after the company closed, my father retired, and a few years back was diagnosed with Lewy body's dementia. when I last seen him he didn't remember who I was but could remember the song I played for him, (over the hills and far away.) which was one of your songs. I was planning to play this for when I got to see him next, but a month after this video he sadly lost his fight for life, due to this covid and his condition. however, when I listen to your songs, I can still see that enjoyment in his face and it lets me know that he is now free from his pains and still watching over our family. so a big thank you from me to you. keep singing and bringing joy to all.
