    Awesome Video. Mixing it with and even outperforming much more expensive off roaders was awesome to see. The Cannons have been copping a lot of negative opinions but clearly that’s all they are.. opinions from people who have never actually owned one. Your videos proves that the GWM Cannon is a very capable Ute and is amazing value. Looking forward to more Videos. Cheers 🍻

    These are about the most luxurious ute you can sit your body in, but there is bugga all footage of them being utilised off road, so I thank you for posting your use, especially K'gari.
    I watch a lot of journalists reviews & most don't rate them well off-road. In comments all owners complain the cross country mode should have been used.
    I pointed this out in a comment recently to a journalist whom consistently rates it poorly, stating he doesn't utilise the cross country feature. He came back to say it would make no difference, but he'd be willing to test again utilising the feature. I'm so looking forward to that review when it happens to see if there is a real benefit of the cross country feature. Hope he has to admit it's better than he thought it would be.
    The feature has to make a difference, locks the central diff for starters apparently, sending 50-50 drive front rear axles without split drive loss of open diff.
    Continue to enjoy your GWM buddie.

      @trickster8635 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The journalists you speak of are not very experienced in true off-road driving, most spend 99% test time on road and easy gravel, secondary country roads.
      Very few will give you a true assessment of low-range gearing, wheel articulation, departure and approach angles, vulnerable under body points, fuel capacity and range, ability to add extra fuel tanks, suspension lifts and all the other after-market accessories that protect the vehicle off-road, which are lacking in this vehicle that has yet to penetrate the market. Cape York is not the place to discover, that you really should have spent the extra and bought a proven product.

    • @ianweal3081
      @ianweal3081 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@trickster8635 I agree about the journalist in general, but this guy was testing all current utes on a very steep incline, he was adamant that because the ford raptor failed initially, then with all bells and whistles engaged it made it, goes on to state everything else will struggle.
      Ford Wildtrak, straight up,
      Ram, straight up first time,
      Chev, straight up first time,
      Jeep Gladiator up first time,
      Ssangyong Musso up first time,
      Triton up first time,
      D-Max failed,
      BT-50 failed,
      Cannon, failed.
      Even though Jeep went up first time, for the fun of it he engaged all the bells & whistles just cause he can and continues to play in it.
      Then goes on to claim D-Max, BT-50 & Cannon are not fit for purpose.
      Well, in a Cannon X one must have Cross Country mode activated or else you have an open centre diff. Why when you engage all the bells & whistles of the Raptor (required) Jeep (just for the hell of it) would you not activate Cross Country mode?
      Conclusion, owners of the Cannon find them very capable if Cross Country mode is activated.
      Many so called rated vehicles don't survive the cape also.
      Know that other Cannons have been to Cape and successfully returned.
      Bit of an underated truck I suspect.

    Your not the only one experiencing the rubbish dealer support. I’ve had nothing but problems with mine over the last two years and like you said they don’t know what’s going on. My most series problem is a clunk in 4low. Like it engages and disengages under loading and unloading. They’ve had my car for weeks and weeks finally admitting there is a problem, changing the transfer case oil with no fix and then finally GWM authorised a transfer case replacement only to cancel the dealers order within 2 days trying to say it is normal operation. This is absolute garbage. I’m taking them to any government authority who will assist with this. I’m totally fed up with this rubbish. This Bullshit Chinese company has to be held accountable

    • @Alans-channel
      @Alans-channel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep the problem is not really the car it's the company behind it. Selling selling selling..... by the way if the clunk is whilst turning in 4l on solid ground it is normal it's the clutch in the trasfercase ( 4wd on demand...) releasing "too" much pressure of the drive train. I had that too but got a good explanation from someone who knows a lot about that system from a different (not Chinese) brand.since that I don't worry too much about it ...only use it when really necessary. 1 gear + cross country mode is low enough for most situations. Hope that helps mate

    • @gonyg5316
      @gonyg5316 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Alans-channel definitely not normal and the TOD does not function when in 4low. The entire driveline is locked besides the front diff because it doesn’t have a locker. I’m a mechanic with plenty of experience in the 4x4 industry and this is the exact same Borg Warner transfer case that had this issue when it was used in the previous model Ford Ranger. The ZF auto is awesome but the transfer has issues. This company basically just raped a shit load of other cars parts they could get their hands on to build a car. They know that there is a problem as in the new Cannon XSR they have opted for a different 4x4 system as well as a front locker. I know what you are talking about and yes it can happen in other models but this clunk is so loaded it actually shudders the entire drive line. Very similar severity that the patrols experience when the transfer case chain has stretched and skips on the square edged sprockets that connect front to rear when locked.

    • @Alans-channel
      @Alans-channel  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This cars have some issues others don't have. Considering the price you think you can live with it yeah, but it all ends with the service you don't need 7 years warranty when your dealer won't care about you after not even two years. Heard that a lot around the community and finally I'm in that position. GWM Australia doesn't answer mails, the dealer don't want to deal with problems or pretend every thing is fine..... And so on.it's just a pain in the bud. The worst thing is they are lying. They pretend to do things (important service ) and obviously haven't done a thing. ....

    I think this is a nice car. Its cheaper compared to the hilux, raptor and other pick ups out there but what you don't get is nice aftersales. In the Philippines GWM just started rolling out their casa. I tried buying this pick up but they were too late. They only got back to me when I got approved for another car I was trying to buy from another dealership. The salesman were lazy. Tsk tsk.. unlike the more established japanese models I think GWM should work on their aftersales.

    I own a Cannon X with 30000kms. I have always been a supporter of the brand until now.
    I went to the dealer Autostrada in Western Australia, for a service and had them look at a minor warranty issue for a delaminating park brake button, along with recalling for the headrests to be replaced. This work was booked in over a month prior to the service date.
    It’s been over a year and when going to book my 30000kms service I enquired again as the the park brake and it turn out that even though the dealer told me it was warranty and would be replaced they had not even ordered the part and not submitted a warranty claim to GWM/HAVAL. Not only this they did not replace the recall item on the headrests. When I approached GWM/HAVAL HQ I was told it’s my problem and they have nothing to do with it. So basically, your on your own.
    Ok so you might think this is a dealer/service department issue but can you imagine if this was a larger warranty issue and this was the support you expect to receive. I was going to look at a new vehicle next year and I can be sure GWM/HAVAL are off the list. Warranty support is critical to me and this seals the deal. Thanks for no support GWM/HAVAL, if warranty is important to you seriously consider other brands, as GWM/HAVAL do not provide customer support.

      Yeah heard this and experienced it too, but it's no different with some other brands. But yeah you really have to be very penetrant on the phone to get something moving.
