Every one knows Rafael tender process, one strategy is to choke by loading HAL with licence based making assembler which is nothing but assembly with imported kits, This process stops HAL making indigenous jets, lack of understanding difference between tender based bear body man roaming on the road and full ornaments bride in the maariage function hall. What are we doing with Sukhio 272 fighter jets made by HAL each jet costing 1000 cr without weapons, sukhio availability is 50% only which means if you have 300 sukhio jets, only 150 can be used and rest would need to be grounded for maintenance for the next fly. HAL is always struggling to integrate weapons with any foreign fighter jets, I think HAL shloud do only tejas and opt out foreign assembly which is not use of learning curve. Of course We finally integrated brahmos with SU30MKI with the help of Russia and Russia does not give software code access to HAL and HAL always need go back to Russians for integration of weapons. And it requires software upgrade for all the fighter jets. This upgrdation requires huge amount of money to pay to Russians. Whereas Pakistan has software code access to their JF17 thunder and in fact 42% of it was developed by Pakistan and rest was developed by China. Where as Tejas is capable of carrying brahmos since it is equipped with American GE engine both Americans and Russians will object integration of brahmos with Tejas. To my opinion, Tejas is limited to Astra missile and drop tanks. More Rafaels to be inducted and that provides East of production of tejas by HAL and fulfilling the gap of Tejas mk2 production. France agreed to integrate Meteor missile if tejas is equipped with Uttam Radar but denied with Isreal radar. Uttam Radar is upcoming from DRDO.

I have seen some of the videos of Mr. Sulibele. He makes some valid points. However, as far as Rafale deal is concerned, he fails to mention one key mistake made by the current NDA government. Sure, India needs to develop aircraft manufacturing capabilities and HAL should not be a sole monopoly. The current government might have been trying to bring in private industries to the picture which is fine. However, when awarding contracts, it should have invited competitive bidding for the contract work and let Rafale make the decision of selecting the right sub-contractor/s. The government should not have interfered in anyway in awarding those smaller sub-contract work and this process should have been completely transparent knowing fully well that previous defense deals New Delhi had with foreign players had issues. Congress party has no an ammunition against NDA on this point.

Where as Tejas is capable of carrying brahmos since it is equipped with American GE engine both Americans and Russians will object integration of brahmos with Tejas. To my opinion, Tejas is limited to Astra missile and drop tanks. More Rafaels to be inducted and that provides East of production of tejas by HAL and fulfilling the gap of Tejas mk2 production. France agreed to integrate Meteor missile if tejas is equipped with Uttam Radar but denied with Isreal radar. Uttam Radar is upcoming from DRDO.

I have seen some of the videos of Mr. Sulibele. He makes some valid points. However, as far as Rafale deal is concerned, he fails to mention one key mistake made by the current NDA government. Sure, India needs to develop aircraft manufacturing capabilities and HAL should not be a sole monopoly. The current government might have been trying to bring in private industries to the picture which is fine. However, when awarding contracts, it should have invited competitive bidding for the contract work and let Rafale make the decision of selecting the right sub-contractor/s. The government should not have interfered in anyway in awarding those smaller sub-contract work and this process should have been completely transparent knowing fully well that previous defense deals New Delhi had with foreign players had issues. Congress party has no an ammunition against NDA on this point.
