You already know that I'm a huge fan of your scrapbooking layouts. Now watching you create this little beauty has inspired me to give it a go. I've never done anything like this but I will give it a shot. Thank you so much for once again sharing your creativity with all of us.
There were a couple of comments about the book tearing, ....just letting you know that I respect books and LOVE to read. The old book paper I use in my crafting are discarded old books that I find in thrift shops for pennies (usually already in very bad shape)....just doing a little recycling here :)
think of it like this. there are several books out there that contain the same printed word... there is only one amazing canvas that you created with that word and made it something amazing. and that coming from a crazy book lover lol!!
+Gabrielle Pollacco I'm a book lover too, but if a book is yours, you can do what you like with it. It's just paper. Might be different if it was a rare edition!
I have never watched mixed media videos, until I stopped to watch yours. I love it. You are fascinating to watch, so talented. Thank you so much for sharing.
I used to follow your work on two peas, but when it went away, I lost track of you until recently when I went on you tube! You are still amazing and one of my favorite scrapping/mixed media artists! I love your work and admire your talent! I imagine being able to do work like you do, but as I watch your tutorials, it's like seeing VanGough paint and then thinking you can do it! We can always dream! Keep on creating things that make dreamers like me dream!! You do amazing work!
and just to let all of you know...I used to work in a library for many years, and the reason that we have monthly book sales is because we NEED to get rid of the older books. There isn't room in the libraries to hold onto all of these books. So what Gabrielle did was beautiful. She did absolutely nothing wrong. She made ART out of some pages from old books. It sure is better than burning them which is what we have to do if they are not sold!!
You are most welcome. I only stated the truth! I hate it when people don't know the facts and then are so ugly. Its just not nice! LoL Okay, I'm done!! Very pretty picture BTW.
I must say that up to now I had been watching many mixed media canvas tutorials and shares, just to see if I could get the hang of it and make sense of it. To me the first part of the work, when the project was being started was beautiful only to see it all messed up and completely covered with gesso , texture paste and a bunch of color mists that made the whole thing lose it's original beauty and definition ( according to me of course).....and then I come across YOUR work and I LOVE IT!!!! You distress, you paint over but don't overdo it, but enhance it and define the whole thing with beauty. You make every detail stand out in a different way, so it's not just a bunch of pretty objects covered up and painted over. Every one of your objects in this project stands out by itself, especially the dress, and the rest complements it making it stand out more. I am going to try to make something like this, following your technique. Thank you for restoring my faith in mixed media art.... I thought it was lost. LOVE YOU WORK and OF COURSE SUBSCRIBED!!!!
Beautifully illustrated; just the right video speed, perfect captions, clearly showed the products used, and with an end result that is stunning and inspirational. I love the 3D accents and how you embellished them. Ow, I can't wait to get started, I feel the urge to unleash my creativity. Thank you Gabrielle :)
Oh goodness gracious, Gabrielle you are an arteest!!! You create such beautiful works of art and beauty... I am in awe of your talent. You just place everything so perfectly and with such ease.! It would take me 3 days to figure out where to put things! And you pay such attention to detail. Now I'm gonna sit here for hours watching your videos. lol Thanks so much for sharing.
Beautiful Gabrielle, I just love your work and I have also made a few that you did, but they did not turn out as well as yours, and I just love this one so I am going to do it today and hopefully it will also be good... keep up the beautiful work I look forward to your little tutorials, you are keeping a 70 year old very busy with your lovely works Thank You
thank you for sharing your work and allowing us to see it! You are amazing and talented and a joy to watch:-) You had me fooled, I thought the dress was real material at first!
Now that's just raw talent! Absolutely loved it. We sometimes forget that we really don't need complicated die cutting machines just scissors! Thank you.
you know what the best thing about watching your fantastic videos is I smile everytime you use some new techniques in your art! my mother thinks m watching some romantic scene as she sees me smiling this way!! thanks a million! :)
Maravilloso, como todo lo que haces. Mira que no me gustan los vídeos largos, pero estaría horas viendo los tuyos. Tienes un talento increíble. Saludos desde Valencia (España)
I sooo enjoyed every bit of your video. I especially love how you made the entire dress and hanger from paper and wire. AWESOME!!! I don't think it's cool at all, to make someone feel guilty for using OLD books to make Beautiful Art!!! I do the same thing and so do many others I'm sure...it's burn the old books..or make Beautiful ART!! I choose ART everytime!! I am definitely inspired to apply much of what I learned in your video in my next altered canvas project. So, thank you so very much for sharing and for the inspiration!! Simply STUNNING work!! Peace Taylor:)
Love all of your videos. You do a great job with the info tags gliding in and your music is so soothing. Love that you don't talk throughout. Other videos are so slow, I don't have the patience to sit thru them. Your pace is perfect. Thank you..!!
What a super adorable canvas! I think I may have to try something similar although I'm fairly new to mixed media. I love it though! So much fun to create beautiful art with all the supplies I've built up and never used over the last 15 years of scrapbooking and card making. Can't wait to see more videos of yours. Beautiful work!
I absolutely love this. I love that you use things that can be made if you do not have all of the supplies. Also, I'm so glad that I've saved bubble wrap. I would have never thought of that for a highlighting/pattern effect. Another amazing tool if you don't have the stencil supplies. I love your videos and have found them both helpful and inspirational for future projects. TFS!!! So glad I found your channel! ♡
Hi Gabrielle, I also use books from thrift stores and feel a little quilty tearing them up but then think that they are being recycled and made into art. Being enjoyed much more than in the dump. I was into this when it was not popular, lol.
Just keep looking, some will pop up when you least expect it. That is how I find my favorite finds. I just keep going into the little thrift stores and the big ones. Some days nothing then WOW. I wish you luck with your treasures.
Kawthertaqi, I mention the papers and adhesives in the captions in the video....the paper are from Maja Design (a Swedish manufacturer, but there are many online stores in the USA that carry them, one is called The Scrapbook Diaries)....the adhesive is my own home made version of mod podge (equal parts white school glue and water) The adhesive I used to apply embellishments was Arlene's Craft glue :)
Gabrielle Pollacco I have lots of actual antique sheet music. I had cut up some and made xmas ornaments and putting it inside the clear bulbs and sold them at a craft show. My husband asked wth I was destroying the antique sheet music for. But every customer who bought one had a musician or pianist in the family and bought it as a gift. I told my husband. Now you see why. Also, You'll never please everyone so do what makes you happy. Especially the internet people.
This is absolutely creative, stunning, ready for the ball! There is so much elegance and detail. Wonderful. This is an heirloom piece. It made me feel happy
This is absolutely beautiful!! Thank you very much for sharing. It really is a shame that some people feel the need to try to tear down a persons work. This is a true sign of inorance. I know I am speaking for many, many crafters...we appreciate you and your talent! We especially appreciate your willingness to share it with us.
Absolutely beautiful art! I love mixed media and am always fascinated by the imagination of the artists! You are awesome! I absolutely love this piece!
I love this piece! It fills a certain spot in my heart - just to look at it! And I love to use old, tattered books in my creations as well. Thank you for sharing ^_^.
Wonderful work, I love how you gather the paper, new technique and find it is much easier. Yes, I use old book pages, and honestly if we didn't use them they would get burned in a garbage dump, so we are giving them new life!
Wow!! I've never seen this before butvyou have a beautiful gift! You put a lot into your work and the finished result is beautiful. I don't know if I could do this, but I enjoy watching you make them...wow!
this is soooo beautiful i love the way you make it easy but its not and most of the tools i don't have it but thank you for sharing it with us keep on the great work
Didn't think the world could get any more beautiful than me... until now.. I can watch you make this everyday.. so soft and elegant you have major talent hun... keep it up.. very inspiring. .☆☆☆
This is my fave Gabrielle. It was when I began my art journey in 2013. I am down with Streptococci Pneumonia for nearly a week now, so I am watching some of my fave YT Canvas work to pass the time. You played a huge roll in my inspiration towards this style of canvas MM work. Thank you for that. I hope you are doing well my friend. Thank you for your hard work, and dedication to fulfil your inspirational dreams. Have a wonderful week my friend.
Thanks so much Carol, what a kind thing to say considering this was some of my early videos that were a little shaky. I really appreciate your sweet feedback, happy to hear I helped inspire you in your own creativity! xo
I have some early tutorials that make me smile every time I receive a comment on them. hahaha It is growth, so I try not to be too hard on myself. LOL Have a great week.
this is lovely. I have seen some of your videos and love them all. This one gives me inspiration to do a canvas for my 10 year old grand daughter. You are very talented and I like the way you explain things. TFS ☺ xx
I love your style and spontaneity as well as your frugal use of various materials. This is beautiful and it makes me want to run out and start making my own art pieces. Thanks for the inspiration!
