The only way to keep your dog from matting!!

  • Are you CONDITIONING your dogs when you bath them? If not, you are making the biggest mistake when caring for your pet. Dog mats result from hair that needs brushed, bathed, and conditioned. Skipping the conditioning step could be the reason why your dog has matted hair. This is the biggest mistake you make when bathing your dog at home.
The only way to keep your dog from matting is to brush often, bath, and condition every 3 weeks. If you follow that formula, you will not have matted dog hair because this is the right way to bath your dog.
TIP: let the conditioner sit on the skin and coat for at least 5 minutes before rinsing.

I lost my Pom Yorkie and she was not that hard to maintain. But once I got a shihtzu and Maltese, holy smokes her hair is completely new territory for me. No matter how many times we brush she would just get matted. Watching this vid has helped me significantly in understanding her hair

Oh Amy you are so sweet to the dogs and while teaching us. I have groomed my dogs since Covid. I continued to do so until I have had some health issues. We went to a Grommer I’ve used before and wasn’t happy with her cut. I should have know better. My poodle was done as a poodle but my shih tzu x 2 was done horribly. Their faces and feet were shaved. One has a razor burn on his face. She shaved his face. I was astounded. She cut their feet like a poodle. I may not be a good Grommer and it may take me all day to do one but never will I go back there. She should be shut down. I was so very hurt over this issue. I will figure out on my disability check had to buy products you recommend. My poor babies.

I love this! 😍 thank you for sharing your knowledge! I started grooming a year ago, took my courses and got certified, but I love the fact that I can always learn something new and new ways and techniques to try! I've always conditioned because you know that what I do to my hair to make it healthy right, so same principle for the doggos! Im so glad that you did this to let people know the importance of conditioning! I respect you so much for sharing "secrets" as some would say, but just important knowledge that groomers and owners should know. I feel that is super important in client/groomer relationship, I always share my knowledge and tips and tricks with my clients to ensure that sweet pet is cared for properly. Every groomer should do so in my opinion! So thank you!❤

It’s kind of the same with our human hair. It depends on hair porosity, but for hair like mine with high porosity, I need to condition my hair so it doesn’t tangle! My bf on the other hand has low porosity hair - his hair naturally seals and doesn’t easily lose or take in moisture. he doesn’t need conditioner, it makes his hair too oily, and his hair shafts are naturally sealed and silky.

Thank you so much Amy ❤
I think I’ve watched every video you’ve made, especially the Yorkie ones, more than once lol
I groom my own Yorkie at home. I’m moving to the wide open spaces, outside the City! My Son and Daughter in law bought a big house last October and have ask me to live with them. They want me out of my second floor Condo! 19 Stair’s! I’m 64 and fell down them on my 60th. Birthday and my son hasn’t been the same since.
My 3lbs Yorkie, Marley had her hair long for all her 3yrs 😊❤
Sadly I’ve had to change her style to a shorter style because she would pick up everything out of the grass and there is everything in the grass!
I brush her every morning and evening, I bath her every two weeks! I use your no tears shampoo for her sweet face and Yes, I condition her hair! I wash her more often if needed! My Son has a rescue. An 80lb Lab Coonhound mix LOL.
Marley hasn’t finished with training him completely and he loves licking her, she lets him have it if he snicks up behind her and starts licking, her lady part’s 😅
She with fix that soon, we aren’t totally moved in yet, but that’s one instance of an extra bath. I use the good products you prefer. I love your store on Amazon and have a new clipper’s in my Cart.
Amy, there’s a couple of trimmer’s you recommend?
Which one would you use on her. I’ve brought her hair up to her body, until Spring because we’re in Ohio 🥶!
So far I’m leaning toward the Andis ProClip ACG, 2 speed with detachable blade’s. It’s Spring Green if that helps? Or which would you prefer? I’ve had two Yorkies before her, so my clippers are Old and Very Loud, she hate them! Before cutting her short, I just used thinner’s mostly, except for her ears and pads on her feet and her private parts I have small battery operated trimmer’s that are newer for those area’s, and scissors ✂️ of course, but this is a whole new ballgame! 😅
    Wow, so long winded 😅
Thank you in advance, Amy 🤗❤️🥰

Her last visit to the groomer she was very knotted and The groomer is now suggesting she goes in once a week. I purchased the sun guard conditioner you reccomend. Im thinking I will bring it to the groomer and ask her to use it. My husband said thats like bringing your own food to a restaurant 😂. Do you have any suggestions for me ? I do not want her shaved her coat is so long and beautiful! My groomer makes me feel like Im lying when I say I brush her daily ! I've been through 4 already they all seem to just want to shave and her coat isnt heavy matted at all but it does get knotted.

I have a full coated cotton type havanese, bathed every 2 weeks, 10 inches long hair. If I don't line brush him, from one end to the other, daily, taking at least 45minutes each time, he would be a solid pelt. I also recheck each line brushed with a comb. It is critical that you CORRECTLY brush and comb your dog out, maybe the groomer can show you how to do it, might find out where the problem lies. Check out videos of how to 'line brush', I also find that not all shampoos/conditioners are good for his coat, I've tried lots, better quality products do make a difference, you'll have to find out which ones clean and maintain hair quality. Mine has only ever been professionally groomed 1x, she is amazed at how gorgeous is his coat. Wishing you all the best.

If you bathe her or your groomer bathes her, be sure to always condition as well.
I don’t want to hurt your feelings but you may not be brushing her properly, and that may be what your groomer is frustrated with. Go back in my videos and watch how to brush your dog. If you brush your dog but not properly it is not effective.

This may be good but the video has too much "stuff" going on.... advertisement...saying things like "the things I'm going to tell you..." ....just get to it already. Thanks for sharing I'm going to find a less busy video and one that just gets to the point.
