  • This week I'm updating you on whether my PIP reassessment was successful (I talked about what to expect from a telephone assessment in this vlog: • What To Expect From A ... and I talk about filling out the assessment paperwork in this one: • My Tips for Your Perso... )
    I'm also talking you through the basics of how PIP is scored, how decisions are made and how the PIP award is broken down.
    Some super useful websites:
    www.mypipassessment.co.uk
    www.entitledto.co.uk (this has a great benefits calculator)
    www.citizensadvice.org.uk/ben... (CAB has lots of info around PIP and claiming)

    I used to receive personal independence payments and unexplained they stopped my payments. Right before Christmas and my birthday. So I think the reason why personal independence payments stop was because I recently had a medical assessment done to see how I was going and there asked me questions and asked from scale 1-10 how I felt about my everyday basic things I needed to do. I will upload the paper work so you can see. So in the assessment I was asked about my ability to cook and clean. I mentioned food in the process only because I recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. So I have to watch my diet. I forgot to mention to the woman doing the assessment. The reason why I mentioned food was because I recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so there fire it required healthy food for me. On the 19 Th of November I recently had a phone call from DWP in regards of personal independence payment and I just came from being hospitalised from the dangers of diabetes. I have uncontrolled diabetes due to my stress and confusion. I have been told by my Gp it’s impossible for me to work because of my diabetes. My risks are comma or losing a leg.

    I didn’t get to say that I had Anxiety as I had forgotten to say that to them and I think I won’t be getting PIP. I made a mistake that I didn’t get to say much apart from that I was depressed. Is there anyway to contact them to add more notes what they have written or is that it no turning back?

      Telephone: 0800 121 4433 and explain to them, they can either add what you need to say or tell you how you can add further information! Hope that helps x

      @Estellosaurus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Yes - you can just write that there has been no change since your last review. Anything you can remember though, it’s worth putting that as well - so eg , I still cannot walk more than 20 metered. I think at the moment it is still mostly telephone assessments and if you feel you can’t do a face to face then you can likely request a telephone appointment! My best tips are (and I know it’s easier said than done). Try not to stress, have a reward or treat waiting for when you’ve finished, once it’s done, put it out of your mind. Take your time, don’t let them rush you, and always base your answers on what is your WORST day. Good luck xx

    Hi do you or anyone else know the answer to my question as I have had a assessment which I thought went horrible but some how after I got my report I scored 11 pts via the assessment but I’m told it will take up to 8 weeks to get a decision but my question is this can dwp lower the score if they don’t agree with the assessment? As I’m told they could ignore the report and still score me 0 and this is causing me so much stress and anxiety trying to understand what’s the point of the assessment if they can just ignore it

    • @Estellosaurus
      @Estellosaurus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So I can’t find a definitive answer to this but, generally it seems that they make a decision based on your assessment - if an assessor scored you 11 it seems very unlikely that the DWP ‘Decision Maker’ would then score you a 0. My best advice at this point would be try not to worry - hopefully your decision will come through quickly and you will get what you need. Apologies I cannot be more helpful x

    Dwp are money grasping . I received no mobility element because I can read a map and can walk 50m with a stick. I am therefore not eligible for a bus pass,which is probably a good thing as by the time I got to a bus stop and waited I would probably have to urinate in a bottle in front of everybody. I can walk about 500m which allows me to walk to the end of the estate and back before I need the toilet at the grand old speed of a quarter of a mile an hour. It is a money saving exercise rather than showing any interest in mobility.

      Hello! I’m sorry to hear that - I can’t imagine how difficult that is for you. I’ve been trying to find some useful advice for you, but unfortunately I can’t seem too. What I would suggest is that if you are able too, you can email your local citizens advice team, explain in your email that you cannot do the phone, they can then help and signpost you. You can do your initial claim in writing and then it looks like you can ask to have an advocate - so a family member, carer or independent person that can advocate on your behalf to help you get your claim through. I’d definitely recommend seeking advice from Citizens Advice to start with as they can definitely help you get started in the best way for you! Hope that helps and sorry I don’t have a better answer for you. Good luck xx
