- It's finally here, the results for the Mega Smash Poll Ultimate! In this mini-series we will take a look at all the results of the long awaited Super Smash Bros. Ultimate survey we conducted back in March 2022.
In this episode, we want to touch on the most popular aspect of Super Smash Bros. - its characters. Specifically, the base game roster and share what you all decided were the top 30 characters in the game

Wow I am shocked Incineroar is last. I love him a lot and while the reveal in 2018 was lackluster mainly because of the grinch leak nonsense, I don't think he was disappointing in the long run. Though Shulk being so high up on popularity made me happy. Also god Chrom being number 69 is so fitting

In pokèmon I absolutely hated it’s design. It just looks so ugly. But his moveset in smash feels wonderful.

Opposed to what? I hear people say Cinderace is ugly, Zeraoua is ugly, and, surprise, the same set of haters seem to bash those two Mega Man looking Pokemon.
To me it seems like they're one of those bozos that parade around the idea that monsters are exclusively quadruped beasts, never should they be humanoid.
Funny enough another certain fire starter existed solely to tackle the concern on what could be a Pokemon.
@@TheRealZXXZ I have never had a problem with these other humanoid pokèmon it’s Incineroar specifically I have a problem with. His nose is so scrunched up, the cheek fur is way too long for how big the head is, his fingers are way too big for its hands, the end of its tail looks like a peeled sausage, the entire design is extremely top heavy, and the belt placement makes it look like the legs just protrude out of the torso with no transition.
Can't believe they made an entire poll just so Springtrap can win.
I think rebranding them as echo fighters got a lot of people on board

All my favorite and most used characters made it in this poll. My three best/favorite characters (Roy, K. Rool, Wolf) made it to top 10. Then my pockets (Greninja, Ridley, Ike, Mii Brawler) were also up there. And my Day 1 main was Inkling, who also made it very high on the list. I do like using a majority of the DLC fighters, so I'm interested in the discussion around them.

Also he is criminally underappreciated in the Fire Emblem fanbase and I will die on that hill he's one of the best lords just held back by supports being difficult to obtain in his game

Huh, I guess I'm more optimistic and positive than I thought. I'm one of those people who never gets mad at any character getting in as a fighter in Smash. If anything, I always get excited alongside their fans. Maybe it's just easier for me to accept this series for its flaws than others? I dunno.

Only one favourite and one "hated" creates the same issue as with political parties where you end up with two big parties, even though there are many others.
I think, although maybe more annoying to fill out, that people should just vote for the characters they like, are indifferent about, and disliked. Then take the percentage from like/(like+dislike) and sort them by that.
If someone just likes 3 characters and another person likes 28 of them, it shouldn't really matter. You can like as many as you want.

I'm surprised that King K. Rool is number 1. When Smash Ultimate was launched, I've tried King K. Rool and he was fun, especially with his belly armor which was OP on some attacks.
I’m not surprised personally. It is clear how much love and attention this guy got and this is coming from someone who has never touched a Donkey Kong game. Along with that, he is a fun to play heavyweight with zoner capabilities. That covers two gameplay styles that are really popular. It just makes sense to me.
If luigi get's bottom of the list for having a 0td, then I'm very scared for Steve's placement.
I'm really glad Ridley is second place, after all he was for the longest time the highest requested character for the game, but I have to agree that, while it is fun to play as him, his moveset could be better, like King K Rool's one is just perfect and infact he got first place.
I'm also glad that one of the Mii Fighters made it into the top list, since I know people don't care about them (as also shown by Swordfighter) but I actually really like all three of them and I would love to see another type of Mii added to the game, like a magician.
Likewise, I'm glad for Wii Fit Trainer being high on the list!
Lastly, I'm sorry for Villager's no likes, he is my main after all. However I'm happy with Isabelle's placement as I would have preferred a Tom Nook echo to her.
Hopefully in the next game, PT does get dedicated down B. Putting swap as a shield B instead. Rock Smash comes back to Chariszard, maybe give Ivy leech seed, and Squirtle Bubble.

Without even voting in this poll, my main still made top 20. Happy to see that there is still a desire to have Mewtwo in the game. It gives me hope he could be in the next game too.

I’m surprised Mega Man is so high. I find him more awkward to use than Fox (MM has a lot of projectiles and weird moves/hitboxes), yet Fox is more than 10 spaces lower.
Interesting results. Surprised Chrom didn't place high as I feel he's got beefiness that Marth and Lucina lack.
In defense of Ganondorf, while it doesn't take much from his series, I like his moveset. Suits his tyrannical and brutal nature with a strong backhand (B) and has no problem with lifting you up with one arm and pretty crushing your windpipe
For Pichu, it think he's gone from joke character to glass cannon status. Good in the right hands. There's better options for a joke fighter (example: Tingle as the 'bumbling fool' or Waluigi in a Dan Hibiki role)
Anyway, interesting stuff nonetheless. It must be tough to create characters, movesets, keep the themes AND make it all balanced enough. That I hope we can agree on.

Wii Fit Trainer averages 0% approval/disapproval rating, 30th place.
Palutena averages -0.05% approval/disapproval rating, 29th.
Now that I’ve watched this video, here are my Predictions of the DLC Characters Ranking List:
1. Sora
2. Banjo & Kazooie
3. Steve
4. Joker
5. Sephiroth
6. Terry
7. Kazuya
8. Hero
9. Piranha Plant
10. Pyra & Mythra
11. Min Min
12. Byleth
The main reason why I have Sora & Banjo very high on the list is because they were highly requested, & watching King K. Rool & Ridley take the 2 top spots in the base made me think about that. So this is definitely people leaning towards the highly requested characters over the non-requested/unexpected characters. I could be wrong, but I’m most likely gonna be right about that. And as for Byleth, Min Min, & Pyra/Mythra being in the bottom, well people complained about their inclusions, & so I think they’re likely gonna be low sadly. But regardless, these are my prediction rankings of the DLC Fighters for the next video, & I look forward to watching it. Again, I’m pretty confident with my predictions. 😅
I was expecting Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Little Mac to be on bottom 5 of their own unique predicaments.
I’m still thinking Rayman might be in this Meva Smash Ultimate Characters Poll in some form.
People only like Echo Fighters because of the name, even though most of the Echo Fighters are less unique than previous clones.
So.
@@INFERNO95 Because they complained about clones before, but now they're perfectly okay with them. They complained about Lucina and Dark Pit in Smash 4 when they were only 2 of the 17 base game newcomers, yet were completely fine with 5 of the 11 base game newcomers in Ultimate being echoes.
I feel like people are more okay with Echo Fighters because they have a name beyond 'clone'.
Needs more plant boi. Can't wait for the DLC character episode.
Though I have to wonder how much times did a character come up in the poll.
Here is an example of what I mean:
Fighter A: 0.30% Approval and 0.10% Dislike
Fighter B: 5.20% Approval and 5.10% Dislike

I guess I'm in the minority who never really had a dislike for the characters that got into smash. I'm quite the opposite and enjoyed their inclusion. Sure online players tend to use some characters to be as annoying as possible. But it never changed the overall aspect of them. Heck one of my favorite characters to play as was Byleth. And that was during when everyone hated Byleth for no reason. And even way before Byleth was used by MKLeo. So yeah..there was no way for me to get mad at any Smash character overall.
Off topic but I think it's hilarious that people really want Halo, a franchise with no games on Nintendo, to join Smash, a Nintendo exclusive series
Like, I love Halo, but it won't happen until the series properly comes to Nintendo. Until proven otherwise, a franchise needs to have games on Nintendo to be represented even at slightest

I’m surprised that Mega Man is so high. He is in my bottom 10 least favorite designed characters in smash because he doesn’t feel like mega man, he feels like the 8 bit sprite of mega man but not the actual character of mega man. No personality and his moveset isn’t cohesive what so ever.
Also shocked Incinaroar is last! Really? His animations are so cool. His personality shines through so well. I’m not a huge Incinaroar fan but below Sonic? Below Olimar?
King K Rool as number 1 makes sense though as he is the objectively best character in the game.

My main is the third most popular and my (heh) pocket is the third least favorite. I'd say that's perfectly balanced, but Isabelle didn't deserve that! and Villager certainly deserved SOMEONE to give him a vote. He was my main in 4 that's sad to see.
4 of my most played characters (Kirby, Mii Brawler Lucas and Cloud) in the top 30 feels good but man did a part of me die seeing Incineroar in last. Was he really that much of a disappointment to you people.
I'm sure most off those dislike for daisy are those whiny waluigi fans who are still mad she made the roster while he still a assistant trophy.
damn, I should have written my prediction that none of the characters with 0 votes would be from Fire Emblem, not having any experience with the franchise mind you, I just knew the dislike for the series was just an extremely vocal minority

This is really disappointing as a fan of both Incineroar and Isabelle, but hey, Yoshi made Top 30 so I don't mind
I think they unintentionally skewed it by asking people to list 1 fav and least fav. They really should have asked top and bottom 5. I think Isabelle would have been in a lot of people's top 5's, just nobody's absolute fav.
@@AdamTheGameBoy In an ideal world we would've asked you to rank all 76 characters by favourite to least favourite, but would you really have sat there and done that, as well as everything else that was on the survey? It's difficult to find a balance when it comes to stuff like that as an hour long survey isn't going to hold everyones attention.
@@AllSourceGaming Yeah, that's why I said just top and bottom 5. It's still not too much trouble to list 10 total characters and only ask for a reason for the absolute top and bottom of those 2 sets of 5.
You kinda fucked up Kirby's intro. His best appearance was in Smash 64. He was top of the game with Pikachu
are people still bitter about the grinch leak? This is the only reason I can think about why people dislike Incineroar.
Or maybe people just hate his design? As I have since Sun and Moon. It's also my least favourite Pokemon

I also like how Daisy and Sonic are low not because fans hate them, but are disappointed with their portrayal.
I also agree with a lot of the reasons for the characters' rankings with a few exceptions:
I don't find Peach, Ike, and Palutena's movesets to be 'boring'. Ike stands out as a strong sword-wielder among the FE cast and Palutena was the fighter that introduced the 'distance demon' playstyle. I recognize Peach is not for everyone and her reliance on Vegetable as a projectile is dumb, but her gameplay is very unique among the cast (Daisy being an exception).
One positive I would give to Villager would be their creative alts.

I'm not surprised the Blue Blur is so low, maybe after Sakurai praising Frontiers, he might add or change to Sonic's moveset.
Also I know I'll get hate for this, but haha. Isabelle I low as well. Her inclusion was unnecessary.
Ok I call bullshit. There is no way more people like Zelda and Game and Watch more than they dislike them. These characters are notorious for their stupid, annoying, spammy playstyles that suck the fun out of every game. Your poll got screwed with or there were a bunch of trolls or something because that isn't right.
