I feel insane thinking this... this unit is a bargain for what you get. It's a one and done purchase. Unlike a house, it will not grow in value but when you consider buying some land and not having to bring in infrastructure, this thing is in a league of its own. Well done. Thank you JD for bring such a thorough and enlightening series of videos forward to enlighten us.
I've been so blown away by this LV series that I'm slipping blissfully into incoherency. Nothing to say. Bravo!
Thanks for following along!
Now this is the post I’ve been waiting for. There’s so much to show us that I’m glad you’re making several videos about these trailers. I’m as as excited for these trailers as you are.
I am very much into living solar, and may be building my own off grid location this fall or next spring, and really appreciate the level of engineering that went into these systems. So enjoying this livingvehicle series. Thank you very much
Thank you for following along. Please let us know if there's something we should have covered in the series we can cover in future videos. We love feedback!
@@joannahofmann4570 A great job so far. I’m sure I could think of some things, but there’s only so much minutia that can reasonably be done. I think there was a water recovery system mentioned. That’s all I can think of at the moment.
@@bobuncle8704 We're all about the details! We have onboard water generation and are working on a cohesive water reclamation solution. Lots of things in beta phase that we don't cover in the videos.
The most impressive proof of concept, spokesperson, and business objective. Outstanding.
The only weak link with be the flex panels. Those look like the standard sun power solar panels that have been around for a while and just dont hold up. Renogy 175s and the new 200s with half cut cells would have been a much better option as the 175s have been proven and doing great for years and the new ones are a better quality build. They can easily switch but that would be something they should look in to verses the sun power which several of those have burnt up. Although I still have not seen any 175s from renogy go up in flames. But who knows its possible with any flex panel.
Over all very nice trailer and the rest of the system with marine products is top notch. Just swap the panels 👍🏼
Love the concept and all of the information. Great video series and can't wait for more on these trailers. Thank you for sharing JD.
Thank you for appreciating all of the details. Hours and hours of content to come!
I'm liking this series so far. May not be able to buy one tomorrow but it is nice to see what I'm working for. This company has made the exact camper I have been explaining to my wife what I want to build. I guess I don't have to now
Can they “loan” you one of those units for evaluation at your property in Texas?
What happens to the solar equipment in the bilge if you spill a bucket of water on the floor?
I have 45 total kw of battery. 30 kw of lifepo4 and almost 15 kw of nissan leaf modules. 7kw of inverter and run everything in my camper with electric. Solar is definitely the way to go. I did my solar for about 30 grand worth of equipment. I built it all into a holiday rambler and couldn't be happier with my build. I really like the way the solar panels are on this unit as mine are all ground deploy. Thanks for the video
Protect this man, the energy Cartel ain't gonna like this !!!!
Is destination delivery available? An example is remote land un Alaska used as a hunting base camp or winter escape?
They mentioned something about delivery in an earlier video. No
specifics though.
@@Ken_Koonz I was thinking something elaborate like a helicopter lift to the middle of nowhere. 😆
How about both now that would be insane 😂
Looks like this will be your next RV purchase 😂
Can’t wait to see if they Will venture into 5th wheels?
Yes, we have a 5th wheel option available! More info on our website.
14:00 No one who knows what they are doing in solar talks about generation in watt hours at this scale. It becomes kWhs.
Thank you for letting the guy talk
Hi! First of all I enjoy your videos and I really enjoy this series, but I have one observation that is annoying to me, perhaps not to all your viewers. It seems to me that there is a lot of repeat information in this series of videos. Anyone like myself will notice that a lot of time is consumed by repeating the info. hanging on pins & needles waiting for the new stuff. I hope you consider this observation as positive input and not negative criticism. Thank you for your work.
The reason for redundant information is because TH-cam algorithm oftentimes won't play the first video in a series. So you need to repeat some of it for those who will never watch the others.
Great tech for very rich folks.
Ya know what would be cool, a model without the flip down side deck, but instead have a permanently covered back patio deck. Like the back of a train and/or yacht.
They installed a volta system on a spacecraft RV that does the same thing. Off grid living . Watch that video also.
You can't deny the quality, but when I go RVing I don't want to feel like I joined the Navy. At that price point I want luxury, and you can get a nice motor home for even money.
LV is certainly not for everyone. Sounds like there’s another type of product on the market that will suit your needs quite well!
This would be amazing for living on your land, while you're building your home on site. However, more and more states and counties are making "trailers" on your land any longer than a few months, is illegal.
Battery tech is coming up, but I wish they could figure out a 50 or 75 year lifetime solar panel, instead of the current 15 to 20 year.
The "20" year life of our current solar panels is a guarantee of at least 80% output of it's new rating after 20 years. So, in a sense, we do have 50-75 year capable panels
In fairness wood cabinetry like what you find in Newell, Country Coach or even something like the Van Leigh Beacon isn’t automatically inferior or less durable. Built right and installed right wood cabinets can be every bit as durable as the metal cabinets here. And they can have advantages like having latch systems that aren’t tool box metallic clinks every time you use them which is something I noticed in one of the videos.
I can only speak from personal experience having renovated hundreds of vintage trailers. After a couple decades of age, wood cabinetry was the number one thing that needed to be torn out and replaced. Whether from damage to wood from condensation, water infiltration, or rot - or even more common from movement of the RV frame and chassis that degraded the structural integrity of cabinetry itself. There’s a reason we don’t see wood being used in the automobile industry.
OUTSTANDING video…I just wish I had the cash to buy one !
Is there a modular roof solar option for motor homes stand alone?
Dude, let the engineer speak!!!😮
What is the delivery time if you order one of LV units?
How would this work in a state that has lots of snow during winter and dupes to the negative temps including -40 and -50
I think anything struggles in those without a ton of heating capacity. I couldn't answer that question...perhaps, hitch up and take it somewhere not as cold?
Living Vehicle is designed for below freezing temperatures down to -4°. As with all things, there is a limit based on what we are optimizing for. While we are not designing for the fringes of temperature extremes, the LV has been shown to function down to -40 in heat loss envelope analysis. (Not real world testing and this, not rated this low)
move 🤣😂🤣
Does LV offer financing options?
You MIGHT get 20kWh per day from a 4400W solar array.
Summer in the lower states with no trees around, you could probably capture 30kwh a day. The minis splits dont work well in the winter to heat, and that solar array wont make much power in the winter, maybe 1/3 of the power.
Elon can use these on Mars!
With all that money and education it's too bad a fluid dynamics class didn't get put into the exterior design. I'd venture that a cinder block is more aerodynamic down the road. By virtual of a low center of gravity, with the batteries, it's not likely to tip over but the high coefficient of drag must eat up fuel like Joey Chestnut at a hotdog contest.
I love technology and wouldn't kick this out of the driveway but what part of living in a box that looks like an inside out high end tool chest as luxury? All of that hard surface area inside must reverberate like being inside a mausoleum.
I wonder what the thermal transfer is like in cold weather with the floor and sidewall construction?
Another aspect of photovoltaic efficiency is being able to tilt towards the sun especially in winter, do those awnings tilt up? Is the leveling system able to tilt the whole rig?
Also why a super duper higher than high end never before seen level of excellence in an rv trailer not use the top of the industry range Mitsubishi mini split inverter heat pump? LG ranks about 3rd or 4th down the ladder. Not bad, but with electronics costing about as much as a Patek Philippe Nautilus (in aluminum foil) why not spring for the best?
BTW, how many Nissan Leafs is the electrical system alone equal to?
Usually like your videos JD but I think you're a bit over the top with the repetitive descriptions with LV here.
What is the life of the batteries?
Approximately 6000 cycles average
I have watched all the videos in this series, and yes, these trailers are impressive. But, they cater to a specific crowd. Are you wealthy? Do you want to be off grid? Are you at least 50-50 an environmentalist, because you sure aren't moving this very far with an electric vehicle, so you have to make some compromises if you are all in on enviro.
While many people can afford this and might be interested, it has still yet to be addressed when a system fails; no matter how remote of a possibility they seem to believe it might be, who services it, and where? How long is the warranty on the systems, frame, and shell; and are the warranties each different?
These young people have an excellent idea! But ideas on what is perfect for people change with need, and age. Who in their 50s has not gone from a bunkhouse, to something larger, to eventually a couples camper? The longevity of these campers may not come into question. But to suggest these are forever campers is ridiculous; unless you are wealthy enough to pass them down as you change your tastes in what you specifically need for personal use, and that is only if your children enjoy camping.
What you may end up with is a 6 figure paper weight that sits on your property, that doesn't fit any of the families needs; and a high 6 figures to boot!
Doesn't mean these young people are bad, or that their dream is faulty. Just means maybe they SHOULD cut a few corners, because when people do realize the vehicle no longer fits their needs, they are going to be a bunch of UNHAPPY campers when they have a very small group of people interested, unless it is sold at cut rate prices. It is like the people who paid a fortune for the Chrysler Prowler, and now can't get 15 cents for them because the people who would like them, are so few and far between!
yeah these cater to the Rich and over kill.
sucks to be poor
Can we move on?
OK - we know you're 'looking for your next collaboration,' and we know the LV's are great...
But either be honest and admit that you're shilling for them, or can we just move on to regular, attainable RV's please?
We get it. Yes, yes, they're awesome. But this isn't the LV Sales Channel.
Honestly, If you don't like the content, there's a lot of other channels you can be watching besides this one right now. I'm a TH-cam creator, and I need to maximize content when I'm filming at a location.

As a finish carpenter I watch a lot of tool videos. Festool makes high quality, accurate power tools. More than half the comments are people whining about the price.
@@thekinarboFacts, ppl are hating and criticizing and mad, because they can’t afford it…
DON’T WATCH IT…
JD, has been educating ppl and showing great RVs from both spectrums for years! God Bless him!
Whether or not JD is selling for them and getting a cut, GOD BLESS him then if he is!

Voluntary exchange is what makes the free world go around.
JD used to be a nice guy. He now has a awhole attitude when truthfully commenting on his videos.
Well, I have to say that was an absolute and complete total waste of 25 minutes of my life. It is obvious that you love to hear yourself talk the problem is you just don’t ever say anything
Was hoping to actually see the trailer actually see the rooms actually see the equipment
But oh no, we have to just stand there and listen to you. Patch yourself on the back about how
Horrible, horrible
This is a vastly over priced and over engineered toy for the rich.
A bit of a novelty, but if I had millions of spare dollars... I'd get one.
I guess this is the Living Vehicle RV week? who are these videos for? the 0.5% who can afford these things? I got the gist from the first few videos they are awesome and well built. Can we move on to more relevant topics?
Do you watch Star Trek because you think someday you'll own the SS Enterprise? Hopefully you watch it because you enjoy the content and it can provide insightful information regarding these types of upgrades of your own.
Actually, Living Vehicle week has a nice ring to it!
@@BTBRVReviewsdoes this mean we can get one every year? 😂
Judging how quickly we innovate and release new products, this is a very viable idea. 😉
