Omg. That flagpole system needs to be changed to be more safe. That could’ve been bad Love your jeeps Fred and Willma that’s funny. This video was very entertaining. Thank you
Watching with ☕️ coffee and 🥚eggs and 🥓 bacon. Such a great cabin. One of the reasons I joined your channel. Love it There is no such thing as garbage when it comes to steel pipe. That erection of the flagpole was sketchy as Hell. Chris had it all figured it out..maybe! Mothernature sure is full of beauty. Every season has it nice scenery. Trail camera on that game trail? Canning looked good. Thanks you 2. Great job
Eggs, bacon and TH-cam? That sounds like a perfect morning! We do love our little cabin. I hope to get in there and get it cleaned up this weekend and ready for winter. That flagpole was absolutely the sketchiest thing we’ve done in a while. I love that idea, game cam on the trail!
Definitely Airbnb that cabin! Probably get $150 to $200 a night with that location. Just make sure it has a nice pooper. All mushrooms are edible, some only once😂. They make these things called pulleys, I’d mount one to the top so you don’t try to die putting a flag up 😂
We have an adorable outhouse…. Is that a nice pooper? There’s no septic system so that makes it hard. I’m just not sure about how people will react or deal with no running water in the winter. I love that mushroom quote lol I’ve never been brave enough to harvest and eat mushrooms. 🍄 I have a book. And an app. But it’s so risky! And yes! A pulley system might be the ticket. Definitely not the way we did it… twice haha
@@OffGridWithChrisandKristie I’d still Airbnb the cabin from spring till freeze in the fall. You have a potential to bring in $10 to $20,000 a year. Ask me how I know? Just make the cabin unavailable in the winter on the Airbnb calendar. Plus that keeps you from having to clear snow and ice for safety concerns. The outhouse wouldn’t be a problem as long as it is shabby chic.
@@AppalachianFarmstead the outhouse is adorable! It’s wallpapered and has lights, and is well located. I was thinking of a winter snowmobile in and out cabin. There’s nothing like that around here. Spring and summer are definitely easier though. Better solar etc. I love your encouragement thank you!
BOO! 👻 There were definitely some terrifying shenanigans going on in this video. Geesh, about gave this girl a heart attack. 😅 I think renting the cabin out as an AirBnB is an excellent idea, but I wouldn't blame ya if you kept it totally to yourselves.
We are definitely on the fence about it for sure. It would be nice to share the place with others. But I don’t think dealing with the “public” is reflective of what we are trying to achieve haha
Great job on the build. The solar power system you have is what I recommend as minimum plus 1 eg4. Add 30kw you could go mostly 120v including heat. Good wind there, maybe a wind turbine that turns on when the sun is down. I have Govee 2x50ft LED, not the brightest but the 500w could light the rec center for 16hrs. When the snow hits the ground again, have you tried vertical solar? I have 11.6kw @90 deg, in summer only get 5600w x 16hrs np, in Dec with snow over 12kw, panels stay clean snow slides off, best performance on the shortest days with snow.
Oh wow. Sounds like you’ve definitely got it figured out! We have a more extensive system up at our home. The one at the cabin is pretty little and simple. At our house we run all EG4! Great equipment we are very happy with it
@@OffGridWithChrisandKristie we will see if the changes work from last year, maybe it won't be cloudy for 105 days this winter, adding heat below is a win, solar 1200w in overcast, maybe next week some snow #'s, last year I had 1 less array and an inverter that didn't charge past 55%, I have my 3rd inverter now finally working properly.
@@bobmonztr awesome! We just hooked up our second EG4 rack yesterday. So now we have 60kw of battery storage. It’ll be interesting to see how many days of storage that equates to! It’s fun to learn what others are doing, and what works for them!
@@OffGridWithChrisandKristie 60 is great, I use 12kwh with electric heat, I bet 5 days minimum, also because of the decreased discharge you just doubled your battery life, 50% less cycles, all we need is 2 hours of sun
@@DoubleTap40 no doubt it was a discussion we had! We work full time jobs, and water facilities were a must, laundry, 12 month shower etc. While that is totally possible in a cabin like this, we wanted to keep it as original as possible. The cabin is just beautiful and even though it mostly serves as a guest house now, we still go down there for weekend “getaways” sometimes.
@@shawndonohoe2789 that would be super cool! We had this provincial flag already, and I think it’s pretty. So it went up. We would like a bigger one! Canadian flags are awesome 🍁 🇨🇦 Maybe when we HAVE to replace it we will switch it up :)
What a sweet cabin. Brings back memories of when we had a cabin and cutting it down for the season. Another great video Chris and Kristie.
