I hope Dan, Chris and Ben get together again as mates. It doesn't matter if they never play another note of music, or if they jam together and no one hears it. It's just important that they re-establish their bond so they can look back at that time without the bitterness.

It was too much, too soon & Daniel’s clearly struggled with his mental and physical health since the start. I don’t blame him for wanting silverchair to stop. All that band seemed to do was cause him damage which he’s spent his entire life from mid-teen, trying to heal from. Ben’s always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder because he was in a band that achieved so much & could tour on a global scale, then his best mate ended the band & took his career with it. This book came about because Daniel did the podcast & released his album last year with TONS of silverchair related merch. He’s essentially profiting from silverchair’s legacy (which he’s entitled to) without Ben. Say what you want about his solo stuff, at least he’s never really stopped making music. It’s easy for people to turn on Daniel but his experience in that band was very different to theirs.
At the end of the day, Ben could’ve started another band any time he wanted over the last 10-12 years but he tethered his career to Daniel & has chosen to resent him for it. That’s on him. Do feel bad for Chris though. He’s been through way too much & is always caught in the middle. Hopefully they’re friends again one day

A reminder how much influence and tallent Daniel had in the band. It all came to a grinding halt without him involved

when it comes to singing, you just can't have anybody to take the frontman spot.
He was basically running things, the orchestra and composers put in a massive effort for neon ballroom and diorama too though. Of course Ben and Chris are good musicians but as far as my knowledge goes they weren't really involved in song writing on anything after freakshow
That's not true at all! The band came to a halt with all 3 members still in the band! Dan's talent only went so far, because Talk is crap and so is FutureNever.

Why should they do that? A few months ago Dan said on live TV that he didn't want anything to do with either Ben or Chris at this moment in time! His demands for respect just shows how up his own ass he's become!

I wish they’d stop pushing repairing the friendship with Daniel, ppl change, lives change. We aren’t going to be friends with everyone our whole lives, esp in this situation. Glad Ben and Chris have reunited naturally.
i saw them live. opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers. i THINK it was 1994. but my WORD. they came on and CRUSHED it SO HARD. that RHCP had a hard time coming on AFTER them. from THAT day i was a silverchair fan for LIFE. them boys were like FIFTEEN or SIXTEEN them days. played almost that whole frogstomp album from front to back.
i think they were opening for chilis in '96. in '94 they were still at demo stage

Saw them live in 2005 and it was such a let down. Most of the crowd at the festival appeared disappointed. Didn't play any of their most loved music... Mostly the softer stuff, as the headliner of a ROCK festival...

You had 20 years to come up with an Alternative band, think Eddie Veddar, Phil Collins, Scott Weiland all had successful 2nd and some solo and 3rd bands to their credit! Hope the book pays off your Mortgage though and you have had a closure getting the book out. 📖 youve had your say which youre 100% entitled too.

why is this book only limited to AU? i hope Ben & Chris can do a joint book tour outside AU. there are many SC fans ready to come out & see them after so long, with or without Dan. waiting for Dan is literally stopping time. so don't let that ruin the joy for others.

As for the interviewer, if you’re going ask them questions, give them a chance to answer fully, instead of just wanting to get through your questions.

Seeing how Ben and Chris are acting, I wonder why Dan didnt leave them before... Ben is toxic and a liar, and Chris is following him in recoil.. just sad.. no empathy for Dans mental health and now talking about LOVE & PAIN. It feels more like ENVY & BITTERNESS.. SHAME. At least now I realise that those thieving birds 1, 2 and 3 was an indirect to Ben.

Unfortnately Daniel seems very damaged. Look at his interviews. He seems like he is always 1 step away from a breakdown. Poor bloke. I really hope they can all mend their friendships moving forward. Silverchair, or no silverchair. If i was in silverchair you couldnt stop from wanting my mates there and making music. Daniel appears to despise Silverchair and that era of his life. Yet for some many of us, silverchair was awesome. It cant understand it.

If you heard both sides, it all sounds very bitter! All of them are trying really hard not to be "the bad guy", but we all know it's over! You can't recreate the moment, you can't got back in time! I think Daniel (and i love his new latest album) is trying to. I can very relate to that. But it's over! To be brutally honest - it was Daniels brilliance (with all his Problems), that made Silverchair that great. Like Ben said: now it's a Hobby for him. Dan would never say something like that.

Gonna have to strongly disagree with this, especially with Ben Gillies. Ben Gillies not only co-wrote most of Frogstomp, but his drumming was absolutely crucial to the band, without Ben's drums I feel Silverchair would’ve been missing something.

I disagree. Gillies was a total beast on drums and a force in the live shows. Silverchair is defined as a band that could go from Ana's Song to ferocity like No Association. No other band can do that!
Spawn Again was their best song live I think. It was so intense, Daniel could only do it for one tour. I don't think there are any live performances of Spawn after 1999. Ben was the BeastMaster that drove Daniel into the Dark Cave on Spawn Again.
Again, at a Silverchair show you heard the beauty of Ana's Song and the Holocaust of Spawn Again in one set. You can't take those two Aussie bruisers out of that equation.
i'm just guessing from what i've seen so far on this band. Daniel may connect with them as friends down the road, but they can never make music again as silverchair, or not even make music together. It's a dark place for Daniel.
They should start a new band with a new singer 🎤

Daniel is a musical phenomenon, but Daniel has never reached the peak success of Silverchair again.
They keep saying that this is 'their' story, yet they can't stop talking about Daniel and what he may or not have thought and be feeling etc etc. Stop talking about him lads, this whole thing is ridiculous!
Daniel also talked a lot about them on his podcast, TH-cam videos, Instagram and used photos of them at his exhibition in Melbourne.

Oh please! Dan has literally dressed up as woman and roamed the streets off his face. That got published in heaps of tabloids and was probably more damaging to him than anything written in the book.

I wouldn't say they rode his coat-tails. Dan's music after 'Silverchair' is terrible. 'Talk' was crap and so is 'FutureNever.' The stuff he made with Luke Steele aka 'Dreams' was terrible as well. The ONLY reason it was classed as a success for Dan is because most 'Silverchair' fans bought what he released because of their love for Silverchair. He even promoted 'FutureNever' with 'Silverchair' add-ons and made fans think they would get a similar sounding experience, at the time, only he knew that he was luring people into a false sense of purchase! So no, I wouldn't say that Ben and Chris rode his coat-tails at all.

I think he’s being really honest and I admire that he can admit his wrongs and move forward ❤
He’s not moving forward, he’s playing Victim. Says he wrote the book for his children, can do that without publishing and passive aggressively revenging on a band member. Perhaps some EQ when Daniel was in an acute mental health state instead of internalising his anger toward him they’d be in a different place right now.
He co-wrote with Daniel and claims a large part of the creativity (apple fresh beg to differ) start your own gig, the world would have followed.

Not that it's strange to do, but he made it sound like he was doing it to kind of be like, look how great I am kind of thing. He also says basically nothing about the Daniel situation and claims he wishes things were different, when he's the one that was attacking Daniel in rehab and the one that blocked Daniel on social media after all he did was congratulate him on being a father. Talk about petty, Jesus Christ

Daniel spoke badly about Ben publicly and it is obvious that Ben wants to vindicate himself and not look like the bad guy on the entire internet.
People use "Apple Fresh" to attack Ben's songwriting ability. I know the song is very bad. I prefer to highlight good songs like "State Of Mind" where he shows that he has the talent to write good Rock Pop songs.
@@Wolfram__Hart tbh the first time i heard that apple fresh song it reminded me of Silence, by Dan's collab Dreams, but..not as good. and "on the stereo" also...i thought "why does this sound like a song from Talk?" So i was left with a...is he trying to prove that the music Dan makes, anyone can make or even now he is influenced by what Dan does even if he is mad at him? cause even the way of singing was similar..it felt like a damn dig, like "see, anyone can do what you do". I dont know.

I can see why someone would be deeply offended if the friend they have known and worked with for years comes out with, "your mental health issues are an act for publicity." Only a ego driven person with no compassion, depth or understanding of how complex a true artist's mind can be would come out with that. You really should appologise Ben.
Seems a bit off to me these two guys doing the rounds making money off any reality show. Peddling their book, subtly slamming Daniel john's. Daniel John's WAS Silverchair. Anyone could have filled the shoes of these two.
