Who do you think told them to that, to a neighbouring friendly country? The only one who thinks they are above the UN is the US, as the 1990-2003 period proved. The Americans starved the Iraqi people and forbade them from basic neccesities such as medicine, leading to 500,000 children deaths. Go look up Albright's 60 Minutes interview. Kershaw 14 You fear what you don't know. Being ignorant and complaining about kids who are just different from you is just showing how much you fear the rapid change going on within society. Kids nowadays have grown up in different circumstances than previous generations but that's how it's always been. The Boomer generation in 1960s America was seen as radical and hip due to how they protested against the Vietnam War and refused to be drafted. In comparison, the Greatest Generation fought a completely different with completely different circumstances. Just because you fail to see that circumstances to which children have grown up in a certain generation does not demerit them. Every generation has looked down on the one after it. This is no different.

Today that same friend is at John Hopkins as an Infectious disease specialist, while I'm at Columbia pursuing my dual MD PhD in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology and Hematology and Oncology. I'm glad to belong to a country where my prime minister holds a Masters in Political Science from the University of Delhi and as a child worked with his father as a tea seller. It shows how far we've come in our social struggle as a nation and society alike. As for him being the butcher of Gujarat. The Gujarat riots saw dead on both sides of religions. It was a sad day for humanity when human beings irrespective of religion died. But since then, there hasn't been a single riot. It also happens to be the riot where most number of indictments were made, most people arrested and Modi was investigated thrice by the SIT, Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court. If he was given a clean chit while others were arrested, then I trust my judicial system.

What terrible moments this man has passed, he's still shocked (and hope it wont last forever)...his eyes have lost the natural bright, he deserves respect...
Torture is something former POWs never forget. Think of the guys who were held in the Hanoi Hilton
What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. I'm not a fan of trite sayings but it does seem to fit in this case.
Kids nowadays need safe spaces and can’t decide if there a boy or a girl LOL
LMAO do they scare you? LMAO
@@haz-iq why would they scare anyone? its just pathetic and sad
Kids are kids. This isn't a 'changing of the times' dumbass and don't make it one. This man is a soldier. Don't mix him up with civilians. There were 'cowardly' civilians at his 'time' too.
Thank you for your service, Sir. God bless you.

Love the British people. The queen can go and die in a hole though.
Queen is a thief!
What about everyone else?
So proud to have been in the presence of these two men when they were attending an airshow after this incident and getting their autographs.
Just want to say really good to see you're doing so well Sir. Very Respectfully, Neil Radgosky, 135Q BoomOp, Beale AFB CA DS / 90-91
This makes you proud to be British..
What type of people dislike this video..
Thank you for your service sir
RESPECT ALWAYS TO YOU
That photo of John is absolutely iconic and representative of the times.
This soldier is hero and inspiration. You my friend are someone we all can look up to. Bless you and your family. Thank you for your service!
He's honestly the most British dude I've ever seen. Lands after pulling his parachute and says, this is the Iraqi desert now then. I have nothing but respect for you. You and Abhinandan Vartaman are a class apart.
Couldn't agree more. Really captures the British spirit. Always having room for humor, even in dire situations. And more importantly, beeing resilient and adapting to the most adverse situations. You can say what you want about them, they are somewhat oblivious, but when it really counts the British are some tough nuts to crack. Reminds me of the expedition of Robert Scott.
This man is a hero. Abhinandan was on a fools errand and got served. Abhinandan was disgracefully ejected from the airforce. Pun intended
@@jibrankhantareen7300 You and I might disagree over what the purpose was. But it takes balls to be shot down over enemy territory, only to survive and live and tell the tale all the while making jokes and living bravely. Something you will never know my friend, nor I. Because I can 100% tell you, by your style of writing, you don't have it in you to be the man that he is if the same thing happens to you. Have some respect for the men who fight, irrespective of which side they fight on. Then again, that's why you lose wars and we win wars. Have a healthy respect for your own men and an even healthier respect for your enemy. You'll live long.
@@ashutoshsharmash dont talk about wars with a tea seller PM, the butcher of gujarat. India provoked an act of war and we dismissed it with a peace gesture. Abhinandan was taken by the arm like a little child and made to sign non-disclosure agreements to save india from more shame.
@@jibrankhantareen7300 Yes, Modi spent his childhood supplementing his father's income by selling tea while studying. APJ Abdul Kalam was an agricultural laborer before he did his PhD in aeronautical engineering. K Sivakrishnan, the current head of the ISRO, as a child supplemented his family's income by working in the fields.
We are proud of such people, because this is what India represents. A man's worth is not determined by what his birth is, but by how hard he works to achieve his dreams. When I went to medical school, I studied along with children from a similar background and I too worked in a pharmaceutical shop during my MBBS years.
PTSD is still evident.. I wish him and his family luck and a prosperous life.
this dude has balls of steel
It's a wonder how he was able to get the plane off the ground.
Ive had the honour of meeting this guy and what he went through deserves every medal of honour you can get , tornado down is a must buy .
He wasn’t saying that when I met him shortly after his debrief and he gave us a blow by blow account. Most of which he has not repeated in this clip. His most enduring statement that I can recall was “ I felt a complete Phalia, they spent 2 1/2 million pounds training me and I failed my mission” He was almost in tears when he said this. His navigator married to my friends daughter.

This is what a real hero looks like..I watched this live in 9th grade w my mom whos crying non stop my father who was a F14 Pilot and wing Commander Who come to find out was in the very first group of the strike , we new he would be right in it knowing him and his position he would have rather flown n be shot down than his younger guys, Man what a surreal moment listening to this amazing guy right here, it just gave me chills thinking about how hard those times were!!
I served at his unit at the same time. These guys are true heroes.
You ever read about the guys who were held in Hanoi mate? They are heroes too
Thank you for your sacrifice you lost so much but you gained so much respect and admiration from so many.
A very brave man who's stared into the abyss...
Pride of Britain servicemen & women like yourself
Thank you for your service!
Bloddy legend
Matthew attacked a country for no good reason, got Beaten in both conflicts by ak47 😂😂😂😂
The moment you realise that Ben's death certificate is going to read: "jerked himself off to death".
Snobby peasant
Lazarbeam
@Joel Schembri plenty of other countries in the same situation. Its just there was oil involved..
You thought people would think you are a traitor, but actually you're an absolute hero and legend. Proud of you and proud to be British. Thank you for everything you've done for us.
Watching this, i realize what some older folk that went through German occupation in my country used to say: "You have no idea what you are capable of surviving".
God bless you. I'm grateful you survived the torment.
Immensely proud of your courage & all the confidence you gained.
You're a great role model.
I can't begin to imagine the PTSD he deals with.
Lived a few doors down from John Peters at RAF Bruggen. Remember all the Tornado's leaving for the Gulf in '91 and remember their capture and TV parading. He was soon back home and enjoying the summer fete on camp after the war. This is a real hero.
Thank you for you’re service sir 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
He wouldn't thank you for yours with your miss guided views
Mitchell Plaice another Muslim sympathiser ...... yawn
Snake Plisskin that's right just like 99% of other people that believe in any religion religions and God don't kill people people kill people and we've killed much more of them than they have us over the years and we drew first blood we still bombing there kids now but get all defensive and insulted when some of there miss guided people's try and attack us which is hardly ever in comparison you all sound like inbred racists from a distant town or village that's nobody likely to visit or give a fuck about for another 100 years keep your weird narrow minded racist views behind your keyboards because thats the farthest they ever be able to go. None of you on this comment have served your country if you did you'd have a lot more knowledge and respect. Sip your can of Stella and stay in your narrow lane
Mitchell Plaice I never had a problem with other religions only Muslims have been aggresive to me it even ended up in some fights.
Of course he deserves respect - personally. But there is an overarching issue here. We destroyed a stable and actually anti-terrorist country for absolutely NO legitimate reason. It was a war of pure aggression fought at the behest of ISRAEL. Unless we start hammering that fact into our heads, we will destroy what's left of the entire region.
Thank you for your service Sir. Loved the film. Loved your attitude to life after the trauma of your experience. I was diagnosed with a very serious illness 2 years ago. I’m very similar to your view point now , bring it on , live my life one day at a time . God bless you and your family
Flight Lieutenant John Peters, Sir, you have balls bigger than a Rhinoceros!!!!!! My respect and admiration!!!!!!!
What a very brave man!!!!! No one could ever think you were weak. Wishing you and your family a happy, peaceful and healthy life you are amazing and so tough, a hero
4:30 I thought I’d be viewed as a traitor, this brings on depression. What we are thinking is not what your thinking .
We are seeing a truly brave RAF Fighter Pilot. You have fought your war please stop fighting it. And thank you all for standing on the fence so we can sleep easy. God bless to you all my friends.
I'm glad to hear such an ordeal has fortified your spirit instead of stripping it out of you, the best of the best couldn't have handled that. It's good to know the rest of your life will be lived in brighter days
This man makes me proud to be British
What a BAMF. He said he was super proud of not doing what they wanted by reading the script, that's where he was forever engraved in my memory as a real one. Hats off my friend.
All these people in the comments chatting shit, calling him a murderer, a slaughterer and a coward. He can't choose what he does, he can't choose where he goes and he can't choose whether he hits the switch or not, he's following orders for his country. He's a patriotic countryman who deserves every single bit of our respect for putting his life on the line.
Alan Partridge Absolutely
Carlospicywiener Just because you lose something doesn't make you a coward.
Thank you sir, I will feel forever in debt for your brave service.
One tough dude. Your countrymen should be honored by your service and bravery.
Inspirational and a reminder of the things we sometimes take for granted. Proud of all our service men and women ✌🏻🇬🇧
Thank you for your service sir. God bless.
So much respect for this guy. I remember when he was captured. I feared the worst for him. I might have blown my brains out in the desert as they approached so he's a lot braver than me. Think of what he would have missed out on if he'd done that. Respect.
Great guy shows the magnificent courage of our RAF pilots in the first gulf war makes me proud to be British
You sir are no traitor , you are a brave British serviceman . Thank you for helping to protect our country ♥️
4:43 that is sad... endure all the torture and still got that feeling.
Wow. What a dude. I remember seeing this man during his captivity and praying he'd make it home safe.
Love and joy to lovely Helen, but I wish John Peters was my beau. What a beautiful soul, handsome man, and courageous hero. Love the thought of him to bits. Much joy to him and his family.
Traitor!? Sir.. thee exact opposite. Myself, and I know millions and millions and millions of other people around the world respect you at the highest level imaginable. Far beyond any stripes or medals. I hope I don't disrespect you by saying thank you Sir. Not all people out here take what you incredibly brave men do for granted.
"only when you have lost everything are you free to do anything"
Your words are so true, it gives you huge confidence in life, no one can do anything more to you as you have endured the worst one can go through in life. Once a person has hit rock bottom, been threatened with death, tortured. abused etc, when you come away from it, one feels invincible.
Shocking images, I’ll never forget the effect they had on me. Proper heroes.
God bless you. You have endured tremendous hardships protecting your people. You deserve a peaceful life and the support of the nation
This is what a real hero looks and acts like. 🎖
Wow what a bloke! Thankyou for your service and everything you have been through to make sure we’re all safe! 🇬🇧🇬🇧
You were safe ya know ?
Wow, that last minute of his interview was absolutely profound.
Much admiration, soldier to soldier! I remember your picture distinctly. For most of us there is no grand strategy that we could give away that would endanger our comrades, particularly in that war. Good job!
Sad thing to know that SERE training can’t save you once you’ve been captured.
It's often the worst scenarios that shape us the most to be good people. I am glad that he got out alive, massive respect for him keeping a positive attitude.
Sir, thank You for Your service !
Regs from Sweden.
You are no traitor. Nobody knows how they will react given such extreme circumstances. You did what you needed to do to survive and get back to your family. Thank you for your service.
What an inspirational bloke. An amazing man who deserves a statue.
I’m sorry, and thank you for your service.
From Washington state, USA
I wonder what he would say to his captures now? I wonder if he would thank them, forgive them or resent them.
m8 they're neighbours now
Alec Meirelles lmao
Profound and very moving account. I’m glad you are able to tell us about it because so many of us have wondered respectfully what became of you after your release. Your buddy became well known in the media while you didn’t. Therefore I for one am glad you are well, though clearly still dealing with the consequences of your capture. Good fortune.
I fought in this war too.
SEMPER FI‼️🍻
@sym what
sym when u know nothing about war and are a scrawny little boy who would easily get his ass beat
So did I brother!
@sym you're joking right?
Ken Nash
OOH-RAH‼️🍻
I was at Cottesmore when this man was an instructor there in the early nineties. Very personable guy. No arrogance about the man at all. Always took the time for a 'good morning' and asked how you were. Stood a cut above the attitude of a considerable percentage of aircrew in my opinion.
This guy is my hero, I wish him all the happiness he can get.
Love from Israel
God bless you John, you´re a true hero!
