Hi i’m in the UK. i’m wondering what dollar you’re using for pricing? Is that US dollars? Just do i can understand what it would be in UK £ 😁 Your channel is fantastic and you’re such an inspiration to me.
Hi! Welcome! So nice to have you here. 😉 Under 7g you don't need to, but over that you should. You can find out more on the Assay offices website 😉 If you do batches (all of the same metal) it's much cheaper.
I’m working my way through your videos, I did a ring making workshop and it’s given me SO many ideas. Do you have a video on files/sanding grits and what to use and when?
Hi Megan, I have a question about Instagram. When starting a jewellery business, do you recommend to have the instagram posts in English or in the country’s language that the business exists and starts? Or in both languages? Or to have two separate instagram accounts one in English and the other in another language?
It's always a hard question and there is no right or wrong answer. Here are some questions to think about: 1. What language do you feel most comfortable in? 2. If you think long term do you want to scale to other countries where english would then be better? 3. What about writing the captions in both languages? 4. I don't recommend having 2 IG accounts. You'll hate yourself later when you have to post twice as much 😅. 5. How good are people from your country with English? For example in the Netherlands people generally have a very good grasp of English but of you were in Japan that would be a different story.
Hello Megan, SUB... I am watching your videos for two days, I like very much the simplicity and effectivity of your work. Also your life story is interesting. I am hobby gold prospector, so I want to do something with my placer gold and natural Czech garnets that I find. Sometimes I buy silver "trash", cleaning it into pure 99+ silver to get material to work with. Thinking about rolling mill to make sheets and wires out of it and make things out my my own metals. I have seen, you have the mill, but I didnt see video working with it yet. Is the mill worth the money? Or hammer does the same in small scale? Best wishes from Czech Republic.
Hello hello! Thanks for subscribing! I appreciate it! So glad you are finding the videos helpful! I actually was given the rolling mill. In terms of rolling mill vs hammer, the rolling mill allows you to get a more flat and even surface. The rolling mill also allows you to create more diverse textures. I would personally wait and see what type of jewelry you like and do some research on what can be done with the rolling mill and see if it is worth your while to invest as they are pretty expensive. But like you said you melt down your own metals and create your own alloys, so in that case a rolling mill might be very handy. 😉
Hello! Thank you for your generous sharing of pricing and techniques. This is off subject but I love the piece of music you have playing on this video. Can you tell me the source? Have a wonderful day!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! The music I used in the video (and all my videos) is from Epidemic sound. It's a platform I have a subscription for to get royalty free music. Can't remember each artist I used in this particular one. But you could use the Shazam App and play the song and it will tell you the artist and song 😉💕

@@megan.collinsThank you so much Megan for your answer! ❤
Hello, what kind of tool is that you’re using to trace your earrings on?
It's called a scribe. Basically a sharpened metal tip. You can even use a compass if you don't have one. ;)
Pretty earrings. Don’t you work harden the ear wire?
Yes I usually do actually. Was in a rush at the end so skipped it this time. But yes, it's a good idea 😉

Very nice work, I thought Nordic with good English as I've spent time with them. Then I think very, very soft south African.👍🏴
Thank you! Hahaha, yup! You got it. I am South African, but loved in the UK for 9 years. ;)
